Chapter 20 - Chapter 20:Power couple

The media room at The Grand Meridian Hotel buzzed with anticipation. Journalists filled the rows, camera flashes bounced off walls, and murmurs of curiosity hung thick in the air. Everyone wanted answers about the sudden merger between Valen Tech and Aether Integrated two giants in different sectors who had never shown signs of collaboration before.

At exactly 10:00 AM, the lights dimmed slightly and a hush fell over the room as the host stepped up to the podium.

"Ladies and gentlemen of the press, we thank you for being here today. You are about to witness the birth of a groundbreaking partnership that will redefine innovation, tech integration, and global strategy. Please welcome Mr. Kai Valen, CEO of Valen Tech and Ms. Aurora Valen, CEO of Aether Integrated."

Gasps. Whispers. Surprise.

Kai walked out first, tall and confident in his signature black suit. Right behind him, Aurora followed graceful, poised, dressed in a fitted white pantsuit that radiated elegance and command. The media's astonishment doubled as they recognized her not just as a powerful CEO but as Kai Valen wife.

They took their seats at the center table, microphones before them, the company logos glowing softly behind them on the backdrop.

Kai leaned forward first. "Thank you for coming. Today, I'm proud to announce a strategic merger between Valen Tech and Aether Integrated. This collaboration is not only a fusion of technological expertise and innovative frameworks, but also a long-term vision to change how businesses scale responsibly in global markets."

He paused, turning slightly toward Aurora, a faint, knowing smile playing on his lips. "Aether Integrated has long impressed us from afar strong leadership, groundbreaking strategies, and a commitment to human-centered solutions."

Aurora took over smoothly. Her voice was calm, but firm. "At Aether, we've always believed in creating systems that don't just serve profit but serve people. This merger gives us the tools and reach to take those values even further. Together, we're not just aiming to dominate markets. We're aiming to build a legacy."

A journalist from The Business Times raised her hand. "This is certainly a bold move. But Ms. Carter, many here didn't even know you were the woman behind Aether Integrated. Why now?"

Aurora smiled. "I've always believed results speak louder than identities. My team and I have built Aether for years without attaching faces to the name. But now that this partnership is public, I believe it's time to step forward fully as CEO, as partner, and yes, as Mrs. Valen."

The crowd buzzed with applause and murmurs.

Another reporter chimed in, "How will you both manage this partnership at a professional level, considering your personal relationship?"

Kai's response was swift and calm. "By respecting each other's roles. Aurora is brilliant, capable, and has always handled Aether like a fortress. Our board teams have aligned structures in place to ensure leadership transparency and independent oversight. Our relationship is personal, yes but our business is bigger than us."

More applause.

Aurora added gently, "We're not here to flaunt a marriage. We're here to build a future "

After the Press Conference – Backstage Moments

As the curtains fell and the crowd began to disperse, Kai and Aurora walked offstage and into the private lounge. The moment they were alone, Kai wrapped his arm around her waist, pulling her close.

"You were amazing," he murmured, brushing his lips softly against her temple.

"So were you," she whispered back. "We did it."

"More than that… we owned it."

Just then, Elias entered the room with a bright grin. "That was one hell of a reveal. Twitter is on fire."

Kai chuckled. "We'll let PR handle that."

Aurora nodded, slipping her hand into Kai's. "Let them talk. We've just begun."

The applause from the press conference had barely faded when the congratulations began rolling in.

Inside the executive lounge of The Grand Meridian Hotel, board members and top-level executives from both Valen Tech and Aether Integrated gathered to personally commend Kai and Aurora for the flawless reveal.

Mr. Whitmore, the oldest member of ValenTechboard approached first, shaking Kai's hand firmly. "You've outdone yourself. I never saw this coming, but this… this changes everything. And to know your wife is behind Aether? Genius."

Aurora gave a modest smile. "Thank you, Mr. Whitmore. It's an honor to finally work with all of you officially."

Evelyn West, Aether's chief financial officer and a woman who had long respected Aurora, hugged her warmly. "You kept this secret from us all, even me. But I'm proud of you. And I trust this alliance will take us further than we imagined."

Others followed. Some expressed awe, some mild surprise, but most shared genuine admiration for the way the two had handled the reveal not as a couple parading a romance, but as professionals uniting two powerhouses with vision and tact.

When the room quieted and handshakes had been exchanged, Kai wrapped his arm around Aurora's waist and murmured against her ear, "Let's go home."

Later That Evening – Family Dinner at the Valen' Estate

Back at the Kings' estate, the warmth of home awaited them.

The dining room was lively. Kai's younger sister, Wendie, was already setting the table with help from the housekeeper, while Kai's grandfather sat by the window, sipping tea and watching the sunset with a soft, proud smile.

Aurora changed into something more comfortable a deep green satin dress that hugged her figure without screaming "CEO." Kai, ever elegant, had ditched his jacket and loosened his collar.

The dining table was long, carved from oak, and glowed under the soft chandelier light. Dishes filled the space grilled vegetables, roasted chicken, rice pilaf, peppered steak, and steamed plantains.

As soon as Aurora and Kai entered, Wendie grinned mischievously. "Well, if it isn't the couple trending on every platform."

Kai arched a brow. "Are we?"

"You are," Wendie said, giggling. "Your press conference already hit a million views. People are freaking out power couple, secret CEO wife, business genius love story. They're eating it up."

Aurora blushed slightly and moved to help with the plates.

Wendie leaned over and whispered loudly to their grandfather, "Can you believe she's both hot and brilliant?"

The old man chuckled. "That's why she's his wife."

They all sat down, laughter flowing as easily as the wine in their glasses.

Kai's grandfather raised a glass. "To new beginnings. To strength in love and in vision. May your partnership in business and in life continue to be as solid as what we saw today."

Aurora and Kai clinked glasses softly, eyes meeting in a look that said everything words couldn't.

"Thank you, Grandfather," Kai said. "That means a lot."

Dinner continued with stories, teasing, and light-hearted jokes. Aurora found herself smiling more freely, her guard lowered now that her secret was no longer a burden. She wasn't hiding anymore. She belonged.

After dessert, when the dishes had been cleared and the family began retiring to their rooms or the lounge, Kai gently took her hand.

"Let's go rest," he said softly.

She nodded.

But deep down, they both knew rest wasn't what the night had in store.
