Chapter 13 - Chapter 13: The Portal Key

Seems like luck already came to me before I even asked for it. I originally just want to get a single dimensional crystal or a fragment so that I could do the fusing hoping for my luck to do the job despite having a slim chance of succeed. It seems like a reckless plan, relying on possibilities but i had no choice but to try.

But if it's an artificer whom accustomed to this type of crafting. It might even succeed immediately.

"what kid, satisfied?" he smirked proudly of his work.

"this is amazing Mister Barrick, it improved a lot" I exclaimed. Feeling a surge of comfortability and confidence in these clothe.

"hahaha that's just me, now kid do you have enough magic crystals for the fusion process?" he asked.

"yes, wait I'll take it out" I pulled out something inside the pouch and took out magic crystals that just enough to fill the requirement. Just 3.

Mister Barrick then took out the dungeon core fragment from the crate and spoke as I put down the crystals on the counter.

"look here kid, this is how you do (fusing) stuffs. You need to be precise with your hands and let mana from the crystal flow smoothly into the process" I of course know how fusion works but I never seen such precise controls, never letting the mana inside leaked out. The mana as I perceived formed a circular formation with the key at it's center. Mister Barrick carefully placed the core fragment inside the keys, it's reformed into an obsidian cube colored form.

"here you go kid " he said handing out the finished product.

"now that everything is settled, need anything else kid?" Mr Barrick asked.

"no, well then I should take my leave thank you for everything" I bowed showing my gratitude as I hold the dark spire cube, the portal key that opens up randomly coordinated portal gate.

"alright I won't keep you, make sure to be back if you needed anything kid" he replied laughing boisterously.

"yes" I replied back as I wave my hand and reached out to the door, I don't know why he's so nice to a stranger like me whom he just me first time. But I'm sure he helped me out a lot today.

[portal key — 3 stars - a mystical key that bends space and time needed to opened the cracks on the distinguishable space rift resulting in forming a portal gate with unclear destination. Can repair a broken portal if less than a day of cut off connection. Manage usage is needed for activation. Can detect nearby cracks of space]

This is also the reason why portal key is a natural detection for space cracks, space cracks can be naturally formed, usually connected from outer worlds or man made which used for distance travel.

Portals are very common in blumelia, this world never really had a stable space to begin with. What's make this place dangerous is, there is often cases where dangerous places appears suddenly, like a forest got replaced suddenly by a desert crawled by dangerous desert monsters. Despite that the unusually unstable space of blumelia, it never ceased to function properly making the continent stable. But I guess such landscape transformation are quite rare.

After saying my goodbye to the robust shop owner, I swiftly headed out home. Not trying to attract attention i decided to take out and wear a cloak that grants invisibility and erase presence as I rushed home trying to remember the route I took.

I finally arrived at the pharmacy. It's locked good thing both Chloe and I had an identical key to the shop.

As I unlocked the door and entered the place as expected Chloe is sleeping in the living room coach, is this her usual habit when she sleep? She didn't even notice me entering despite the creaking noise of the door.

I knew it! That dream catcher's making her lower her guard and fall into deep sleep. I should probably remodeled this place with this enough money, master just removed our rooms and there's only one couch in this living room. I guess i can sleep in the cold floor, no I'll just focus on my goal.

That little mad pup seems having a nightmare, sleeping below the table. He seems unsettled in his sleep.

I heard a crack in my pocket. It happening more often, one by one. Some life trace amulet I gave to my Master's favorite familiar cracks. It just means they're dying off one by one. Summons can be resummon even if it perished but familiars don't, when they die, they will absolutely die.

I know i have to hurry up. Time is tight.

[artifact detected.. Bling... Artifact detected]

Damn it my eyes is highlighting some items here, this system is really annoying. The system says it when it detected interesting items outside, it also the one that lead me to mister Barrick store. I just ignore some which are not important to my goal.

I didn't bother waking her up since my time is almost up, the sun is about to rise and my chance to reopen the portal back to Master's dungeon is about to expire.

I rushes through the hallway exiting the living room and down into the basement.

[closed portal detected.. Space crack confirmed]

There, I hurriedly took out the portal key handcrafted by mister Barrick. The key was physically perceivable as just peculiar obsidian cube except it exude with unknown power.

I'm not much good in calculating large numbers. So I asked the system for help.

"system is it possible for you to accurately calculate the connection within this closed portal? "

[affirmative. Connection line detected approximately 3156 base mile, status inactive/broken]

"i guess that should be the distance between here and samion city dungeon"

[correct, distance activation requires tremendous energy please think this through. Power requirement is beyond the host's capabilities, further more will have severe effect on your body]

"no, i do what I must do, even if i must risked it" I spoke with a firm fist containing the cube shape key, while my brows furrows.

[host's bravery is commendable. The system will assist you in any possible way it can]

"you mean recklessness? Anyway thanks"
