Return of the Dragon Warriors

Volume 1 Chapter 9: Cavalcade of Company

"So… do you two have any pets?" Ruby asked curiously, which caused Weiss to bristle.

"No… not… exactly…" Weiss nervously answered, looking away.

'I resent that statement. I'm not a pet.' Silfrdrengr's voice growled harshly into Weiss and Whitley's minds.

'And people say I'm conceited.' Weiss replies telepathically.

'Can someone just give her an answer already? This is getting awkward.' Whitley shot into the two's minds.

"W-what I mean to say is we used to have a Pomeranian. Then it died." Weiss explained nervously.

Whitley looked at his sister with a look that said '... Really? That's the best you could come up with?'

Ruby, on the other hand, had a teary-eyed look as Yang and Azura gave her looks of sympathy. "I'm so sorry to hear that!! Pomeranians are so cute and cuddly! It must've hurt so much!!!" Ruby cried before rushing forward and pulling Weiss into a sympathetic hug.

Whitley looked at them in disbelief. "I can't believe that actually worked…" He muttered.

As Weiss nervously turned stiff as a board into the hug, her eyes gravitated towards a window. As she looked into the sky beyond, she noticed something through the clouds. Poking from a set of vast, white, fluffy clouds was a long, ribbed fin scything through them. She even glimpsed a wing chopping through them. Her eyes widened in horror as she realized what she was seeing.

'Silf… Are you flying near the airship?' Weiss asked into her mind.

'... Nooooooo…' Silfrdrengr mentally replied to her.

'Oh. Okay. I thought Mother told you not to lie. Anyway…' Weiss feigned ignorance, which caused a bit of panic come through her from Silf.

'Okay, okay, yes! I am! But, as your bonded dragon, it's my duty to stand by and protect my Dragon Warrior!' Silfrdrengr replied in a panic.

'You are the size of a semi-truck!! How are you supposed to keep hidden!?' Weiss yelled at him telepathically.

'I could turn into something bigger than a Pomeranian. We could say that I was sent to you by your mother.' The dragon offered, trying to help.

'Problem with that Silf. Weiss already told people you were dead.' Whitley chipped in mentally.

'... Wow. Really? That was the best you could come up with?' Silfrdrengr asked his Dragon Warrior in exasperation.

'I panicked, okay?!?!?!' Weiss snapped back at him mentally.

'No excuses. Weiss. You are a Dragon Warrior. You need to do better under pressure.' Whitley told his sister mentally.

'Whitley is right, Weiss. You need to do better.' Silfrdrengr agreed with a mental nod.

'Both of you, shut up and do as I say. Silfrdrengr, get into thicker cloud cover and find some place to hide on Beacon grounds. Whitley, distract this red dolt for me with your new Zodiac charms.' Weiss mentally ordered.

'Yes, Weiss.' The two replied mentally.

Soon the dragon drifted from view, allowing Weiss to sigh. However, the visible signs of distress she had shown swiftly were taken differently by the present company.

"Oh, you poor thing! You're so traumatized thinking about the death of a beloved family pet!!" Ruby wailed as she hugged Weiss tighter to the point where Weiss almost squeaked like a dog toy.

"Miss Rose. If you wish, I have pictures of our fallen canine if you want to see." Whitley offered to the red cloaked girl.

Immediately, Ruby released Weiss and zipped over to Whitley in a flurry of rose petals. "Yes please!" She replied with stars in her eyes.

Yang turned to her blue clad companion. "You're a guy. Aren't you?" She asked him.

Azura rolled his eyes. "Thank you for recognizing that I have a penis, Yang." He sarcastically replied.

"Alright, smartass. Is that flirting?" Yang replied, before rolling her eyes.

"I don't believe it is. Especially since young Sir Schnee knows that Ruby is taken." Azura replied.

"You're damn right she is!!!" Sylver replied from the back of the airship.

