Lilith's eyes gleamed.
"And?"
"My Greed says not yet."
She stared at him.
Then laughed.
A low, delighted sound. "Oh, that's interesting."
"I'm glad my internal conflict is entertaining."
"Immensely."
Her expression softened into something more curious. "Why not yet?"
Lux's thumb moved idly against her waist.
He didn't answer immediately.
Because he knew.
That was the irritating part.
It wasn't trauma suddenly reaching out from the past to strangle his pleasure.
Not exactly.
It was trust.
Or rather… The absence of certainty.
Lilith was beautiful. Powerful. Ancient. Fascinating. She had helped him understand Kaelmor's immortality, promised to support him, and made her attraction perfectly clear.
But he had known her for what?
An hour?
A little more?
He had rescued her from a coffin, kissed her, watched her casually announce she had once civilized Hell, and discovered she considered centuries of imprisonment a particularly inconvenient nap.
