Chapter 8 - A great first day

"Whoever ends up last will be etiquetted as 'irremediable' and instantly expelled."

So, here is your great narrator, Akuma Matsumoto—formerly known as Michael Bianco—standing in the middle of UA's training ground, surrounded by a bunch of technically sweaty strangers. Look, I know I said I didn't want any attention on me, but goddamn is it fun to use my quirk without restrictions.

"Next, Matsumoto Akuma and Yaoyorozu Momo."

Aizawa calls us. He doesn't even flinch at my name. I was talking with Mina before that—who ended up being way more charismatic than I expected—before stepping forward.

I glance at Momo. Tall, poised, vibrant. Her long ponytail hangs past her hip. She looks at me but chooses not to say a word. Rude, but alright.

50 METER RACE

Tenya Iida – 3.04 seconds

Matsumoto Akuma – 4.06 seconds

Katsuki Bakugo – 4.13 seconds

Making my legs longer and denser definitely paid off. My quirk is versatility incarnate. I noticed a few disturbed glances when my body returned to normal—but come on, this is UA. They've seen weirder.

Bakugo looks like someone just spat in his food. Third place must not sit well with him.

Oh well.

GRIP TEST

Akuma Matsumoto – 600 kgw

Mezo Shoji – 540 kgw

Yaoyorozu Momo – 500 kgw

Shoji has multiple limbs, sure, but I modified my hand's density instead. Didn't even need to change shape. Precision over spectacle, that's my mantra.

DISTANCE JUMP

Katsuki Bakugo

Shoto Todoroki

Yaoyorozu Momo

Yeah… not my category. I saw Bakugo smiling after his jump. What a jerk, huh?

SIDE JUMP

Minoru Mineta

Tsuyu Asui

Tenya Iida

I absolutely let them win.

THROW TEST

Ochako Uraraka – Infinite (Cheater)

Yaoyorozu Momo – 2760m (Also a cheater)

Matsumoto Akuma – 900m

After my turn, it's time for the real show. Our beloved protagonist finally steps into the spotlight. I can't interfere here—would do more harm than good—but I watch him closely as he holds the ball.

He's nervous. Understandably.

"Matsumoto, what do you think?"

Momo approaches me, face filled with curiosity—and concern.

I point at myself with a grin. "Me? Why does it matter what I think?"

She blinks, clearly surprised by the answer, then clears her throat. "I'm sorry. Did we introduce ourselves? I'm Yaoyorozu Momo. I was hoping to get the point of view of someone like you."

Recognized so quickly, huh? We barely know each other and she's already treating me as an equal. Told you it was worth putting in the effort.

"You're worried he'll be expelled?"

She nods in silence, with an almost guilty look on her face, then continues

-I don't believe in the expulsion, it's not possible at all, but I do feel worried about him-

I shake my finger in a negative way

-Then you should know that he is going to be alright, he not only have the power to be here, but a willpower more strong than any of us could gather-

She looks at me doubting, putting her hand in her chin thinking, while looking at him and then at me

-How do you know?- She asks

I put my finger in my forehead, signaling my brain while smiling

-Pure instinct-

Then the air shifts. A gust of wind blows through the training ground as Deku hurls the ball with everything he has. Hair and uniforms whip in the current.

IZUKU MIDORIYA – 705m

"How?!"

Momo stares, stunned. I just smile and wink.

She asks before looking at me, I respond with a silent smile and a wink, she is amazed, for Midoriya yes, but that emotion also transfered to me, the one that bet for the underdog in the first place

"I can still move, Sensei!"

Deku's voice cracks as he stands tall, tears in his eyes, biting his lip. He's trembling, but he's there. Still standing. Still fighting.

That's not just One For All. That's something else.

Izuku Midoriya… you're going to be my finest pawn in this story.

The rest of the tests? Not even worth mentioning. I place high in most. I made sure my name would be remembered—but not too much.

"It was a lie!"

Aizawa confirms what I already knew. No flinch from me. But the rankings do catch my attention:

1.Yaoyorozu Momo

2.Matsumoto Akuma

3.Shoto Todoroki

4.Tenya Iida

5.Katsuki Bakugo

Not bad.

I praise myself in the back as I made it to the top three, to be completely fair I let myself go most of the time, yes, while it's true I'm supposed to be masterminding things I'm still a young handsome man that lived most of his adult life in a crappy apartment studying from sun to sun just to be rejected of any real job because I lacked experience, in a boring world where the most interesting thing one could do is watch videos in your cell phone that rotted your brain little by....

Ok I let myself go again, but you understand what I'm saying

Let me enjoy this a bit.

Anyway, the day winds down uneventfully. For now. Things are going to get intense fast. Before leaving, I spot Bakugo standing in the hallway, lost in thought.

"Yo. Aren't you that rabid guy from my class?"

A twitch. Gotcha.

"Huh?! What did you just say?!"

He stomps toward me, fists clenched, eyes narrowed. He's smaller than me, but still tries to look down on me. I meet his fury with a pleasant smile.

Time to stir the pot.

"Just wondering… why are you so mad that Izuku got in? You two have history, right? Shouldn't you be happy for him?"

"Hah?! That's none of your damn business, loser!"

An explosion flares in his hand. I remain perfectly still, using my hands to gesture.

"You seem to shake him emotionally. That tells me you used to bully him. Also… you didn't know about his quirk. Suspicious, right?"

He grits his teeth, silent, eyes narrowing.

"Is it... I don't know... maybe... you're scared?"

He nearly lunges at me. I don't move. That hesitation? It's mine now. He stops. Thinks. And walks away, boiling in silence.

"I don't know what the hell you're trying to do, but quit it before I really lose it!"

He storms off.

He says as he leaves, clearly indignated, one could say I didn't fulfill my job of making him so angry he could consider me an opponent, but that wasn't my plan in the slightest

The seed of doubt is already planted. I can't wait to harvest it.
