Chapter Eight – The Envoy's Ultimatum
The grand hall of the Ironfang Territory was heavy with silence. Massive stone pillars lined the walls, and shadows flickered from the torches burning bright.
Selene stood beside Kaien and Kairo, her heart hammering as the council's envoy stepped forward — a tall, stern woman clad in silver and black.
"Alphas Thorn," the envoy's voice rang out, cold and unwavering. "You harbor a mate bonded to two alphas. This is an abomination against our laws."
Kaien's jaw tightened. "She is our mate. We will protect her."
The envoy's gaze flicked to Selene. "You will return to your original pack. This bond is forbidden, and it cannot stand."
Selene's eyes burned with defiance. "I belong with those who saved me — not those who abandoned me."
Murmurs rippled through the council chamber.
Kairo stepped forward, voice sharp. "We will not relinquish her. If you seek war, so be it."
The envoy's face hardened. "Then prepare for the consequences."
As the envoy turned and exited, the weight of the ultimatum settled over them all.
Selene squeezed the twins' hands, her resolve hardening.
No matter the odds, she would fight for her place — with Kaien and Kairo by her side.
