Lux's smile came slowly.
Not the charming business smile he used when he wanted a boardroom to forget they were already bleeding money. This one had teeth beneath the velvet. He tilted his head, letting Lilith stay close, letting her scent wrap around him like night flowers blooming over a battlefield.
"It's a pleasure," he murmured, "when you see me as the main reason for your awakening."
Lilith's lips curved.
"But," Lux continued, one hand rising to catch her wrist before her fingers could trail lower along his chest, "I'm not playing here."
Cyrinne's brows lifted.
That was the kind of sentence most men did not survive saying to Lilith with their throat emotionally intact.
Lux did not step back. His grip was firm but careful, his thumb resting against the inside of her wrist where ancient power pulsed beneath cool skin. "I won't put Envy House in danger. Kaelmor surely already knows you're awakened."
