These past few weeks has been a great one until I went to church with Elena.I used to go to church with my Ex-girlfriend . The next week she left and that gave me PTSD.
The TV flickered in front of me, colors and sounds blending into meaningless noise. I wasn't watching. Couldn't.
Elena's head rested against my shoulder, her warmth seeping into me, and still, the unease refused to fade. I had her right here , close enough that I could feel her breathing , and yet part of me couldn't stop replaying that damn moment at church.
Jared's arms around her. The familiarity in the way he said her name. The way she smiled at him , soft, natural, genuine., sparked Jealousy within me.
It wasn't her fault. I knew that. God, I knew that.
But it burned.
It had been years since I'd felt jealousy like this , raw, ugly, clawing beneath my ribs. I'd thought I'd outgrown it. That I was above it.