"Just making sure…" Yang muttered.

As Whitely showed Ruby pictures of their "pet dog," Weiss used the opportunity to stretch her legs. All around her there were various other prospects chatting, resting, looking over their weapons, or on their scrolls. She stopped to let out a deep sigh, releasing tension. Then she felt her feet get warm and wet. She looked down to see a large puddle of vomit on the floor with a tall, blonde, and lanky armored boy sitting near her, his mouth corners covered in vomit as well.

"Mah bad…" The boy groaned.

"Ew, ew, ew, ew, ew!!" Weiss cried out as she ran for the bathroom of the airship.

This caught Whitley and company off guard as Weiss rushed past them. Looking back at Weiss, before looking forward and seeing the boy who vomited. Closing his scroll, he stood up and marched towards the boy to confront him. However, Whitley wasn't paying the most attention to where he was going in the process. He stepped forward with his right foot too far, and directly into the vomit. Losing traction, Whitley slipped and flipped, falling flat on his back.

Everyone started trying not to laugh at that. Everyone except Ruby who couldn't help but let out a giggle and Yang who just burst out laughing. Sylver simply pinched the bridge of his nose and sighed without opening his eyes.

Azura looked at his friend. "You said you trained him, right?" He asked, raising an eyebrow.

"Never said he was good at it…" Sylver sighed before getting ready to go back to sleep.

However, as he did, he heard a strange noise. The flapping of wings. And it seemed to be coming from… outside the airship? Raising an eyebrow, he opened one eye to look in the direction of the sound.

"What in all the hells is that noise…?" He muttered before shrugging and closing his eye again. "Meh, I'm probably just imagining it…"

As Whitley groaned and tried to sit up, his vision slowly came back to him. He soon saw a tall woman rushing over to him. Long red hair flowed behind her in a ponytail as she ran towards him. Soon he was met with a statuesque face and bold green eyes looking down at him. As she checked him over, he clearly saw the bronze breastplate and red skirt she wore, alongside a large bronze shield and a spear on her back.

"Are… are you an angel?" Whitley asked in pain.

Pyrrha blushed slightly but giggled a bit. "No, I'm not. You just fell and hit your head." She replied before offering her hand to help him up.

Whitley soon took it as she then sat him down to the boy who caused the vomit in the first place. As she looked them over, a round, flat, moving disc about the size of a dinner plate moved down the hall behind her. It then stopped in front of the vomit and sprayed the puddles with foam, before then beginning to drive over it.

"Oh, good. The Zooma is here. It'll clean that mess right up." The girl replied before looking the two over. "Are you boys okay?"

"I'm fine… just a bit sore." Whitley groaned, rubbing his head.

"I'll… be okay… just… motion sick…" The blonde boy groaned.

Further back, Weiss grumbled as she came out of the bathroom. Yet as she rejoined the group, she stopped dead in her tracks. Her eyes fixed on the red-haired woman checking up on her brother.

Weiss's eyes widened in shock. "Is that…?" She asked before heading over.

She soon walked over, just as the Zooma finished cleaning up the mess. Whitley turned to face his sister before trying to get up. The red-haired girl soon stopped his attempt.

"Just stay seated and get your bearings please." She said sternly.

Whitley nodded and just laid back to relax.

"Um… excuse me." Weiss said, drawing the redhead's attention.

The girl then turned to look at Weiss with a smile on her face. "Yes?" She asked politely.

"Thank you for helping my brother. Are you… are you Pyrrha Nikos?" Weiss nervously asked.

The redheaded girl stiffened a bit but forced herself to keep her smile on her face. "Yes. Yes, I am…" She replied stiffly.

"Who?" The blonde boy asked.

Whitley turned to look at him in annoyance. "Really? You don't know who she is? You're not helping the 'dumb blonde' stereotype…" He snipped a bit, clearly still irritated at the blonde boy.

