what sounds she'd make when...

"Where in the world did that stunning woman come from?" Pulling my head from examining a patient's chart, I follow Dan's gaze.

He lets out a low whistle while looking towards the reception area.

Annoyance and a jolt of jealousy shoot through me, and I have no idea why.

Maybe it's the way he said it, or the tone in his voice, but I look past him to see what he's talking about.

The blonde woman we both have our eyes on now looks like she just stepped off a magazine cover.

Or what I'm guessing a supermodel would look like.

Though from the pictures I've seen of models in magazines, her curves are far better.

Her platinum-blonde hair cascades all the way to her waist, where the ends gently curl. It makes me want to wrap my finger around one of them, grab a handful as I… well, you get the idea.

I wonder what sounds she'd make if I...

Her short, tailored dress hugs her curves perfectly and highlights her long legs.

My eyes trace down to the ridiculously tall heels she's wearing.

I have no idea how she's even walking in them on the polished hospital floor.

The way she's dressed makes me think she must be incredibly wealthy.

What she's doing here, I have no clue, because she clearly doesn't fit in.

She looks over at us, as if she feels our eyes on her.

Her gray eyes meet mine, and it's like a punch to my gut.

All the air leaves my lungs, and all my blood rushes south.

It makes me feel light-headed, and I grip the counter for support.

I'm too old to get a reaction like this just from looking at a woman.

Thirty-eight isn't ancient, but it's too old to be getting turned on by something so simple.

Too old to be having dirty thoughts about a random woman, something I haven't done since I was a hormonal teenager.

I don't just sleep with anyone.

A slight smile plays on her lips, and it's as if she's trying to appear innocent or something.

Must be part of her charm.

When she finally pulls her eyes from mine, I feel an unexplainable sense of loss.

Damn. That can't be good.

"I've got this one, boss," Dan says with a smug grin on his face.

It's a look I know all too well, and I can see he's about to go greet the blonde at the front desk.

Before he can take two steps, I'm grabbing him by the arm.

That is absolutely not happening.

Dan always has women wrapped around his finger.

Scratch that, wrapped around his… well, you know.

He's got women falling at his feet whenever we go out, and it's probably because he's always talking.

From what he says, I seem to have a 'don't talk to me' look plastered across my face, scaring them all away.

I have the urge to lay him out just for thinking about talking to her, but I push the feeling back because it's utterly ridiculous.

Like either of us has a chance with a woman like that.

Who knows what she's doing in a small town like this.

Probably just passing through, and something went wrong with her health.

Here today, gone tomorrow.

The thought makes my gut clench.

I'll need a taste before she's gone.

Something I'm sure won't be easy.

"Finish up with that patient. I'll handle her." The irritation in my voice is clear as I order him back to work.

I want to be the first to talk to her, but I see Joey beat me to it when I enter the reception area.

"How long have you been feeling that discomfort?" Joey asks, pulling a pen from her dark black ponytail.

When her hair catches the light in a certain way, it almost looks blue.

"Well, I was—" The blonde patient stops talking when she finally notices I've joined them in the office.

A slight blush hits her cheeks, and it makes my… well, you know. Double damn.

A simple blush is making me ache with need.

I hear Joey drop her notepad onto the counter, and I look over to see her rolling her eyes and returning the pen to her ponytail.

"I was sure it would be Dan," Joey says with a smirk on her face. I'm sure she did think it would be Dan, because chasing women isn't something I do.

But it seems this little patient has me bending some rules.

"He's busy, and he needs your help." It's a lie.

Dan can finish the job on his own, but I don't need Joey in here giving me grief or gathering information she can tease me about later.

She snorts but exits through the door I just entered, leaving me and the patient all alone.

We both just stare at each other.

I've never seen a woman so perfect in my life.

There is something about her, how flawlessly she is put together, that makes me want to… well, you get the picture.

She'd be so disheveled when I was done with her.

My hands would smudge all over her clothes, her hair would be wild after I… you know, and her makeup would be smeared. I could look at her and know I did that.

That I made this perfect little slip of a woman get messy for me, and she'd love it, beg me to do it over and over again until she was… well, you know.

She finally breaks eye contact, pulling those gray eyes from mine. It's then I realize that I'm staring at her like a lovesick puppy.

I clear my throat and get to the subject before I… well, you know, thinking about all the things I want to do to her.

"Your appointment?" My voice comes out deeper than I mean for it to be as I make my way around the counter. I need to get a little space between us and conceal my reaction before I scare her off.

"Oh, yes," she says, biting her lip. I want to tell her to stop that, but I just brace my arms on the counter, waiting for her to continue. "I just go

t to town, and I started feeling some weird sensation in my lower abdomen, and I haven't had my menses as per my calendar. "
