Her breath tickled the sensitive shell, and he shivered. "I hope it improved."
Lux's reply was not a word.
It was a decision.
He lowered himself onto the chaise beside her. He didn't straddle her, not yet. He knelt, one knee between her thighs, the other pressing into the velvet cushion beside her hip. It was a position of worship and predation in equal measure.
His hands came to rest on the silk of her dress. The fabric felt alive, cool and impossibly smooth. He could feel the heat of her body radiating through it. He traced the curve of her hip, the fabric pooling and shifting like liquid shadow under his touch.
"You talk a lot," he murmured, his voice a raw, intimate thing. "For someone who claims to be observing."
