Chapter 2 - _ Meet Lulu

~Lulu's Point Of View~

Lupin House is the most toxic building in existence.

Harboring the Pack of the North, it is twenty-five stories of stones, steel, and secrets. The tallest building in the city and perceived by humans as a masterpiece of architecture. They called it the kind of place owned by billionaires too rich to show their faces and too picky about their tenants.

However, to the supernaturals, it was the home of the most powerful pack in the world. The top floors belonged to the powerful. The untouchable.

The Alpha lives in the penthouse, above the clouds, where the moonlight kisses his windows first. Just beneath him lives the Beta, then the Gamma, Delta, enforcers, soldiers, diplomats, and healers—each rank stacked perfectly and hierarchically.

And at the very bottom, ground floor… that's where the filth goes. The Omegas as they were called.

Lulu had waited patiently for this day… a day when the opportunity would surface. And it did come like a ghost in the night.

She had witnessed the four privileged sons of the pack murder their own mate. The sheer brutality of it all only fueled her desire for justice.

She wanted more than anything, to bring the rich ones of Lupin House to book. To expose their evil deeds and let the whole world see them for what they truly were; evil predators who had no shred of empathy for others except their own kind.

As a vengeful ghost, she had waited eons for a body strong enough to carry her wrath, and Wren's death left behind a perfectly open vessel.

What better way to get back at the fathers and mothers if not through their sons? How best to have the sons wrapped around her fingers if not by possessing the body of their mate? She would make good use of Wren's body and ensure these sinful creatures met their karma.

Oh, baby, SHE was their karma.

However, for now, she needed to play the 'frightened and human Wren'. The boys didn't notice it at first. They were too busy planning how to get rid of her body when Wren's corpse twitched.

The high heel that had rolled away began to rattle softly on the floor. Then, she breathed.

It was too hollow a breathing to not be heard by the werewolf heirs.

"What the hell…" Arlo (the scowling one) gasped, stumbling back:

Her chocolate brown eyes fluttered open. They were no longer glazed or dead. They were alive.

Oh, to be alive again – Lulu wanted to shut her eyes and bask in it.

However, that'd be a bad idea considering she still needed to deal with these idiots.

The one who'd "killed" her, named Dimitri, hadn't moved since she collapsed, and now, he stepped back as though she were the predator.

Wren—or rather, Lulu, coughed as she sat up slowly. She blinked at them in confusion, hand at her throat.

"What… What did you do to me?"

The storm-haired Alpha's son, named Radek took a solid step back. "This… This isn't possible."

Arlo's mouth hung open. "You snapped her neck. I heard it. I saw…"

"She shouldn't be breathing," Jace, the silver-eyed one and also the Gamma's son whispered. "She's not healing. She's just… awake."

Dimitri, the Beta's son, had his eyebrows drawn together in suspicion. "I… I felt it give way. I know how it sounds when a spine breaks. She was dead."

Lulu coughed again, her voice perfectly mimicking Wren's soft, bewildered, and scared one. "Why did you do that to me? I…" she blinked as if she was recalling the details, eyes darting around. "You called me mate. You were going to kill me and then… now I'm…"

She glanced down at her own body, hands trembling, and doing a brilliant job pretending to discover her own broken neck had somehow reset itself.

Her lips wobbled.

"Am I a ghost?!" she shrieked.

"You sure as hell aren't. Unless this is hell and we are all dead too." Radek gave a cocky grin, shaking his head at how screwed they all were.

They all stared at her like she was an unsolvable riddle. Lulu let her voice quiver, dragging her arms around herself.

"I didn't… I didn't ask for this. I just wanted to help my dad. I didn't ask for whatever this is. Please… I won't tell anyone. I swear. Just let me go." She pleaded, eyes watering up.

One could see their frustration returning in the way they all fumbled with their temples. However, that frustration was smeared with fear. Because none of them knew how this was possible.

"Turn her," Arlo muttered suddenly.

Of course, he would. It was he who suggested killing her in the first place. He was the brain of the group, always one to give suggestions but never act on them.

Everyone went silent.

"What?"

"Turn her," he repeated, louder. "If she's our mate, we can't kill her again. But we also can't leave her human or she might talk. Not when she's this… unstable. Who knows why she didn't die? Or what damage has been done to her head? We can't afford to have her unstable until we figure out what to do with her. The wolf will either fix her—or kill her for good."

"She might die," Jace pointed out.

"She already did."

"Turning a human who's already died isn't a process, it's a curse," Jace argued again.

Dimitri rubbed his jaw. "We don't have a choice. If she walks out of here like this, and someone else senses the mate pull from all four of us… it'll cause chaos. We'll have every Elder, every pack Alpha, and every council member hunting her down like she's an omen. After her, we all know we'll be next. We know how important our roles are to our family and how many pack members want what we have. We can't afford mistakes."

"She is an omen." Arlo scoffed.

The Alpha's son moved toward her, kneeling with agonizing slowness. "Hey, girl."

She flinched.

"You feel it, don't you? The bond. The hunger. You feel it too."

They weren't even trying to hide their nature from her anymore. They were just going to thrust the poor Wren into a toxic werewolf hierarchical life with no heads-up or proper training.

'Oh, I'll have fun teaching these insolent fools a lesson.' Lulu internally thought.

However, she let her face shyly fall. "I don't know what I feel. I'm just scared. Please, don't hurt me again."

They exchanged looks.

Radek then gave a tight final nod. "We turn her tonight. And we pray to the Moon she doesn't shatter."
