317.Chapter 316: Kidnapping Crimson Countess, One Step Ahead
"A bunch of fearless idiots, they really fucking love a spectacle."
Seeing the situation, Mother's Milk grumbled as he rolled down the car window and stuck his head out. With a glance, the Street ahead was completely blocked.
Because the road leading to Central City was so congested, coupled with police cars blocking the way, there was nothing for it. Mother's Milk could only park the car by the roadside and walk towards Central City on foot.
After walking for about ten minutes, Mother's Milk struggled mightily to break free from the crowd and finally saw the destroyed building.
"Holy shit..." The skyscraper before him, looking like a tattered rag, truly shocked him. Everywhere was a scene of scorched building Ruins, with even a bit of white smoke rising from them. Mother's Milk looked up at the tall building; its internal structure was completely exposed to the air, like a melted cake.
"Goddamn it."
The hole blasted through the top meant Soldier Boy had blown through the entire building. If the power had been any greater, even the surrounding Houses would likely have been affected. At that point, God knows how many people would have died.
"Damn it!" Mother's Milk looked down at the shattered wooden board beneath his feet, his face turning extremely grim. He even started to doubt the feasibility of cooperation with Soldier Boy.
If the guy was a reckless lunatic, the entire United States would likely suffer.
Just then, he saw Hughie and Billy standing on the Ruins. It was clear that Hughie's identity as a Federal Bureau of Superhuman Affairs Staff allowed him to get close to the building for a closer look.
Without hesitation, he walked straight towards the two of them.
The security personnel nearby were about to stop him but were promptly stopped by Hughie, who turned around.
"I think we've unleashed a demon." Mother's Milk surveyed the surroundings with a solemn expression, saying in a heavy tone, "Maybe cooperating with him was a mistake. It's not too late to back out now."
"Since the plan has already started, I never considered giving up halfway."
Billy stepped on a wooden board, bent down, and picked up a piece of gravel. "Before I came, I watched that video repeatedly. In the video, Soldier Boy initially seemed quite calm, but it wasn't until he reached this spot that he suddenly bent down and covered his ears with his hands, as if he'd received some huge stimulus. I asked around just now, and before this place was blown up, it was a Russian Restaurant that regularly played Russian music.
So I suspect it was the music that triggered Soldier Boy's stress reaction, causing him to uncontrollably use his superpower and destroy that Restaurant."
"Relax, buddy, everything is within my plan." Billy dropped the stone in his hand and patted Mother's Milk's shoulder.
Mother's Milk glanced at the right hand resting on his shoulder, pursed his lips, his expression mixed with a hint of anger. After a few seconds, he let out a long sigh, his voice slightly hoarse, "Your damn arrogance will ruin you one day."
"Let's go back. I'll take you to see someone."
Billy smiled, put an arm around Mother's Milk's shoulder, and pulled him into the car.
"Who is it?" After a while, Mother's Milk, sitting in the back, couldn't help but ask.
"Guess?" At this moment, Billy and Hughie exchanged a smile. Returning to the dimly lit Basement, Hughie, who had been smiling moments before, his face suddenly changed and he rushed straight into the Bathroom to vomit violently. By the looks of it, he seemed to be trying to throw up his guts.
"What's going on? Is he alright?" Mother's Milk frowned and asked.
"That's normal. He should be fine in a bit." Billy, who had experienced it several times, knew very well that it was the aftereffects of the Temporary Compound V injection. He had warned Hughie before the injection, but unfortunately, it didn't seem to have much effect.
"Next, it's time to witness a miracle." Billy led Mother's Milk to the front of the Storage Room door, then used the key to unlock the door before pushing it open.
"What the fuck?!"
On the open space in the Room, lay a Woman whose hands and feet were bound by steel cables. At first, Mother's Milk didn't recognize the Woman's identity. He turned his head and looked at Billy with a shocked gaze, as if asking when The Boys had gotten into the business of human trafficking and kidnapping.
Noticing the anger gradually igniting in Mother's Milk's gaze, Billy just smiled. "Don't misunderstand, take a closer look."
This time, the Woman's special attire immediately reminded Mother's Milk of her true identity. He couldn't help but exclaim, "Crimson Countess from Payback! My God, you actually fucking did it."
Click... Billy closed the Room door and walked towards the Living Room sofa.
He sat on the sofa, picked up an unopened can of beer, and chuckled, "I had Hughie give that Woman a five thousand US dollar reward to lure her out. Goddamn, that Woman's appetite is really something. I thought a thousand US dollars would do it, but I didn't expect that giving a thousand US dollars as a reward wouldn't even make a splash."
"Don't say that, she clearly prepared a pole dance for us, okay?"
Hughie, who walked out of the Bathroom, had a green face from vomiting. However, compared to the thrill of gaining superpowers, he could barely accept this little side effect.
Since Frenchie was still at the Hospital looking after Kimiko, only Billy, Mother's Milk, and Hughie were left in the Basement. Oh, and there was also the unconscious Crimson Countess.
"I originally wanted to watch a vulgar performance with a judgmental gaze, but who would have thought Billy would snatch my mobile phone and give away all the thousands I'd painstakingly saved as a reward in one go? Now look, I can't even afford a meal at KFC."
Hughie pressed the television switch forcefully, as if wanting to vent all the resentment in his heart.
"It's fine, you can just take a bit more cash and stuff it into your pocket. You'll probably make it back quickly."
"Don't you fucking slander me! Every single penny I've earned since joining the Federal Bureau of Superhuman Affairs is cleaner than your face." Hughie sat beside Mother's Milk, righteous indignation filling him, yet inwardly regretting. Goddamn, if he had known there would be a day he couldn't even afford a meal, he really should have taken some cash handed over by the families of Supe Criminals back then. Anyway, he wasn't working for the Government. Who would have thought the power behind the Federal Bureau of Superhuman Affairs would be Vought International?
Sure enough, Billy's mockery followed immediately. "Tsk tsk tsk, Vought really should give you a Best Employee trophy. Then you can hold the trophy and take a photo with Stan Edgar."
"Hold it!" Seeing the two about to start arguing at the drop of a hat, Mother's Milk quickly called a halt.
"Compared to these trivial matters, I'm more curious about how you managed to capture Crimson Countess?"
