Chapter 17 - Blade of the stars

>Several days ago — Overseas Nexus, Red-Class Threat Zone

The sky above the battlefield was an oppressive red, clouds churning with corrosive ather. Lightning danced across twisted towers of obsidian that jutted from the ground like broken bones.

Venators screamed in every direction.

Selene stood alone at the far edge of the ruined citadel, her long white coat fluttering behind her, the scent of scorched ather in the air. Dozens had already fallen to the monstrosity ahead: a Corrupter Sovereign, a grotesque amalgamation of metal, cursed bone, and molten ichor. Its corrupted body radiated waves of dark energy, warping reality around it.

"Selene!" one of the squad leaders called out through the comm crystal. "It's consuming the nexus core! If it finishes, this entire region will collapse into a death field!"

Her eyes, bright and unflinching, narrowed.

Then it ends now.

She raised her hand, and a brilliant glyph of constellations blazed to life above her palm.

"Tablet ability: Stellar Judicium. Stage II – Celestial Ascendant."

Five streaks of divine light pierced the crimson sky, embedding themselves in the ground around her. Swords forged from the very stars themselves shimmered into existence:

The Sword of Orion crackled with piercing, jagged light—a hunter's blade.

The Sword of Lyra sang as it moved, its strikes elegant and swift.

The Sword of Draco, black and edged with coiling flame, radiated predatory malice.

The Sword of Antares glowed with the heat of collapsing suns—searing and relentless.

And the Sword of Vela, forged from the remnants of a supernova, pulsed like a beacon of divine wrath.

She stepped forward, summoning the Sword of Orion into her grasp. With a swing, she cleaved a dozen charging wraiths in half. With a thought, the remaining swords rose into the air, orbiting her like planets to a sun.

Every strike was deliberate. Every motion with calm precision.

The Corrupter Sovereign roared, unleashing a wave of corrupt ather that shattered nearby terrain. Selene leapt through the air, switching instantly to the Sword of Draco, its heavy, crushing blows battering through the beast's defense. She parried a claw swipe and blinked behind the boss, switching again, this time to Lyra unleashing a rapid flurry of slashes that played like divine music through the battlefield.

But it wasn't enough.

The Corrupter Sovereign's core began to glow—twisting into a singularity of cursed energy.

Selene hovered midair, her blades spiraling around her.

Ather surged in her veins—radiant, dangerous. She raised one arm.

"My blade will purge all fallen"

"Starlight Judgment End."

The Stellar Swords lifted skyward. For one breathless moment, they aligned perfectly above her, forming a constellation wheel. Then, with a burst of supernova brilliance, they merged into a single colossal greatblade—a divine weapon that blazed like a newborn star.

Blade of Judgment descended.

The Corrupter Sovereign shrieked as its body and spirit were cleaved in a single, world-splitting strike. The land quaked. The sky burned.

And then—Meteoric Fall.

The Stellar Swords reformed in the heavens and rained down like divine meteors. Each one impaled a cursed node, a corrupted remnant, or a thrashing monstrosity.

Silence followed.

The battlefield glowed with fading celestial fire. Corruption was burned away, reduced to ash and forgotten shadow.

Selene fell to one knee, the light fading from her eyes. Her energy was spent, the cost nearly fatal. But the boss was dead. The nexus had been stabilized.

The comm line erupted with frantic reports and cheers.

She didn't listen.

All she could think about—was her brother.

Noct…

She looked to the stars above. The same ones she once used to teach him constellations on cold nights.

"Just wait… I'll find you."