"Listen pipsqueak, not everyone has time to look up every person who knows how to fight. Some of us have to do real work." The blonde boy shot back.

Whitley glared at him as Weiss spoke up. "She's the pride and joy of the city of Argus! She graduated from the top of her class from Sanctum Academy! She's won the Mistral regional fighting tournament for four years running! Her level of combat skill is so great that she's regarded as being on par with Zodiac heirs! How do you not know who she is!?" She shot in disbelief.

The boy turned to look at Pyrrha, getting increasingly nervous at hearing this, as he then stood up. This caught Weiss off guard as the blonde towered over her. "And it's clear to me she doesn't see herself that way. All you're doing is making her nervous and uncomfortable." He sternly replied.

Pyrrha smiled at that, clearly pleased and relieved by the boy coming to her defense. "Thank you. And you are?" She asked politely.

Both Weiss and Whitley were caught off guard by Pyrrha's response as the boy spoke. "Jaune Arc. Short, sweet, ladies love it." He simply replied.

Weiss simply gave him a deadpan look. "... Do they really?" She asked him.

Jaune shrugged in response. "Back home, they do." He replied.

Weiss was about to say more, but she soon heard Silfrdrengr speak into her mind. 'I like this kid.' He telepathically said.

'You would…' Weiss telepathically replied in annoyance.

"Arc… Arc… Master!?" Whitley said before calling back to Sylver.

"What…?" Sylver asked in annoyance, opening one eye.

"Does the surname Arc mean anything to you!?" Whitley yelled back

"Arc… Are you related to Caesar Arc? The famous war hero from the Great War?" Azura asked, raising an eye.

An audible groan soon came from Jaune as he answered. "Yes. That's my Great-Great Grandfather…" He answered with a shocking level of annoyance in his voice.

"... Your great-great grandfather was Caesar Arc? The commander of the Mistrali First Cohort from the Great War? The man who forged a temporary alliance between the Valean and Mistrali First Cohorts to lead them to victory against a horde of Thunderjaws in the Battle of Thunder Valley!?" Weiss asked in sheer disbelief.

Jaune rolled his eyes at all this sudden attention. "Yeah… that same Arc." He groaned.

Azura then looked down at Jaune's waist and his eyes widened. "Isn't that Crocea Mors, Caesar Arc's signature weapon from the Great War?" He asked in recognition.

"... Yes. It's a family heirloom. And as the only male Arc of this generation, it got passed to me." Jaune answered with resignation.

Azura looked at the blonde boy in sympathy. "I know what it's like to labor under an ancestor's legacy…" He told Jaune.

"Please don't start this again, Azura. We don't need you going into a depressed spiral." Yang sighed.

"But my ancestors Azure and Shōri…" Azura tried to speak up, only to get cut off by Ruby and Yang.

"And don't we know it…" Ruby and Yang groaned in unison.

"Azure and Shōri… Like Sōtora Azure and Sōtora Shōri?" Jaune asked in surprise and sympathy.

"Thank you!!" Azura replied in exasperated appreciation.

Both Jaune and Whitley's eyes widened at this as they rushed over to the young samurai. Soon, the two swiftly began to badger him with questions. Despite Azura's pleas to Ruby and Yang, they left him to fend for himself. However, Weiss was swiftly startled when a feminine voice spoke up behind her.

"The boys around here are quite eccentric." A laid-back feminine voice said.

"Gaaah! How long have you been there!?" Weiss asked in disbelief as she turned to look at the girl.

She soon saw a fair skinned girl in a black sleeveless vest with coat tails and a white sleeveless undershirt. As she crossed her legs, Weiss noticed her white pants and black leggings with low heel boots. Yet most curiously of all was an exceptionally large bow on top of her head, right in the center of the top oddly enough, and yellow eyes.

"I've been here the whole time. I was hoping for some peace and quiet so I could catch up on some reading." The girl answered dryly.

