"Mail window," he whispered. He was now alone — the perfect time to check out the loots.

"Why does this thing remind me of my days with poverty?" Shyam muttered, glaring at the picture on his system window named the earthly beastful upgrade stone - 100!>, which, to be honest, is a fancy name!
"Wasn't this the thing that cost over one hundred thousand Virtual gold?" he murmured.
"What does this thing do anyway?" He rested his elbow on his leg as he made a 'thinking' face.
"This is an upgrade stone, peasant master," Raitha said.
"I can see that!" Shyam hissed at her.
"I mean to ask, what does it do?" he asked quietly this time, so as to not increase his own blood pressure. Wouldn't wanna die from overspeed blood after surviving a fucking tier one level sixty ogre boss!
"Anger will eat you rotten, peasant master!
Now listen. This stone is used to level up or tier up your beasts. Not to feel special about it — they exist in reality as well." She answered, her voice tired. As if she had just worked an eight-hour shift.
With a yawn, she fell asleep.
How is she this tired?!> Shyam murmured as he claimed the loot.
"How should I use this?" he murmured as he looked closely at it.
"Raitha's asleep too...
I should just store it for now." He stored the upgrade stone in his storage ring and jumped off the bed. His injuries had not healed fully yet, though they weren't bad enough to hold him on the bed either.
The door opened slightly.
"May I help you, sir?" A woman in a maid outfit peeked inside. Eyes dark brown and those the size of a fountain. The moment he laid eyes upon her face, and then her chest, Shyam's eyes almost burst with whatever he had just seen.
tharki buddha!> The sudden slang crossed his mind. One that he never actually got the chance to speak of. But then he remembered — HE HAD A WIFE!
"Do you know where I can buy medicines in this city?" he asked.
He had seen Ravina take countless pills during or after battles. Or just randomly while they walked. She had told him that eating them boosted her strength, or healed faster, or even helped her calm her mind so that she could focus on the fight.
But he was just too ashamed to ask for one. After all... A MAN!
Before Ravina left, she handed him his share of the reward. Five gold coins, ten more silver coins than he deserved. She said she liked him, and that's why she gave him that. Though not quite sure what she meant, he accepted it. At last, right now he needed money more than anything!
"Well, you could visit the apothecary group," she answered. Calm and soft, her voice was clean. Despite her, uhm... size being so massive, her behaviour was not of that sort of woman at all.
After being told about the apothecary group, they both left the house with the permission of the deputy mayor.
Moments later, he found himself standing outside a building bigger than the adventurers' guild and with more people than in the adventurers' guild. The building had a large sign above

in highlighted green letters.
They entered it, slow steps. Inside the building, he saw many rare herbs sealed behind glass boxes to probably show their rare finds.
There were five receptionists standing behind the counter with a scripted line for each person who attended them. A fake smile and a green outfit.
Shyam and the maid walked to one of the receptionists. He wasn't sure what he wanted, but he was just so amazed by these buildings that he couldn't bring himself to stop.
"Welcome to the apothecary group, sir, is there anything specific you would like to purchase?" the receptionist asked.
"Some basic healing pills, please," Shyam said.
Ravina often used that pill to recover. But he himself never used them before.
"I am sorry, but we don't have them in stock right now. Could you wait a few hours? We can deliver it to your house directly, with some extra charge as well!" she said. Her voice scripted even still, as if she had no voice of her own.
But that did not surprise Shyam even a little. At last, he too was a manager at some company before, eh?
He didn't need them urgently, so even if they delayed it he didn't really care, though the delivery part could be tricky as he was now currently living under the shade of the mayor.
Should he tell them to deliver it to the mayor's house?
Suddenly, a man whispered from behind Shyam.
"Sir. The master has called for you," he said, and vanished into nowhere.
"Th—the mayor?" the receptionist mumbled in surprise.
"Sir! I will arrange as many basic healing pills as I can. Please forgive my rudeness from before!" She bowed as if she feared if she didn't, he would sever her head without a second thought.
That really was fearsome, as their reaction told things he might not have gotten to know about from the mayor himself. The truth: the citizens feared the mayor to such an extent that they would start begging just at the mention of his presence behind anyone. That is not how a leader should behave. Never!
"No, it's okay really! Just deliver the pills at the mayor's house," he said as he followed the maid, who showed him around the city a little more before reaching back to the house.
There she left him before a door — a door that yelled "I am luxurious!" with beautiful patterns drawn on it. formation?!> He pushed the door.
"Well, welcome Shyam. I heard you are exploring my city quite well," the mayor said as he sat in his soft chair smoking a cigarette.
"I see the mayor is spying on me," Shyam replied as he sat down before him.
"Oh no, of course I wouldn't dream to do that. In fact, my maid is just 'watching' over you as you have not recovered fully yet," Arohanik said as he placed down a circular token on the table.
Brown, made of rare wood and with an open book symbol.
"What's this?" Shyam asked.
"It's a pass to our library, thought you might want to read about things around here."
"Oh! Thanks! I'll gladly take it," Shyam said as he slipped the token in his storage ring.
Ever since he came here in this world, his knowledge had been so limited that he felt like the biggest idiot in history for asking things even a little kid would know.
Even though he looked like a TWENTY-SIX-YEAR-OLD MAN DAMN!
"Also, if you ever need any medicine, please do ask me. I will gladly provide you with it." Calm — the voice he spoke with was just so calm no one would suspect just how feared the citizens were of this city.
But to think that even after being so scared of this mayor, they still obeyed him.
"...Yes, of course," Shyam whispered and left the room afterwards.
Outside the office room, he found that same maid standing there, almost as if she was not a human but a doll.
"Hey, uh... Do you know where the library is?" he asked.
"Yes, sir, if you'd follow me, please," the maid bowed as she raised her hand toward one direction.
Shyam kept following her until they reached the doors of the library. The smell of the books could be sensed even from outside, though not sure if it should be considered good because the smell seemed more like rotten paper.
There was a small hole the size of the token, above it was [ insert token here ].
Shyam stared at it for a moment. And then, without inserting the token, he entered the room. The doors smoothly opened as if it was never locked.
"Knew it!" He exhaled.
"Why did they have the token anyway if anyone could enter the room?" he murmured as he looked at the books.
There were over a thousand books stored on those stone shelves. But not a single particle of light streamed through the closed windows.
The maid stood outside in that same posture. Like a doll!
Walking slowly, he touched the first book he could.

"What the fuck!" Shyam yelled the moment he read the name of the book.
Was this the reason the books were getting rotten? Because the mayor had no wife yahahaha!
the maid outside the library flinched when shyam shout so suddenly, but she kept her doll like posture intact.
For the next five minutes, he just wandered into void, thinking if he should even continue touching the other books or not. Though what was more concerning was that, the mayor fucking told him he could learn about things around here.
Do people do sex around here? Is that what he meant by that?
Trying to shake it off, he still kept touching the books one by one.
One every three seconds or so, and the system windows just kept popping up every three seconds or so.
In just under one hour, he touched the last book on the farthest corner of the room.

In the entire library that contained over a thousand books, less than five hundred of them were actually useful to Shyam.
The others were mostly romance novels and stuff, though it is a wonder why the mayor must read these things.
"Now let's start reading everything one by one," he murmured as he opened the collection window.
"Fuck," he exhaled as he looked at the thousands of books that rested in his system.
He thought that he could know much more about this world after reading this many books. But how is he supposed to read this many books exactly?
Matter of fact, why did he get so many books in the first place!
"Why not just combine a few?" Raitha said as she suddenly appeared above his head and sat down like a queen.
