"Hey, my name's Rin and I'm a Wizard."
After some time, the mage in charge of completing my guild posting introduced herself.

I reached out my hand to her and introduced myself politely too.
"I'm Renji Takamura, an adventurer."
After shaking her hand, which was surprisingly delicate and cold.
We left the adventurers' guild at a leisurely pace, heading toward the outskirts of town.
Along the way, I couldn't help but notice details about Axel town.
Yesterday, I didn't really have time to pay much attention to my surroundings because of the urgency.
But things are different now.
Maybe because of her extroverted and cheerful nature, Rin seemed interested in me and noticed my... amazement at the medieval fantasy town.
So she started explaining the nature of certain shops and stores after hearing about my race.
"So you're a Crimson Demon with no knowledge of magic? Pfff haha!"
After learning this during our conversation, the young girl with a childish face and brown hair couldn't stop laughing for a while.
I just sighed tiredly, but it's not a secret and would be hard to hide anyway.
I literally have the typical traits of the Crimson Demon clan, and I need to learn magic from a mage.
So she should know.
"Don't pout hehe~, I'll teach you an intermediate spell and the 4 basic magic spells quickly," she said, giving a thumbs up.
I smiled and nodded.
"Thanks."
Eventually, we stopped outside Axel town.
"How many skill points do you have?"
"Currently, I have 16."
That was easy to gather since I already had 10 points and got 6 points from the frogs.
Unlike Kazuma during his first quest, I didn't share my XP with another person.
And I killed twice as many frogs because I did the quest twice!!
"Whoa, you've got quite a few... are you really sure you want to use them now?"
It seems Rin has some level of knowledge about Crimson Demon culture.
Normally, the Crimson Demon clan considers a member an adult under one condition.
They must learn at least one advanced-level spell.
Unfortunately, that's not my case.
So according to their culture... I'm still immature or a child.
An annoying situation, especially because of my shota appearance.
"I'm not at the village and I'm confident enough to gather the necessary points soon to confirm my ascension to adulthood."
After a moment of hesitation, Rin nodded and started explaining magic to me.
Natural magic or magic without the system's assistance for learning has been lost or forgotten in the Konosuba universe because of the system's simplicity.
Normally, I wouldn't have needed Rin to learn spells.
I would have simply used my skill points and guild card to learn, but the adventurer class required Rin's assistance.
This shows the system's accessibility compared to traditional learning.
So my adventurer class forced me to beg mages (and other classes) for their abilities.
"Tinder" — a small fireball the size of a fist appeared in Rin's hand.
"This is basic magic, you can use it in daily life but it's useless in combat."
I nodded at her explanation out of formality while buying Flame magic for 1 point.
After that, she showed me a total of 5 basic magics:
Freezer, Create Water, Wind Breath, and Create Earth.
All of this cost me 5 skill points, leaving me with 11.
"What intermediate magic do you have?"
At the mention of available intermediate magic, Rin puffed out her modest chest with pride.
"I know a lot, like..."
I had a choice between:
• Blade of Wind: magic that creates a wind blade capable of violently slashing a target.
• Wind Curtain: invokes a tornado that acts as a protective barrier. According to Rin, it can stop a rain of arrows.
• Lightning: invokes a lightning strike from the magic user's hands.
• Fireball: invokes a fireball that explodes on the target aimed at by the user and, according to Rin, its power is enough to incinerate about 10 kobolds at once.
• Freeze Gust: creates an icy white fog that can disorient and hurt the target.
Honestly, I was amazed and impressed by the versatility of the magic demonstrated by Rin in front of me.
The choice was really difficult, but I decided to take the intermediate Lightning magic.
Although intermediate magic requires using an incantation, Rin mentioned the existence of exceptional mages who can use it like basic magic.
Yes, there are people who use intermediate magic without chanting, thanks to their fame.
"Excellent choice, I like that spell too," she said, trying to pat my head.
Of course, I easily dodged this display of affection that was too childish for my taste.
"Hmph..." Because of my dodge, Rin started pouting on the ground.
"Sorry, I don't appreciate that kind of affectionate display... we can start with this."
I extended my hand to help her up.
She seemed to want to deny or clarify her real ulterior intentions, but she ended up shaking her head in resignation.
"...idiot."
I ignored that little word and headed back to town.

As Luna warned me, the adventurer class stats increase inefficiently.
Unlike specialized classes, this one distributes stat points randomly and not to specific stats.
For example, Megumin: if she levels up, then her magic power will increase along with her intelligence.
On the other hand, my three stat points are distributed randomly across my statistics.
This further explains the unpopularity of the adventurer class.
"If I had chosen the Archwizard class, I would have had a proper increase in my magic and intelligence."
"What are you mumbling about?"
I was too absorbed in my guild card information and ended up forgetting about Rin a bit.
"Nothing, I'm just wondering if I could find a way to compensate for my class's weakness," I said honestly.
Rin took a quick glance at my guild card before grimacing slightly at the word "adventurer."
"Honestly, there are few real solutions besides... money or personal training."
I silently nodded to her, as that's the solution that came to me too.
With each level increase, 3 stat points are distributed randomly.
This prevents me from being as efficient as specialized classes like Wizard or Archwizard.
On the other hand, I become very versatile.
I need to buy potions that can permanently increase my statistics.
I'll compensate for the rest with items or consumables, like Kazuma in the light novel.
"We've finally reached the end," I said in a fake sad tone.
Strangely, Rin took this too seriously.
"Sorry, but we can't work together, Renji."
She explained to me with a sorry tone that she's already in a party, and their leader is named Dust.
At the mention of their leader's name, she had a gentle expression for a brief moment.
It seems she has feelings for Dust.
Am I going to back down?
No!
But I'll take things slowly.
After all, I remember that Dust has a bad personality in the light novel.
I just need to maintain a good relationship, and an opportunity will eventually come.
"No problem, how many Eris do I owe you?"
I had already paid the guild for playing intermediary, but I kind of forgot about the negotiation with Rin.
We were too absorbed in various discussions.
"No problem, it's free for you."
The teenager left after her preferential treatment.
I returned to the guild hoping to meet my future party member, but... I had a funny surprise.
Next to a staff member, a girl about my height looked at me with a surprised expression.
"Hel..."
I didn't really have time to greet her before she quickly introduced herself first.
"In this evening bathed by the twilight light, I, Archwizard Megumin, who has tamed Explosion magic, greet my scarlet blood companion!"
