Asher didn't even need to think to decline the invitation, yet he didn't speak aloud immediately. Instead, he paused for a brief moment, as though genuinely contemplating the request rather than rejecting it outright.
The next moment, he shook his head as he replied calmly, "I would have to decline that request, Baron Whale, but thank you for the invitation," he said, giving another small shake of his head as he spoke.
"But you don't have anyone to talk to at the moment. Your friends are unconscious, so you might as well speak with us old men for a bit. The maids will inform you when they wake up, and then you can go to them," Baron Whale countered as he explained his reasoning in a composed tone.
