Chapter 53 - Chapter 53: The Art Of Training

"DO YOU WANT TO SPEND THE WHOLE DAY HERE ON THE FIELD, ZARK?"

I was tired of hearing Victoria nagging me the whole day about my movements.

"YEAH! I LOVE TO SPEND SO MUCH TIME WITH YOU AND YOUR ASSISTANTS!" I responded sarcastically.

"AGAIN!"

Easy for her to say when she has four other assistants beside her, and they have small pink bombs with flames of unlimited amounts beside them. There is no chance that this is fair play; I am not fast enough to dodge five attacks simultaneously.

"AGAIN ZARK!" Veronica screamed.

Okay! Let's make a new try.

"LOOOOOOOOSER!" Berk was screaming from the side of the field.

I went back behind the line, took a deep breath...and I rushed forward. A pink ball came from the front, and I went down and dodged it and rolled to the right with more pink balls lit up behind me on the ground. I pushed down my right foot, but a pink ball came in an instant. I turned left, putting a lot of pressure down on my right ankle as one more pink ball barely scrapes my blazer, as fire breaks out from the side of it. I throw it to the side while running to the left, with several balls following my path as I go down again, feeling warmth pass above my head. My left ankle stops my speed with a lot of pain, causing me to react way slower than I anticipated. Two fireballs came towards me from bad angles as I slightly jumped and bent my upper body, managing to dodge the first one. Still, the second had a direct hit on my side. I kept running forward, maintaining a good balance, and increased my speed slightly, despite two more fireballs coming from bad angles. Still, I had a good view and made a quick two-step move left-right and pushed forward in an instant, barely dodging the balls with my left side burning on my shirt, and I jumped up in the air, aiming for Victoria, who just looked at me with an unimpressed expression, and I heard:

"Now!"

Several balls hit me, and before I fell to the ground, I heard the sound of the fire extinguisher. I hit the ground hard with Berk standing there, and kept pressing the damn button so I got covered in foam all over. He kept tapping the damn extinguisher like it was a damn game.

"I think you have covered everything, Berk!" I told him.

He looked at me with a happy face.

"Just one more Zark!" and he tapped the button and filled my foot with foam.

"I THINK IT IS ENOUGH, BERK! STOP TAPPING THE DAMN BUTTON IDIOT!" I told him when he suddenly stopped and gave me the look that we at home call 'The Glare'.

The idiot is the only one who can do it; it is the look of failure.

"Did you realize your mistake, Zark?" Veronica asked, bending her body down towards me while I tried to focus on her face, but why the Hell does she wear a business suit with a big cleavage?

I felt a blower with air going through my body, removing all the foam as Jia Ho blew it towards me, as if I were some big leaf he tried to get rid of. He stopped blowing at me as I noticed my left side hurting, and when I looked down, I saw a burn injury. I need to add that to my long list of injuries. What the Hell are the pink fireballs made of?

"What did you learn, Zark?" Victoria asked.

"That I will never again agree to participate in your training exercises."

"FOCUS!"

"Fine, I was not ready every time I turned."

"That is not the reason; you were not fast enough. Your ankles are all swollen up because you spend too much time on martial arts training, but you have forgotten the most vital part of training. You need to push your body to its core; you need to build strength, become faster, and develop muscles to increase your stamina. These are vital points in your training; without creating a stable body, how will you continue to develop? How will you become faster and stronger?"

She had a point: not growing muscles, getting faster, and improving my stamina. All are vital for the body to keep moving forward.

"How come The Player manages to go through the field every time?" I asked her.

Victoria sighed when I mentioned the idiot Berk.

"Listen, Zark! I am not saying that he is a prodigy; what works in his favor is that he has grown up alongside all the Witches in the organisation, so he does receive special treatment. The leading cause, however, is his ability to cheat, his lack of seriousness, and his unconventional approach to moving on the battlefield. It is tough to read what he is going to do. For example, one time he started to move only to the right, which made the assistants think that he was trying to turn up behind the field, but then he turned left and ran to the left. He made a right turn and sprinted to the right side, then sprinted to the left. When he reached the line, he was jumping around like a clown and moved to the right again. Then, suddenly, he turned forward, moving toward us, and continued doing weird moves back and forth. No enemy would want to meet him on a battlefield, because he lacks a strategy, fails to analyze his enemy or their movements, and charges forward without hesitation. He is an excellent example of someone who will die quickly on the battlefield. That is what I have seen him do since he was a child, and he still does the same type of quirky attacks. That is the reason why he is untrainable; he does whatever he likes."

"Geez! Thanks for the pep talk, Victoria!" Berk commented before helping me up, so I could lean on his shoulders for support.

"Take him to the infirmary and tell the nurse to treat him with the Goblin ointment we got; hopefully, it can help him from getting a scar."

The pain worsened when Berk shrugged his shoulders in response to Veronica's comment when she started to walk away with her assistants.

"Do you not have any sympathy at all when helping out someone injured, idiot? Why are you shrugging your shoulder when I am leaning on it?"

Berk just yawned and moved slowly, together with me, with Jia Ho walking beside us.

"Uncle Zark! Do you think Mom was trying to teach us a lesson? I mean, I do not have any powers, does she want us to focus on more strength training instead of Martial Arts?"

I looked down at Jia Ho, who was scratching his head.

"I am pretty sure she wants us to always be ready in battle, even when the enemy is stronger than us. I think that one part of it is to put your energy into your body." I responded, The kid is just a human; the injuries would probably be even worse if he tried to do this training, as he hasn't inherited any powers from Veronica at all.

"Or! You can be like me!" Berk commented.

"Shut up, Berk! You are the last citizen in all ten towns of Paladin Woods to offer advice to the child. I ban you from giving him any advice...at all!"

Now...

Great! Why did I remember the special training? The distance is the same, but my breathing is not stable. Will the move work, better than nothing? I need to give it a try.
