Chapter 10 - Chapter 10 - Survey on the brass band

The next day after school, I was led to the music room by Sakurai-san, making sure to avoid being seen by Hayashi-kun.

"Looks like no one is here right now," Sakurai-san said.

The members of the band club were apparently having a joint practice in the auditorium today.

As we entered the music room, the neatly arranged instruments welcomed us. The brass instruments glistened dully in the setting sun streaming through the window.

"This is Shirogane-san's seat," Sakurai-san guided me to a spot where a magnificent flute case was placed. It was a high-end looking black with a glossy finish.

"Recently, Shirogane-san... she just sighs when she comes here," Sakurai-san said.

I gently reached out to touch the flute case.

"Sakurai-san? Why are you here...?" a voice came from behind. I quickly pulled my hand back. Turning around, I saw Shirogane herself standing there.

"Uh, well, I was worried about Shirogane-san..." I stammered.

"With Sato-kun?" Shirogane's gaze shifted to me, clearly puzzled.

"I'm sorry. We'll leave now," Sakurai-san hurriedly said, pulling on my sleeve.

We left the music room and caught our breath a little ways down the hallway.

"That was close..." Sakurai-san whispered.

"Shirogane-san has been really on edge lately..." she added.

Just then, we heard a noise from the music room. Peeking inside, we saw Shirogane holding her flute case, murmuring something to herself.

"She really seems off..." Sakurai-san whispered worriedly. I agreed. Her behavior was definitely not normal. But today, I couldn't touch the flute.

"Let's try again another time," Sakurai-san suggested in a low voice. I nodded silently.

We decided to head back to the classroom and call it a day.

"Hey, looks like Shirogane-san is still in the music room," Sakurai-san said, spotting her in the opposite wing of the school building. It was past the end of school hours, and Sakurai-san whispered as we made our way back to the music room. We slowly approached the music room, hearing noises from inside.

The door was slightly ajar, and we couldn't help but peek in.

The music room was bathed in the setting sun. Shirogane was sitting alone by the window, holding her flute case.

"Why... why did this happen..." her voice trembled slightly. She carefully opened the case, and Sakurai-san and I gasped. The flute inside was bent and several keys were deformed.

"My... precious..." Shirogane's shoulders shook, and I could see tears glistening in her eyes.

"Shirogane-san..." Sakurai-san whispered.

Just then, a voice came from behind Shirogane, from the music preparation room.

"Still here, huh?" It was Shirota-sensei.

"Sensei..." Shirogane's voice cracked.

In an instant, an unexpected scene unfolded before our eyes. Shirota-sensei strode over to Shirogane and... embraced her.

"It's okay. I'll take care of it," he said.

"Sensei... I..." Shirogane sobbed in Shirota-sensei's chest. The distance between them was clearly not that of a teacher and student.

Next to me, Sakurai-san was trying to suppress a scream.

"Shh..." I quickly took Sakurai-san's hand and led her away from the scene. We didn't stop until we reached the end of the hallway, where we finally let out a breath.

"What... what was that..." Sakurai-san's voice was shaking.

I couldn't answer. I didn't understand it myself. But that scene was clearly...

"Please, Sato-kun. I want you to touch Shirogane-san's flute," Sakurai-san said, her eyes filled with determination. It might be something I should check with my ability.

"I understand," I replied.

The next day after school.

"Here, this is the permission slip signed by the advisor," Sakurai-san handed me a paper with a permit for after-school activities. As expected of the student council president, she had thought of this too. The school building was eerily quiet as darkness began to fall.

"Everyone should be gone by now..." Sakurai-san said as we made our way to the music room. The fluorescent lights were the only source of illumination in the otherwise dark hallway.

The music room was eerily quiet, unlike the lively atmosphere during the day. The window outside was dark, and the room's lights reflected off the glass, creating an otherworldly effect.

"Shirogane-san's flute..." The black case on the designated shelf seemed to be waiting for us.

"Sato-kun, please..." Sakurai-san's voice was filled with desperation. As a friend, she wanted to know what was happening to Shirogane.

I slowly reached out to touch the flute.

The moment I made contact—

Memories flooded into my mind like a movie.

Late-night music room. Shirota-sensei and Shirogane. Shirogane's face buried in Shirota-sensei's lap. Her flushed, pale skin. Shirogane's breaths and the rhythmic sound of water. And—Kondo-senpai.

