Chapter 4 - Ep 4 -“Mommy’s A Hero, Daddy’s A Demon, and I’m Just Hungry”

[Scene: Early Morning – Maou Family Apartment, Tokyo]

Sunlight spilled into the cramped apartment like it owned the place. The smell of burnt toast drifted from the tiny kitchen where Ragna Maou, former Demon Lord of the Ninth Hell, was at war with a toaster.

"I command thee! Yield the bread!" he yelled, smoke curling from the appliance.

It sparked. He yelped. The toast shot out like a cannonball and hit the ceiling.

"...Another victory for House Maou," he declared, fist raised proudly.

Meanwhile, Sakura Maou (née Haruhime), ex-Hero of the Celestial Blade, sat at the table in a pristine white office shirt, sipping coffee like she wasn't married to an overpowered culinary disaster.

"Ragna," she said calmly, "you vaporized the microwave last week. Try not to pick a fight with the toaster too."

"Weak machines cannot comprehend my power," he muttered.

"Maybe your power should comprehend a cookbook."

In the middle of this morning mayhem sat their daughter, Lily Maou—age 5, half-demon, half-hero, 100% chaos—glaring at the empty plate before her.

"I'm hungry," she said flatly.

"You'll have toast in a minute, sweetie," Sakura replied.

"But Mommy, I'm really hungry. Like… 'dimension-ripping' hungry."

Both parents froze.

"…What did she just say?" Sakura asked slowly.

Ragna turned. "Lily. Sweetheart. Did you eat any… glowing objects this week?"

Lily tilted her head. "Does magical candy from the kindergarten lost-and-found count?"

Ragna's face paled.

Sakura shot up. "What kind of magical candy!?"

"It was floating. And sparkly. It hummed when I licked it."

"…Ragna," Sakura whispered, voice trembling, "please tell me that wasn't—"

"—a Chaos Crystal? Yeah, it was a Chaos Crystal."

Lily blinked. "I thought it was a jawbreaker."

[Scene: Tokyo – An Hour Later]

The sky over Tokyo flickered faintly—like a lightbulb about to explode.

Somewhere in the city, vending machines vibrated. A crow spontaneously exploded into glitter. A businessman grew bunny ears and kept calmly texting as if this was normal.

And in the subway, a glowing portal opened… spewing out a swarm of baby shadow imps, all squealing like hungry raccoons on Red Bull.

Back at the Maou apartment, Lily was pouting in a blanket burrito while her parents paced in circles.

"I told you not to let her near that dimension box!" Sakura shouted.

"She's five! She thought it was a toy!"

"She teleported her teacher last week!"

"Kids need to experiment!"

"She ate a piece of ancient demonic entropy!"

Lily sniffled. "Can I still have pancakes?"

"No pancakes until we seal the anomaly!" Sakura barked.

"Then I'll fix it myself!" Lily declared, leaping off the couch and… floating mid-air.

Both parents froze again.

"…She's flying," Ragna muttered.

"She shouldn't be flying," Sakura said.

"I'm flying!" Lily cheered. "Wait… my tummy's glowing."

Indeed, a small glyph pulsed softly from her belly, a strange rune of demonic origin mixed with heroic sigil script. A power surge radiated outward, shaking the furniture.

Ragna dropped his teacup. "Okay, we have approximately thirteen minutes before she goes full apocalyptic toddler."

Sakura clapped her hands. "Gear up!"

[Scene: Magical Anomaly Epicenter – Ueno Park]

The cherry blossoms fluttered gently as if unaware that a small black hole had opened above the koi pond.

Around the rift, curious joggers had stopped to take selfies. One teenage boy was live-streaming the whole thing on MeToku with the caption:

> "👀Yo this portal looks like my GPA — hollow and dangerous."

Suddenly, POOF! Lily materialized in the middle of the field, arms crossed.

Behind her, Sakura leapt down from a tree in her old hero uniform—patched and slightly tight after five years of desk work.

Ragna landed like a meteor, a frying pan in one hand, a sword in the other.

"You brought the frying pan?" Sakura hissed.

"It's cast iron. It doubles as a weapon."

"You just didn't want to stop making curry."

"THERE'S RICE IN THE BAG!"

Lily pointed at the swirling portal.

"I'm gonna close that thing and get pancakes," she declared.

One of the shadow imps poked its head out of the rift. "Pancakes?" it squeaked.

Lily's eyes glowed pink.

"BAD IMPS GET NO PANCAKES!"

[Scene: Magical Combat, But Make It Cute]

The battle was… adorable.

Lily floated midair, tiny pigtails flapping, as sparkles exploded around her. She channeled a half-formed energy beam that looked suspiciously like a Hello Kitty sticker projectile.

Sakura moved like lightning, slicing through the more aggressive imps with non-lethal sword arcs, using a blend of divine speed and awkward mom-grunting ("Ugh, my back!").

Meanwhile, Ragna—

"—IS UNLEASHING THE FIRES OF PAN FRY!" he roared, smacking imps with flaming ginger chicken.

Every time one touched the sauce, it whimpered, curled up, and exploded into a tiny poof of smoke… that smelled delicious.

Lily turned to them.

"Mama! Papa! My tummy is gonna burst!"

"That means the Chaos Candy is about to release its final burst of mana!" Sakura yelled.

Ragna grabbed a rice ball from his coat pocket. "Here, kiddo. Eat this instead!"

Lily caught it midair.

Took a bite.

Her aura spiked, magic surged… and then…

FWOMP.

A huge bubble of light expanded outward—then popped harmlessly, sending a gust of spring wind across the park.

All the shadow imps disappeared.

The portal slowly closed with a gentle whoosh, like a magical sigh of relief.

The cherry blossoms kept falling.

And Lily?

She burped.

"...Tasted like soy sauce."

[Scene: Later That Night – Back at Home]

Lily was back in her pajamas, curled up on the couch with a hot cocoa.

Sakura lay flat on the floor. "We need a magical childcare expert."

Ragna flipped an omelet one-handed. "We need stronger rice balls."

Sakura turned her head toward him. "Did you just weaponize food?"

"Yes. It's my love language."

"...Stop being kind of hot while cooking."

He smirked. "Can't help it."

Lily perked up. "So can I have pancakes now?"

Sakura groaned. "Fine. But we really need to set some rules about eating glowing stuff."

Ragna placed a plate of pancakes in front of Lily, shaped like tiny dragons. "Next time, ask Daddy before absorbing unstable cosmic sugar."

Lily clapped. "Yay! Next time I'll chew slower!"

Sakura paled. "THERE'S A NEXT TIME!?"

[Final Scene: A Mysterious Figure… Watching]

Far from Tokyo, in a dark cave lit by ancient runes, a shadowed figure stared into a floating mirror.

He watched Lily devour pancakes with unholy delight.

"So… the Hero and the Demon Lord had a child," he muttered.

He turned to a massive beast chained behind him.

"She's awakening."

The beast growled.

The figure smiled.

"Let the world believe it's at peace. The next anomaly is coming."
