Kayn travelled through the ice territory quickly with his wings.
And after defeating the ice demon, but failing to kill the demon as the demon just disappeared into nothing without leaving even a single trace.
"If I really meet him again in the next level, then I will make sure he won't get away for the second time…"
After arriving at the earthen territory, the rocky mountains territory, Kayn decided to walk on the ground again.
It was an unknown territory for him, and Kayn wanted to take it slow and make sure no unknown danger would catch him off guard.
Just like before, when Kayn looked at the Rocky Mountains territory, there were rows and rows of mountains in front of him.
Looking at the mountains from below, Kayn couldn't help but be amazed at the sight. The tall mountains looked strong and majestic.
"I understand better now when people say things like 'as strong as the immovable mountains'. Now seeing actual mountains, tens of them beside each other really made you think that they are invincible and no one can go against them no matter what they did…"
Kayn could probably freeze a whole mountain later when he got more strength, but he wasn't sure if he would be able to destroy one anytime soon or in the near future.
"Well, maybe, if I can conjure up an ice spear that was even bigger than the mountain, then it would be possible… But that was on the borderline of my imagination… At least for now."
He was currently headed to one of the mountains, the one that was on the direct path of his way to the Tower.
And Kayn had already killed some more demons, making sure he killed everyone he saw as he needed the souls to saturate his body.
He still lacked enough souls to be able to descend to the second demon realm after all.
But there wasn't anything noteworthy so far other than the mountains, as the demons were just ordinary demons.
Some humanoid, some animalistic, and some even have wings just like him, but their red skin was nothing special. Kayn had killed so many of them before.
Kayn then began gaining confidence as he used his self-strengthening spell to fly again.
He wasn't here to explore the mountains or go to the center of the region to the Earth Temple.
He wanted to go to the Tower, past the rocky mountains, and even if it was nice if he could also gain the earth affinity, but he couldn't take the trial in the earth temple to gain the affinity.
He had already gained the ice affinity, and he couldn't take any more affinity from the elemental temples.
Don't ask Kayn why, he also didn't know. It was just knowledge he gained after becoming a demon.
Kayn had planned that he would be able to cross the region in a few days and arrive at the Tower.
He then would be hunting demons around the area, maxing out the number of souls his body could consume before making it obsolete to consume more without evolving his body first.
That's what Kayn had planned if nothing was interesting in the region, and it just looked similar to the ice region or the neutral one that the newborn demons spawned in.
However, just as he arrived near the base of the first mountain, Kayn stopped his advance and stared at a peculiar yet familiar structure a distance away from him.
Kayn could see tall walls, a watchtower, and a large gate in the middle of the tall walls, all of them seemed to be made out of Earth, standing at the base of the mountain.
Not only that, he saw demons manning the watchtower and patrolling around the walls.
"What the… Is that a… fortress? Here? In the demon world?"
Kayn couldn't believe his eyes and decided to fly closer to take a better look.
After seeing the structure better, Kayn was sure, "It is a damn fortress here… In the first level of the demon world…"
All the demons he had met so far were not completely dumb. They could come up with strategies, and some of them could talk, even if they couldn't, they understood what he was saying.
But none of the demons he had met so far seemed to have the intelligence to be able to come up with the concept of a fortress and patrols.
"Maybe except for that cheater, ice demon, he could probably make a fortress of ice and make the demons fear him and make them his subordinates if he wanted to…"
As Kayn was wondering what the heck a fortress was doing in the demon world, the demons that were inside the watchtowers, and some of the patrol demons who had keen senses, had also noticed Kayn.
Seeing Kayn, a demon with grey skin from head to toe, just flew there and did nothing other than observe, the demons became worried and called out their superiors.
These demons knew that a demon that didn't just start a fight the second they saw other demons meant the demon was a shrewd one.
Moreover, these demons had been commanded so that they would report anything unusual around the area if they found any.
And an ice demon calmly staring at them inside the rocky mountains territory was certainly one of those unusual things that needed to be reported.
Not long after the demons reported inside the fortress, two demons came out of the fortress.
One demon had a huge body. Not only was he as tall as Kayn, but his body was way more muscular than Kayn's was. Not only that, the demon's skin was brown, the same color as the earth below.
On the other hand, the other demon had ordinary red skin, his height was average, and his build was also average, even a bit scrawny. But the demon had wings on his back, and he was currently flying towards Kayn.
Seeing the two demons that felt stronger than the other demons came out of the fortress, Kayn stopped his questioning and instead scanned the two demons.
And when he saw the demon with wings come out to meet him in the air, Kayn quickly went into combat mode as he cast the ice claws spell.
As the scrawny flying demon moved closer, Kayn prepared another spell, an ice bullet, and he would cast it the second the flying demon got into his range.
But before Kayn could cast the spell, the scrawny demon shouted at him.
"Wait! We didn't come here to fight! We want to talk!"
The scrawny demon said as he revealed his empty hands, weak-looking hands that didn't even have claws on them.
Hearing words that he had never thought would come out of a demon's mouth, Kayn decided to play along for now.
But he still had his ice claws out, just in case things went south.
The scrawny demon then led Kayn to the ground, where the earth affinity demon was waiting for them.
Kayn then landed about ten meters away from the earth demon, while the scrawny demon landed right beside the earth demon.
"So, what do you want to talk about?" Kayn asked, his curiosity peaked as he looked at the two demons.
This time, it wasn't the scrawny demons that answered him, instead, it was the earth affinity demon.
"I know you're strong. Join us."
