“W-Why are you asking me this all of a sudden?” Liliette stammered.
Vlad’s expression remained unchanged, his tone calm yet distant as he replied, “When we married, I assumed you might need noble status. But I never thought about… a child. In hindsight, it’s almost amusing.” His gray eyes clouded as he stroked his chin thoughtfully.
Liliette felt an invisible chain tugging at her, dredging old memories to the surface. She knew just how deeply Vlad despised his bloodline.
“Whether it’s the monster that feeds on human flesh or the depraved degenerate who would defile even that… the offspring of such horrors would be nothing short of abominable. And I am the descendant of both.”
