Chapter 2 - Chapter 1- a new life

"Look! Look at his eyes! His eyes are mismatched!" The soft whispers grow louder as my 109th life begins.

"Poor kid… I wonder what his father will say about this…" The nurse close to me says.

"Hide him… Nurse Julie. Say he died during birth. Please, I beg you.. Take care of him. Take care of my Millian.." The voice belonging to the arms that are holding me cries.

I know. This is my 4th time in this world. This is a noble family. A bloodline that can't lack appearance. A bloodline that will be humiliated if a legitimate child did not fully have their traits. I wonder… which family is this…

"QUICK!" I jump as a deafening roar blasts my ears. I feel a transfer of heat and quick scurries as I get wrapped into silk cloth.

"Shhh. you'll be safe with me." Julie whispers into my sensitive ears.

A slight tingle of magic changes my hair colour to a dirty blond.

I can hear a distant, even march enter the building. Perhaps it is because I am a newborn again, or maybe it's the amount of time I have been alive. I can pick up small and distant conversations from here.

The nurse pushes me against herself as she huddles in the corner of her staff residence, careful not to let our presence be felt.

"Where is he? My son." A gruff and deep voice commands. I can feel the dominating waves pulsate throughout my body.

"H-h-he i-is d-d-de-ad…" A maid trembles and stutters. The undeniable presence unsheathes a sword. Plop. The maids head drops to the floor.

"I see. I don't need such a weak baby in my household. If he can't even survive birth. He does not deserve to be a part of this world. The maid was weak, she couldn't deliver the news properly."

Really? That's it? This person is heartless. He was just told his son died before his life began and he didn't even blink… He murdered a person and he didn't flinch.

Julie holds my head possessively as if trying to shield me from breathing the blood stained air. "I'm sorry. I will try to give you the best life possible, Millian."