I quickly pulled my hand away from the flute.

"What's wrong?!" Sakurai-san noticed my reaction and rushed to my side. Her eyes were filled with worry and anxiety.

"This... should I tell her..." I hesitated.

"Please, tell me. I'm really worried about Shirogane-san..." Sakurai-san's earnest gaze pushed me to make a decision.

I sighed deeply.

Should I tell her this heavy truth? As Shirogane's friend, does she have the right to know? Or would it be better for her not to know?

The streetlights outside cast a lonely glow. We had only a short time left until 8 PM.

In this dark music room, I was forced to make a decision.

"Sakurai-san... I'll tell you. But this is a secret that can't be shared with anyone," I began, my voice heavy with the weight of the truth.

"Shirogane-san and... Shirota-sensei are together," I said.

"Wh-what...?" Sakurai-san's eyes widened in shock.

"But that's not all. Kondo-senpai... she..." I continued, explaining Kondo-senpai's unrequited love for Shirota-sensei for three years and her despair upon discovering his relationship with Shirogane. Her ultimate act of destroying the flute.

"That can't be... Kondo-senpai would do that..." Sakurai-san's expression was a mix of shock and disbelief.

"But Shirogane-san's performance might be okay. Shirota-sensei promised to lend her his own flute," I added.

"That's good... but..." Sakurai-san's face was a mix of emotions.

I made my decision.

"I'll show you the evidence," I said, taking out my phone and touching the flute again. The phone displayed the memories, and I played the video for Sakurai-san.

Kondo-senpai sneaking into the music room.

"Why... why Shirogane..." she cried, destroying the flute.

"This is... what I saw with my ability," I explained.

Sakurai-san watched the screen, her breath caught in her throat.

"Sato-kun... what should we do with this secret..." she asked, her voice filled with determination.

"To protect Shirogane-san, we have to keep it to ourselves. But for Kondo-senpai..." I replied.

"I understand. I'll talk to Kondo-senpai. As the student council president and Shirogane-san's friend," Sakurai-san said, her voice steady.

"And we have the evidence too," I added, showing her the phone.

With this, it should prevent anything like this from happening again.

"Hey, Sato-kun... about your ability. I promise I won't tell anyone," Sakurai-san said.

"Thank you..." I replied.

Outside, it was already completely dark. The on-duty teacher would be closing the school gates soon.

We left the music room, carrying the heavy secret between us. I didn't know what would happen next, but at least Shirogane's performance seemed to be safe.

And one more thing—Sakurai-san and I shared another secret that night.

"Before we go, let me check one more thing," I said, touching the flute again. The memories, emotions, and images flooded into me like waves.

Shirogane's heartbeat echoed in my mind.

"Today too, alone with Shirota-sensei..." After-school lessons. Sensei's gentle guidance. Shirogane's cheeks flushed. She shyly lifted her skirt. Sensei slowly traced her slit over her panties with his finger. Shirogane's moans. Her wet panties. He moved her underwear aside and entered her. Their bodies moved in sync, their breaths mingling. They convulsed together.

The next memory.

"Want to go for a drive?" Shirota-sensei's car by the sea. Watching the sunset together. Sensei's smiling profile as he drove. Shirogane, in the passenger seat, performing oral sex on Sensei. The darkening sea. The car creaked and swayed. The car seat soaked with Shirogane's love juices.

"Happy birthday," Sensei's gift. A small cake. A private celebration for two. Shirogane's trembling fingers as she opened the present.

"Sensei... thank you..." Tears of happiness welled up in her eyes. The memories kept flooding in.

Two people's secret moments of happiness, like a kaleidoscope. Each one sweet, bitter, and heart-wrenching.

"Amazing..." I realized my phone was saving the video data. Shirogane and Shirota-sensei's unknown, precious memories.

"Sato-kun?" Sakurai-san looked at me, concerned.

"I'm okay. It's just... Shirogane-san's feelings are so strong, they're almost painful..." I explained.

Truly pure feelings. Yet, they had to be kept secret. The bittersweet agony of it all pierced my heart.

"Shirogane-san..." Sakurai-san's eyes also glistened with tears.

It was a strange ability. Touching an object revealed its past, and now it could even save the memories to my phone. But this wasn't the time to boast about my ability.

Because right now, we were in the midst of Shirogane's bitter love story, a secret that couldn't be shared with anyone.
