Lux's eyes opened.

He had been thrown halfway across the velvet chair like someone had returned his soul by express delivery without checking fragile handling. One leg hung over the armrest. His coat was twisted. His hair fell over his eyes. His dignity was unavailable for comment.
Across from him, Cyrinne lay on the carpet, one arm over her face, green-black magic flickering weakly around her like embarrassed smoke.
