Chapter 10 - Silent Apocalypse

The worlds largest cities stand as forgotten concrete jungles reclaimed by nature, birds nest in the thousands of skyscrapers, wild animals roam the re-vegetated streets, predators lurk in the alleys. The towns are nothing more than piles of rubble from decades of brutal weather, they are no different from the colossal landfills that cover much of the planet.

The inhabitants. Humans. Extinct.

Nothing lasts forever. Time eventually caught up with the human race, with the earth exhausted of every single resource it was only a matter of time before they fell. The power failed first, nuclear reactors shutdown for good, fossil fuels depleted shortly after, renewables couldn't be maintained and eventually failed. Clean water and food went second, famines spread over the world like a plague, millions starved to death. The collapse of society was third, thousands of years worth of advancements reverted in mere months. The small tribes that remained perished along with what was left of their history, technology, culture. The greatest power, time.

Now the earth waits millennia for the cycle to begin once again.
