Chapter 40 - Naruto: I am Uchiha Fugaku [40]

"Clan Head, what are you saying?!"

Uchiha Sen face went pale as he desperately tried to defend himself.

"Spare me the lies," Fugaku said coldly. "I wouldn't say this without solid evidence."

Seeing Fugaku's certainty, Uchiha Sen realized any further denial was useless. He fell silent.

"So... it's finally come to this."

All this time, he had lived in fear of his identity as a spy being exposed. Many nights, he would jolt awake from nightmares. And now, that day had come.

"You may only have half Uchiha blood, but the clan has never treated you unfairly. And this... this is how you repay us?"

Fugaku stared at him with open disgust.

The Uchiha had always treated Uchiha Sen as one of their own. They had never denied him support or protection. When he was young, he was kept behind the front lines during the Second and Third Great Ninja Wars, sparing him the bloodiest battles. Without that, twelve-year-old Uchiha Sen might never have survived.

His rise to elite jonin wasn't just talent and hard work—it was also thanks to the clan's guidance and resources. Compared to the struggle faced by civilian shinobi, Uchiha Sen path had been smooth. And this was what they got in return a traitor feeding on the clan while serving outsiders.

"I know I've wronged the clan," Uchiha Sen said, shame clouding his expression. Fugaku's words dredged up memories his father's death, and his mother returning with him to the Uchiha compound afterward.

The clan was cold to outsiders, yes. But they looked after their own.

Without the clan's care, he wouldn't have survived the horrors of war.

"Save the act," Fugaku snapped. "If you truly felt guilt, you wouldn't have spent sixteen years lurking in the shadows, stabbing the clan in the back. Things would never have come to this."

Uchiha Sen lowered his head.

"I feel guilty... but I don't regret it." He looked up, eyes firm. "Konoha needs peace. Everything I've done, I did for that peace."

"The Uchiha clan can't bring peace to Konoha. Only the Third Hokage can. Only the Will of Fire can lead the village to true peace."

"The Will of Fire?"

Fugaku let out a cold, mocking laugh.

Another one, brainwashed by the Third Hokage. Hiruzen really was something—his words had a power that wormed into people's hearts. Even Fugaku had to admit that. Just a few speeches, and even enemies fell under his spell.

It had worked on Shisui. It had worked on Itachi. And now, it had worked on Uchiha Sen.

"The Third Hokage is nothing more than a two-faced politician. He doesn't embody the Will of Fire he's the one killing it. He'll never bring peace to this village."

"Don't you dare insult Lord Hokage!"

Uchiha Sen exploded in fury, eyes blazing as he stared down Fugaku.

"Insult? I'm just stating facts. Do you have any idea what your so-called Hokage has done behind the scenes all these years?"

Fugaku's tone was full of disdain.

"He manipulated public opinion to drive White Fang to suicide. He let Orochimaru escape, creating a threat that still looms over the village. He clings to power, refusing to choose a Fifth Hokage..."

"Enough!" Uchiha Sen shouted, completely enraged. "Demonic Illusion: Shackles of Binding!"

The three tomoe in Uchiha Sen Sharingan spun furiously as he unleashed the most powerful genjutsu he could muster.

Thud! Thud! Thud!

Massive, glowing stakes fell from the sky, driving into Fugaku's body, pinning him in place and flooding his senses with excruciating pain.

"You're using genjutsu... on me?"

Fugaku's lips curled into a scornful smile.

Against a non-Uchiha even a Kage-level opponent this technique might've worked. But against him, a wielder of the Mangekyō Sharingan?

Foolish.

Shing—

Fugaku's eyes transformed, the tomoe replaced by an intricate pattern of rings and black dots—his Mangekyō Sharingan.

A terrifying aura radiated from his gaze, and the metal stakes that bound him snapped apart one by one. In an instant, the illusion was broken, and Fugaku stood free once more.

But he didn't stop there.

He pulled Uchiha Sen into the illusion of his right eye a world of true genjutsu.

"Y-You've awakened the Mangekyō Sharingan?!"

Uchiha Sen gasped, staring in disbelief at the unfamiliar, evolved pattern in Fugaku's eyes.

He had spent sixteen years embedded in the clan. Of course he knew what the Mangekyō was a power far beyond ordinary Sharingan, said to rival even the First Hokage's Wood Release in might.

Since Madara's time, no one in the clan had awakened it.

And now, that power had appeared again within Fugaku, a man Uchiha Sen had always thought weak and unworthy of leadership.

"As an Uchiha, I'm sure you've longed to awaken the Mangekyō Sharingan yourself. Well, let me satisfy your curiosity."

Fugaku's voice was deathly cold.

"With these eyes I will execute you."

"Fire Style: Great Dragon Fire Technique!"

Sensing mortal danger, Uchiha Sen instincts screamed at him. Goosebumps rose on his skin as he quickly formed hand seals.

ROAR—

A colossal fire dragon surged forth, roaring as it lunged toward Fugaku.

"Fire Style: Great Dragon Fire Technique."

Fugaku hadn't moved. He hadn't even made a seal. He stood calmly, his gaze mocking—as if a cat toying with a cornered mouse.

Only when the dragon was upon him did he lift a finger.

A second dragon, identical in every way, erupted forward and collided with the first.

BOOM!

The two dragons exploded in midair, canceling each other out.

"Fire Style: Dragon Flame Song Technique!"

"Fire Style: Majestic Destroyer Flame!"

One after another, Uchiha Sen unleashed powerful jutsu each one blocked by Fugaku using the exact same technique, without hand seals.

"He's not even using seals..."

Uchiha Sen stared at Fugaku in horror, sweat pouring down his face.

This wasn't just fast hand seals Fugaku wasn't using any at all.

He didn't need them.

At this pace, if Fugaku truly wanted him dead,Uchiha Sen would already be ashes. The only reason he was still alive was because Fugaku chose to let him live for now.

Uchiha Sen had tried to run, but no matter where he fled, Fugaku appeared instantly before him.

It was hopeless.

He was like a mayfly trying to shake a mountain small, powerless, and already doomed.
