Chapter 3 - Introductions

"While we wait for Advir to wake up let's get introductions out of the way" announced Teddy before he sent a few messages on his phone.

Moments later a few new people walked into the room. Todd was shocked when he started looking at them. Everyone he was around was a super model. Perfect skin. Perfect face. Well built bodies. Todd was jealous for sure.

The first to come over was a tall man with dark skin. Not quite as tall as Teddy but still much taller than Todd. He had a more round face, probably thanks to his beard that went down to his belly. His eyes were a vibrant hazelnut and reminded Todd of hot cocoa.

"My names Jack and I'm what you would probably call the elder of the group." His voice was deep and soothing like the constant thrum of a waterfall. Todd was curious if Jack ever tried doing audio books. It would definitely sell out just based on his voice, even if what he read was not appealing at all.

Todd introduced himself to Jack and they shook hands before the next person moved forward. This one was a girl about the same height as Todd and had curly hair that was a dull green. That was strange to Todd as most people he knew in higher society didn't dye their hair. In fact Todd couldn't think of a single person that did.

"My names Liz. Short for Elizabeth." She said with a sweet voice. Her voice was a bit higher than Rebecca's making her sound much younger but it was still very pleasant, like the whistle of a flute. She had rosy cheeks and dimples. Her ears were slightly pointed and her chest was much more pronounced than Rebecca's.

Todd gave his greeting to her doing his best not to let his eyes wander. Luckily all of them were in black suit pants and jackets with a button up shirt and tie, making Todd's job a lot easier.

"And I'm chuck. Although this is probably the only time we'll ever meet as I'm from the lesser territory to the south" the last man said. He was a rough looking brute. Still vary handsome compared to your average joe. He had white hair that came from age and wrinkles around his eyes.

Todd took a second before remembering what the lesser part meant. The current nation they were in was the greater human nation. Not technically an official title but still what everyone calls it. The one to the south is the lesser human nation. They're the only two nations with humans in charge as far as Todd knew.

The distinction between greater and lesser was decided because of the walls. The lesser nation had the same stone wall around it but it was smaller by about a third.

Once the introductions were finished Teddy pointed at a nearby table and the group moved to take a seat. Todd ended up between Rebecca and Jack with Liz next to Rebecca.

Chuck decided not to sit as he instead said his goodbyes and walked through a portal. "Don't worry about him. Chuck will be back eventually" Teddy said before making some gestures like he wanted someone to do something for him. About a minute later some maids showed up and poured tea for everyone. Then set a plate of sweets in the middle of the table and left as quickly as they came.

Rebecca decided to start off the conversation. "Do you know anything about us Todd? Other than I starred in a movie?"

"I don't think so" Todd was fairly confident he didn't know them but was a little too nervous to be direct about it. He didn't know if he should know them but he also didn't know dragons were even real so Todd's mind was a bit shaken.

Teddy jumped in to save Todd. "That's only natural, right Rebecca? I mean, we do spend a lot of money keeping ourselves out of public view."

"It was just a question. It's not like he was gonna get punished for a wrong answer." Rebecca rolled her eyes as she looked away from Teddy.

"Stop with the distractions and tell him what's going on already. He looks like a scared little cat." That was Liz's way of moving the conversation along.

Rebecca sighed before beginning from the top. "Alright. Todd you have obtained what we call imbuement. It's basically a power given to you by the leader of a beast pack. The imbuement changes slightly depending on the beast that gave it to you but you'll learn with time. I haven't seen a gold crown butterfly give an imbuement before so we will only be able to teach you the basics and the rest will be trial and error.

"The first few things you need to know are as follows. One, is that you're now an immortal champion. The champion part is actually up to you as some immortals aren't great in a fight. The immortal part is yours to keep."

Rebecca paused for a bit to let Todd think. She had just given him some life changing information and most people took a while to fully grasp the concept.

"So you're saying I'll live forever?" Todd was handling this better than they thought. It wasn't the first time someone was so relaxed but it was a relief after the last few recruits.

"Yes and no. There are some ways to kill an immortal but outside of those few instances, yes you will live forever." Todd felt reassured by Rebecca's words. He didn't like the idea of dying but he was also only 16 so he understood that position might change with age. For now though, Todd was excited.

"We also need to inform you of a legal designation for you and our group. As we are powerful and capable of things even the strongest mages can't do, the government has decided we, to include you, are no longer considered human."
