Chapter 15 - DINNER (11)

A long, prehensile tail, thick and perfectly scaled, lashed once against the air before settling around her. In mere heartbeats, the towering male who had claimed her was gone, replaced by a massive, black obsidian snake with scales that shimmered with an almost liquid light, its sheer size and power still holding her suspended, trapped against its immense, sinuous body.

Rami's breath hitched, her heart hammering against her ribs. The fear was primal, overwhelming, yet intertwined with a terrifying fascination. The snake, Yves transformed, held her not in human arms but in a powerful coil of its body, the very skin against hers now cool, smooth, and impossibly strong.

The possessive gaze remained, even intensified, in the glinting obsidian eyes of the snake, making it clear that his claim remained, absolute and terrifying, even in this new, monstrous form.

The profound silence of the ancient forest was broken only by the occasional rustle of unseen creatures moving through the dense vegetation and the gentle snap of twigs under Yves's imperceptible weight. Every scent, every sound, every sensation was new and slightly unsettling, a constant reminder that she was adrift in a world utterly unlike her own.

Rami's senses, heightened by her vulnerability, strained to decipher the secrets held within the dense, silent forest.

She saw a creature with iridescent wings, larger than any insect she had ever encountered, flitting amongst luminous bell-shaped flowers. Then, a cluster of small, luminous fungi, their caps glowing with a soft, internal light, caught her eye, casting an eerie glow on the surrounding damp earth.

As they continued, a hollow ache began to gnaw in Rami's stomach. The vibrant colors and strange scents of this forest, once merely unsettling, now seemed almost a cruel taunt to her growing hunger. The damp earth and decaying leaves offered no sustenance, and the thought of what might be edible was a terrifying unknown.

The fragmented memories of her apartment – the slightly sweet aroma of her windowsill plants – now brought a sharp pang of longing. Even the thought of the peeling paint of her walls held a strange comfort compared to the alien reality surrounding her. The concern for Snow, her loyal white snake, returned, a dull ache in her chest, a persistent question mark in the face of this overwhelming unknown.

She longed for the familiar comfort of her own unit, where the air carried the scent of plants and Snow's enclosure, her grip on him tightens, as if to will herself from the memory.

The journey felt endless, each step a further departure from her known world. Yves, now in his serpentine form, continued his steady, powerful pace, his presence a constant, powerful anchor in the overwhelming foreignness. Rami, held securely by him, could only observe, absorb, and try to process the surreal reality of her new existence.
