It's been several months since the Feta's family left Granitz island due to the F01 incident. Admiral Karl Feta almost sacrificed his life when fought against the F01 monster to protect Granitz citizens from his mother's ambitious creation.
"Welcome back Admiral Karl, and Lady Freja"
"We are glad to have you back."
"How is your recovery, sir"
"Incredible"
"The Jepun medical technology is fearsome."
"We must acquire them one day, mom"
"Someday, sweetheart"
"For now, you must first recover"
A man stepped out from a harbor. He is Karl Feta. Freja feta in her blouse and jean, wearing sunglasses, followed his son. She and her son walked firmly to the limousine waiting for them at the harbor.
"Your present must be waiting for you at the base," she said.
"I am not sure, mom. Those guys have not replied to my call" Karl tried to phone again. But no one picked up his call. Their limousine drove to the FRI.
"Let's meet again at dinner, sweetheart" Freja smiled, shut the door, and walked to the entrance. "Yes, mom," Karl smiled.
(At FRI)
"Good morning, Miss Feta"
"Welcome back, Freja"
As Freja walked through, many people greeted her. After her shameful failures of F01 incident, she was transferred to the mainland, for detention and for taking care of her son during his operation. At the mainland institute, she received much attention over there. Some offered her permanent positions. Her work on human reflexivity enhancement was outstanding. For military, her work and the F01 were a first-step breakthrough. This paved a promising future of Reich's army. Her algorithm did not only bring down the human's limb reflex down to 20 ms, that is too simple, it allowed every human sensory organ to respond with little latency at 20 ms. Imagine, you can see a pistol's bullet and dodge it. This is an advancement.
As she walked past the right wing, a crowd formed. They gathered around the cybernetic lab. She was curious why.
"Look!, they are testing the arm"
"Wow, the arm catches the flying bullet".
Yelling, loud to the doorway.
Freja walked closer to see what was inside. A cybernetic arm, with cables connected to a video sensor, simulates the vision sensor. An officer pointed his pistol to the arm, and shot. The arm is able to catch the flying pistol bullet, that 300 m/s, which would require reflex or latency response below 10 ms. The arm can move at 50 m/s, which is not surprising. What impressed her is the way they can transmit the signal to command the arm to move in such a small latency time. Impressive – she thought. It was even faster than her current algorithm at 20 ms, which she was proud to present at the conference a week ago. Pierre did it? - she thought. While looking inside, she did not see Pierre but a woman, hazel long hair, standing nearby the computer console, talking and typing something, close to her was ABC's staff that she was familiar with. They were her team during the early stage of the cybernetic arm. Freja thought the woman she saw was the new employee she heard about. With only one week, she could develop the algorithm that reduces the latency time down below 10 ms. Even she and Pierre could not complete it for many months. She felt so excited. This was a masterpiece, far beyond current algorithms. This would transform the war.
"That's impressive." Freja stepped out forward. Everyone turned to her. Clapping her hand, everyone followed her action.
"I must say. This is truly a masterpiece" Freja continued her speech.
"Thank you" Dianne thanks the woman in front of her. She could not follow who this woman was
"Apologize for my rudeness, My name is Freja Feta, the chief engineer at ABC" Freja introduced Dianne. Dianne recalled from Elena's story, Freja was in Jepun when she arrived here a week ago.
"You must be, Dianne Scholz, please to meet you" Freja calmly spoke.
"Just Dianne, nice to meet you Miss Feta" Dianne replied.
"Just Freja, I heard a lot about your husband Markus from my husband," Freja said.
"Let's continue our talk, during lunch, for now it is your show." Freja said, and stepped back, walked to the audience. She had a big smile after seeing such a big achievement. I must acquire this – she thought.
Dianne was curious after hearing Freja mention her husband, Markus Scholz. Markus did not mention anything – she thought. Anyways, she got rid of her curiosity and started to do a test run more on her cybernetic arm.
After the final run, Dianne received a lot of congratulations from the audience. Her colleagues shook her hand, hugged her. Freja, who observed the test run until finished, had reached her again.
"Congratulations for your big success!" Freja congratulated Dianne.
"How about I buy you and your team lunch?" Freja invited Dianne. Dianne and her team looked at each other and accepted her treat. Dianne had several questions wanted to know.
At lunch, Dianne and her team met Freja at the canteen in the middle section of the FRI building. "Take anything, today is my treat" Freja smiled. Dianne and her team simply took what they usually have, with a little extra like dessert. They felt sweets would help after a long project's run. Freja took a simple dish, spaetzle, a traditional Reich's dish.
"Your husband, Markus, was my husband's colleague." Freja started her conversation, as if she knew Dianne's curiosity. "They were once in the same team," Freja continued. Dianne knew her husband was a former SEAL before became a colonel. "Markus has not mentioned anything about him before." Dianne started to be worried as Markus might be hiding something from her. She rolled her married ring. Freja saw Dianne start to get anxious. "No worries, dear, Frank, my husband, hard to keep his mouth shut", Freja touched Dianne's shoulder. "He liked to spit out his mission details, while we're spending our time," Freja laughed. Dianne and her team were stunned. Freja's friendly personality was very contrasting to what Pierre and Elena were afraid of her. Dianne recalled. "Frank, my husband, he said, Markus was a driven man, bold, but also kind, and he was skilled in hand-to-hand combat." Freja said. Dianne smiled when Freja talked about her husband. He was so kind even his colleague knew it – Dianne thought. Dianne was proud of her husband. Dianne had no doubt in her husband.
"Let's talk about something serious" Freja changed to a more serious tone. "How can your team reduce the latency without encountering thermal throttling?" Freja asked a straight question. Freja's bold words slammed Dianne. She suddenly recalled what Pierre and Elena warned her.
Although her expression remained calm, her voice could not hide her true intention. Dianne was thinking how to describe without mentioning the quantum chip. All of sudden, one of her team, the computer engineer,
"Dianne developed her own algorithm that was able to reduce the latency time to 15 ms. But thermal throttling is our big issue." the computer engineer said. "Yesterday, we finally overcame this issue by using the parallel quantum chip," he continued. Dianne had no time to stop him. Freja was stunned. "The parallel quantum chip?" Freja repeated. Dianne saw, she had no choice but to explain it properly. "Yes, we implement our algorithm to the parallel quantum chip. It turned out to be a performance far beyond our expectations. The current latency time is 5 ms" Dianne explained, while trying to not explain how she secured that high-level technology. Freja narrowed her eyes. "That's impressive" Freja praised them. "Even me and Pierre cannot reduce the time below 20 ms in a normal chip. But you can in just a few weeks" Freja continued. "As expected from Markus's wife" Freja smiled. She finished her lunch and then leave frist. "I have just come back this morning, I think I will go see Pierre a little bit" Freja then walked away. Leaving Dianne and her team alone. Dianne felt uneasy as she pushed everything to Pierre.