Weiss frowned and sighed. "My apologies. And you are?" She replied politely.

"... Blair. Blair Nightshade." The now identified Blair replied.

"Blair Nightshade… that doesn't sound like a real name to me." Weiss replied, trying to be polite.

Blair simply raised an eyebrow. "Do you have a problem with my name?" She asked in response, sounding ever so slightly defensive.

"No, no. I was simply noting that it's an odd name." Weiss replied nervously.

'And I thought I was insensitive.' Silfrdrengr said telepathically.

'Quiet, Silf…' Weiss telepathically replied in annoyance.

"So, what brings two Schnee's this far south?" Blair asked after looking Weiss over.

"Just flying south for the winter." Whitley replied from a bit away.

"Whitley!" Weiss replied, glaring at her brother.

"That's my boy!!" Sylver called out.

Weiss sighed in frustration. "We're merely trying to assert our independence now that we have the chance to." She simply replied.

"And Mother wouldn't let me apply early unless I went to the same Academy as her." Whitley commented.

This got a surprisingly sympathetic look out of Blair. "That's an admirable goal. I'm also… asserting my independence as well." She explained.

"Well, we already know why Ruby is getting in early. She stopped the infamous Roman Torchwick during a Dust shop robbery and forced him to flee. But why did he get in early?" Yang added, pointing to Whitley.

"I applied early and passed the acceptance test." Whitley replied simply.

This caught Yang especially off guard and turned to look at Ruby. "Why didn't you do that?" She asked her younger sister.

"I didn't know that was a thing! Why didn't you suggest it!?" Ruby replied in disbelief.

"I wonder why Dad didn't tell us about that?" Yang asked herself.

"Knowing Taiyang, he probably didn't want either of you applying until he felt you were ready." Azura replied with a shrug.

"Why didn't either of you two tell us?" Ruby asked Azura and Sylver.

"You never asked…" The two Zodiacs replied before Sylver closed his eyes again to go back to sleep.

"Attention passengers. Please remain seated as we approach the Beacon Airship Halt." A voice said over the intercom.

Sylver simply groaned upon hearing that. "Oh, you have gotta be kidding me…" He sighed in frustration.

Later That Night: Beacon Ballroom

After a long day of speeches from faculty, tours of Beacon, the airship eight finally arrived where they would be sleeping that night. Across a grand ballroom had many sleeping bags and pillows laid out for the new initiates. Weiss did her best to try and settle in early for sleep. However, those hopes were dashed when Ruby rushed over to her.

"Hi, Weiss!" Ruby enthusiastically said, a big smile on her face.

Weiss raised her eyebrow at that. "Hello…" She nervously answered, not entirely sure how to take this sudden intrusion.

"Just wanted to check on you to see how you're doing. And to see if you wanted to maybe hang out a little before bed." Ruby told her with an innocent smile.

"Hang out?" Weiss asked.

"Yeah, spend time together. Have you never had friends before?" Ruby asked, raising a concerned eyebrow.

"Is that the same thing as a servant?" Weiss asked.

"No. A friend is someone you can talk to about anything. Someone you can rely on to be there for you, even if they aren't being paid for it. Someone who cares about you from the bottom of their heart with no thought of their own gain." Ruby explained, surprised.

"That sounds like our butler Klein. Well, when he isn't changing through his 'Quirks' as he puts it." Weiss answered.

Ruby smiled. "Well, if you've never had a friend before, you have one now." She told her, taking a seat next to her.

"Is that how that works?" Weiss asked.

'I don't think she's giving you a choice.' Silfrdrengr replied telepathically.

"It's like Jaune and Yang said. Strangers are just friends you haven't met yet." Ruby told Weiss with a smile.

"That also describes stalkers." Weiss replied.

Ruby let out a little giggle. "I guess it kinda does, but only if you call the police." She told her while trying to calm her giggle fit.

This got a small smile out of Weiss. "I guess so…" Weiss giggled.

