Chapter 4 - Late night dreams

He was fast asleep, his mind lost to nowhere, the darkness of his wound finally came. He fell asleep, only to wake a couple of hours later in his room, in his bed, with sunlight blowing from the window, an uncurtained window. While he was staring blankly at the alarm clock, which was ringing. Yeah, it was 8 AM in the morning, a Saturday morning.

He slowly left the bed, yawning, looking around like he was somewhere he didn't know. Later, he went to the kitchen, took a glass of water along with some pills, and swallowed them, seeing his final wake.

"Why do you never eat when you take your medication? You know, it might hurt your stomach," said his mother, who was already awake.

"I'm okay," Xing replied, a little bright. Later, he went to the fridge and took out some coffee from the freezer. He just made it on time; he put it into the kettle to boil. Later, he went to brush his teeth and looked out the window. Well, another shitty day.

Later, he went to his room to take a planner out of the bed. It was a pink planner with all the days of the week, but no year, no date. Nothing, just the days of the week. So he looked around and it's finally Saturday. He had some plans to go see a movie outside; the movie was at 3 PM.

Xing grabbed the coffee, which was boiling, put it in a mug along with some milk, then brushed his teeth again until he finally went to the living room. His mother was already there. She was watching some sitcoms, which were really funny, and she laughed.

"Xing, you made coffee. Can you pass me a mug?"

"Sure, Mama." He went to the kitchen and poured his mother a milkless coffee. Then he went to the living room.

"So, Mama, do you have plans for today?"

"Not really. Do you want to do anything with me?"

"Well, I'm going to see a movie at the cinema."

"Oh, that's fine. Have fun."

"It's 3 PM."

"3 PM. You've got a lot of time. Do you want to visit your auntie?"

"Yeah, why not?"

So, while his mother dialed the auntie's number, Xing dressed and then went to the bedroom again. He looked in the mirror. Well, what a day. He said to himself. Later, he went downstairs and out the front door.

"Ready?"

"Yes."

He descended the staircase along with his mother, walking a few meters away from the apartment. There was his aunt's apartment. His auntie was a pretty old lady, a bit older than his mother. She had a funny personality, along with the bad characters that seemed to be their family heritage.

So, they ascended and entered. "Finally, you came! Where is your Mama?"

"A few stories below. You know, she's..."

"I know. So, how about you? I've got so many things to tell you!"

And later she gave him a cup of coffee. Xing brought his own milk. He always does this because apparently the auntie never had milk or sugar, but after he started visiting her regularly, she acquired a sugar jar for him, along with his mug. Well, the conversation went well. Xing seemed to laugh a bit. She is so present while checking his social media for later stop waiting about his content.

"So, Xing, you know, I need something from the internet?"

"Sure, Auntie, what do you need?"

"You know, I saw in the commercial that some solar lighter."

"Some solar lighter? Sounds familiar." And later he just typed on his phone, "solar lighter." And the results started to come. It was a plastic thing. Not so expensive, but pretty useful in the kitchen. So, Xing ordered it to come to his house. His auntie paid him and agreed on the price. Later he dressed.

"Mama, I'm going to the cinema."

"Sure, have fun."

And he descended the stairs again.

He went to the cinema in the center of the town. There was no one there. So, the woman asked him, "Are you here for the European Film Festival?"

"Yes, should I purchase a ticket?"

"No, it's free, but, you know, we will decline. I mean, we can't run the movie without at least two people. Can you bring a friend?"

"I don't have friends."

"Oh, poor you. We hope that someone will come here. So, we won't be alone in the cinema, in the theater room."

"Yeah, sure."

So, he later put himself on the sofa, waiting for someone to call. While waiting, his mind raced again. It was Zoe.

"Zoe, you can't say bad luck!" And she was immediately taken to the Arlechino, Crimson.

Crimson asks, "So you came back?"

"Yes, I'm back with very bad news."

"Very bad news means actually, the island seems a world like our world. Apparently, the kids go somewhere between the worlds. It's like with a Tree of Worlds, but it's different. We say, on a scene, it's dark, pitch dark. And every part is different. Every world is different. While I've seen a world that seems so fair and everything works so smoothly, all of them are haunted by ghosts. This ghost apparently can bring the world to its end. What do you say? Apparently, the old magos can bring the dead to all the human beings, but this will cause us to get dark as to ghosts. Apparently, the world cannot be inhabited after human beings disappear. Why? I don't know, but I've seen a world ruled by ghosts. And it was all darkness, pitch darkness and pain and lots of demise, but we just made sure that we can't die. I believe we can, but I'm not sure about this."

"Zoe, what have you seen? It's nothing. I'm sorry, there is nothing."

"Zoe, no, no, it's nothing, but the idea is that we have to live with these filthy beings for all eternity. Otherwise, we will be punished for this. There are," and then she stopped. She stopped because Anton came back. He looked at her, he looked at Crimson.

"I interrupted something?"

"Not really."

"Good, good. So, we're done with Nar. What are we going to do now?"

"Actually, there is a miscalculation on our way. So, we need to recreate a plan."

"Sure, miscalculations like we can't kill humanity. That was always a miscalculation. Do you know about ghosts?" Zoe suddenly interrupted Crimson and Anton.

"The ghost, what ghost? You know, those ghosts that eat human souls?"

"Yes, I know. You are talking about Nastrophies."

"Oh, so that's the name? Yes, they eat human souls. They feed themselves on misery. So, yeah, initially our family hunted them. We were hunting them into the night. But later, they disappeared. I don't know why. They disappeared like, actually nobody knows where they go, but I believe they are always here. So, what are we going to do?"

"I don't know, but as long as they are not here, we are safe. When they will be, we have to fight them to seal them somewhere away. We can't actually kill them. That's a pretty bad cloud coming, a cloud coming our way. But everything will be okay, Zoe. Let's just think of..."
