Chapter 2 - Friends and Maybe More (Rain + Tamar)

A figure was pacing through out their blacken house, deep in the shadows were no one could see a thing. Well that's if you had normal eyes of course but if you didn't and could see through the heavy veil then you would see a young tan woman with pale ashen hair, biting her nails and pacing in circles almost seeming insane.

This young woman was of course Tamar of Sorrow the legacy working for the shadow clan, and the best friend to their princess. Yet of course like most people in the world she hid a terrible secret, and that would be...

She fallen for that princess of course.

Not just fallen for her, but head over heels for the princess, where to the point it has gotten hard making eye contact with her for even a mere moment. It's been hard trying to hide this from her closest friend but she couldn't help it. How was she supposed to admit that to her?

Just go up to her and say 'Oh yeah by the way I have like a major crush on you, hope you don't mind!'

Hell no!

It simply felt impossible for her just to even think about it around Rain, let alone even try talking about it. She couldn't handle these shackles she's put on and yet she still chooses to keep them on. This secret of hers makes it impossible to even think around Rain, well there are thoughts going through her head, its just not ones that should be said out loud.

She felt scared though, scared for her friendship, scared for her reaction for when she finds out, scared to lose her only true friend and one of her first, scared to be judged for how she is. These have to be her most inner fears that no one knows, even the people closest to her don't know.

Even though these thoughts corrupt her mind with doubt, there's one thing that she has to do today. One thing that will take most of her willpower, most of her strength, and everything else she has got to do.

This one thing is... her confession plan.

Her plan of the century, of course had some flaws and even some huge gaps in it but she felt like she had enough acting skills and is confident enough to work this out. Even if it's her first time doing any of this she's confident to hold out long enough for the response. Well that's if there isn't any Rom-Com shenanigans ready to interrupt the whole thing of course.

Finally after shaking her jitters off, she grabs her phone and contacts rain with shaky and nervous hands asking her to meet at a fancy restaurant in Bastion which of course is where Rain happens to be stationed at.

Finally it's time for the plan to be put into action.

***

Standing at the entrance to the restaurant was Tamar who was patiently waiting for Rain, and sadly she was waiting for hours but this wasn't Rain's fault for being late but her own for being four hours early!

She felt a hinge of regret for being too excited and nervous but that quickly faded when she saw Rain and her devious grin she always wore, even if she had seen things people should never have to see at her age. This only made her more amazing in Tamar's eyes though, the spirit she had and the will to never falter made her the most amazing person in the world for her.

Soon though Tamar's gaze shifted to Rain's outfit which only made her face darken with blush and a sparkle in her eyes from awe, that's due to Rain's beautiful ocean blue sundress and matching heels. She felt her heart drop from beauty projecting from Rain, but couldn't show it on her face as she kept it cold as steel. Well that's until Rain ran up and grappled onto her making her once stern and admirable face turn into a smiling tomato.

"Hey Tamar!"

"H-hey Rain, how was the w-walk here?"

Tamar's voice squeaky and hinting at nervousness, matching her red face perfectly. She couldn't hold the perfect image that she had planned in the end sadly.

"Um Tamar are you okay? You sound squeaky and sick and wait your beet red are you sick?"

Rain's eyes gazing into Tamar's showing off worry for her nervous friend, yet oblivious to why she felt this way.

"U-uh yeah I'm just slightly cold t-that's all"

With those words leaving her quivering lips Rain's eyes showed a bit of a sparkle hinting at a idea forming into her head. Then soon pale sparks formed around her hands soon turning in a light red scarf, and without pausing soon wrapped around Tamar's neck and pulled towards her with the ends.

"Does that feel better?"

Rain's voice showing off her mischievous side, with her already wide grin turning even wider by the second, and her voice strained as if trying to hide a chuckle forming.

"Y-yeah a w-whole lot better t-thanks."

'Too close, too close, too close!"

Tamar's mind was slowly melting with the heat around her, and her already flaming ember of desire growing to match the intense heat of a bonfire. She quickly held onto the scarf making sure it never leaves her, then unable to speak from being afraid of stuttering even more she gestured to the restaurant door.

As soon as they entered the restaurant though they were blasted by the smell of lavender, and when they looked around they saw a single table in the middle of the floor decorated by a scarlet tablecloth surrounded by flickering light from candles. As soon as Tamar saw this she was dumbstruck then soon realized the purpose of this set up.

'They thought I was on a date!'

Well they weren't totally wrong but it was only one of them that thought of it that way while the other was so clueless to what's going on she just thought it was to clear away from attention. Yet this wasn't bad to Tamar well actually she really liked it, it set the mood and it even had some privacy for the two woman as well.

Soon after settling into the table they chatted around for a bit, well more like Rain was just talking while Tamar was a hot nervous mess the whole time. Then sadly their food arrived shortening their time by a huge amount, as the food showed that their time was soon running out.

Which she wasn't wrong about that either, as they soon finished the food she panicked not knowing what to do for the first time in forever. Her face visually contorting into confusion and panic.

Rain noticing this soon spoke up in a worry tone.

"Um Tamar are you okay? You haven't looked alright this entire time."

Tamar looked up then realized what she just asked, her voice filled entirely with panic and shaky resolve to keep the secret until the right timing.

"U-uh yeah I'm perfectly okay d-don't worry about me!"

Rain's face showing concern but choosing to simply believe her friend having entire faith in her. Yet a bit of suspicion in her eyes said something a bit different.

"I mean if you say so, but you can tell me anything you know like I don't judge!"

Hearing those words made Tamar's resolve shake a bit, she almost blurted out the confession right at that moment. Yet she couldn't help but want to follow her plan as it just made it easier for her to say it, and gave her a end goal to work towards.

At that moment Rain got up and soon Tamar followed like a flowing shadow, except this shadow tripped and fell over Rain, her hand over Rain's head almost as if she's hitting on her. This final moment made her will of steel break, her mouth quivering soon words came flowing out of her.

"Rain.. I like you, and as I mean I like you I mean like the like like, you know the like as in I want to date you you know like yeah?"

Shock filled Tamar's face as she said those words, her stomach felt empty, her heart dropping to the floor, and yet she didn't expect the next words coming out of Rain's mouth.

"Oh I know, and don't worry I like you too Tamar I have for a while!"

Tamar's bonfire of desire soon turned into a forest fire and without a thought in the world leaned into her and soon that once small flame became complete.
