Liam was unable to shake off the feeling that Allison was hiding something from him. He could recollect her sentences,
"I don't have any options," which kept echoing in his mind as he tried to answer what she meant by that?
Determined to uncover the truth, Liam decided to do some digging. He started by walking around the school and asking every detail about Allison, trying to gather more information about Allison's past.
He approached her acquaintance friends, Jake and Emily, during lunch of this particular day at the cafeteria. He sat and hitted the banter at once.. even though he was still quite new in school, he was familiar with these two as Allison's friends..
"Hey guys, um.. my name is Liam. And I'm.."
Liam was unable to finish his introduction before Jake interrupted.
"Hey bro, we already knew who you were, so safe the intro and let's wine and dine together," jake uttered in his usual jovial manner, he was a young light skinned guy with bright blue hair and a handsome features and a young girl sitting by his side was a blonde girl with a long brown hair with bright beautiful face and tender lips.
"Umm.. okay, I.. I just wanted to ask, maybe, umm.. you once noticed anything weird about Allison?" Liam asked, trying to sound casual, but inside, he was a little bit shy..
Jake and Emily exchanged a knowing glance, depicting that they were quite surprised at his question.
"What do you mean?" Jake asked, with a cautious tone
Liam leaned in, lowering his voice a little bit as he spoke.
"I don't know, it's just that she seems really secretive. When I asked her about her studies, she said something about not having any options, and I was unable to figure out what she meant by that,"
Emily's expression turned thoughtful. Her face says it all that she knew something about this.
"I've noticed that she's always studying, and she never seems to hang out with anyone outside of class."
Jake nodded in agreement. "Yeah, and have you seen her grades? She's like a genius or something."
Liam's curiosity was piqued. What was driving Allison to be so focused on her studies?
But every time he tried to bring up the topic with others, people seemed hesitant to talk. It was as if they were all hiding something.
Frustrated but not giving up, Liam decided to take a different approach. He started observing Allison's behaviour, trying to notice any patterns or clues that might reveal more about her secrets throughout that day
The next day, while they were studying together in the library, Liam noticed that Allison seemed particularly nervous. She kept glancing over her shoulder, as if she was worried someone was watching her.
Liam's curiosity was piqued. What was Allison afraid of?
He decided to confront her, but gently with a tender, soft voice
"Hey, Allison, is everything okay?" he asked, trying to sound concerned.
Allison's eyes darted around the room before she leaned in close.
"Um.. no, nothing, " she whispered. Shaking quietly because the question caught her unaware,
"No, there is something bothering you. You have to tell me, Allison, I promise I won't tell anyone," Liam asked with his face, showing a stark concern
"Um.. I.. I don't know how to put it, but you have to promise not to tell anyone else."
Liam's heart skipped a beat. What secrets was Allison hiding?
"I promise," he said, his voice barely above a whisper.
Allison took a deep breath before beginning to reveal a shocking truth...
"My dad is struggling to make ends meet," she said, her eyes welling up with tears. "He's a mechanic, but he's been having a hard time finding work. I have to get a scholarship to college, or else I won't be able to afford it."
Liam's eyes widened in surprise. He had no idea that Allison's family was struggling financially.
"Why didn't you tell me?" he asked, his voice filled with concern.
Allison shrugged, her eyes dropping to the floor. "I didn't want anyone to know. I was afraid of being pitied or judged."
Liam's heart went out to her. He couldn't imagine how hard it must be for her to deal with the pressure of getting a scholarship, all while keeping her family's struggles a secret.
But now that he knew the truth, he was determined to help her in any way he could.
"Hey, Allison?" he said, his voice soft.
Allison looked up, her eyes searching his face. "Yeah?"
"I'm here for you," Liam said, his voice filled with conviction. "We'll get through this together, okay?"
Allison's eyes welled up with tears again, but this time, they were tears of gratitude.
"Thanks so much, Liam," she whispered, her voice barely audible.
Liam smiled, feeling a sense of relief wash over him. He knew that he had just taken a big step into Allison's life, and he was ready to face whatever challenges came their way.
As they continued to study together, Liam couldn't help but notice the way Allison's eyes sparkled when she talked about her favourite subjects. He found himself drawn to her intelligence and passion, and he knew that he wanted to spend more time with her.
But just as things were starting to feel more relaxed between them, Allison's phone rang. She hesitated for a moment before answering it, her expression turning serious.
"I have to go," she said, her voice firm. "I'll see you later, Liam."
Liam nodded, feeling a sense of disappointment. He didn't want their time together to end.
But as he watched Allison walk away, he couldn't help but feel a sense of determination. He was going to help her get that scholarship, no matter what it took.
As he packed up his books and headed out of the library, Liam couldn't help but wonder what other secrets Allison might be hiding.
He was determined to find out.
Over the next few days, Liam and Allison spent every spare moment together, studying and preparing for the upcoming test.
