Suddenly, Maria and Merisa who had been standing close, speaking in low voices with expressions weighed down by thoughts far heavier than words.. froze at the same instant. It wasn't because either of them sensed danger, nor because some overwhelming pressure descended upon the surroundings. It was something far simpler, and yet far more decisive.
It was because the shadow dome in front of them stirred.
The dense, suffocating mass of Shadows that had remained unmoving for over a month suddenly rippled, its surface shuddering as if disturbed from within. The shadows unraveled, peeling away like smoke caught in a strong wind, dissipating layer by layer before finally vanishing completely.. leaving behind nothing but open air and the small stretch of water beneath.
And from where that dome had stood…