This peace, however, didn't last as Silfrdrengr's voice soon reared its ugly octaves. 'Hey, Weiss. I think I got a disguise down.' He said proudly. 'Look out the window.'

Weiss sighed mentally and walked towards the nearest window. What she saw, however, was anything but what she expected. Out on the outer lawn was a black and white cow. She was about to say something about that until she looked closer. Despite the distance, being close to the tree line, she could still easily see it. It was then that she realized exactly what his planned disguise was.

'Pretty good, huh?' Silfrdrengr asked.

'Why did you pick a cow!? Why are you the size of a barn!? What possessed you to think that disguising yourself in cow drag was going to be a good idea!?!?' Weiss yelled telepathically

'Cow drag? I'm not a boy cow?' Silf asked in confusion.

Silfrdrengr then looked down, only to see a large set of udders dangling from his bovine underside. He then looked up at Weiss.

'Hang on, I'll fix that.' Silfrdrengr said.

"Hey, Weiss! What … is that cow?" Ruby asked as she walked over. "And why is it the size of a barn?"

"It's far away." Weiss replied nervously

"I'm pretty sure I see the tree branches up against it." Ruby replied skeptically.

Before Weiss could counter, the cow began to shimmer in prismatic light. Soon it grew even larger, now sporting a greyish brown coat, and two large horns on its head. As it finished changing, Weiss looked over at Ruby, who was standing there stunned at what she just witnessed.

"Uhhhhh… did that cow just turn into a bull…?" Ruby asked in disbelief, rubbing her eyes to make sure she wasn't seeing things.

"No, it didn't. You must be tired." Weiss replied.

"... I… think I'm gonna head back over to Yang and get some sleep. Good night, Weiss…" Ruby nervously replied, looking like she was wondering if she was losing her mind.

"Mind if I join you?" Weiss asked nervously.

"Um… okay… let me help you get your sleeping bag…" Ruby replied, looking away from the bull to go walk back over to where Weiss had settled herself.

"Thank you. I'll be right over." Weiss replied.

'What? Is it my breath?' Silfrdrengr asked telepathically.

'Get back in the forest!' Weiss telepathically snapped in exasperation.

'Sheesh. Tough crowd.' The dragon grumbled, before wandering back off into the forest.

After shaking her head in disappointment, Weiss followed behind the now severely shaken Ruby. After collecting Weiss's sleeping bag and things, Ruby led her over to where Yang was. To their surprise, they also found Azura and an unfamiliar boy talking with her. The boy was tall, taller than even Azura, and significantly broader. He wore a simple sleeveless tank top and black pajama pants that covered work worn brown skin. Across his arms were massive and perfectly circular scars. As the two approached, Yang noticed them and waved to them.

"Hey, you two! Ruby? Is everything okay?" Yang asked after taking one good look at her sister.

"I… think I need to get some sleep. Who's your new friend?" Ruby asked, trying to gather herself.

Before Yang could speak, the massive boy spoke up. "Names Zhan Vulkan. Nice to meet you, Ruby. Yang had a lot to say about you." He replied in a deep, yet kind sounding voice.

Ruby looked at Yang at that. "Oh really? And just what did she have to say?" She asked, visibly annoyed with her big sister.

"Oh, nothing much. Aside from my baby sister being a big damn hero." Yang said with a smile.

Ruby groaned. "Yang, I told you I didn't wanna be the bee's knees! I don't wanna be any kind of knees! I just wanna be a normal girl with normal knees!" She replied in exasperation.

"That ship has sailed already, Ruby." Azura chipped in.

"Not helping, Azu!" Ruby snapped in frustration.

Zhan then turned to look at Weiss. "And what's your name?" He asked.

"Weiss Schnee. Pleased to make your acquaintance." Weiss replied with a nod of acknowledgement.

"Likewise. I didn't think you got the attention of this many girls, Azura. No wonder why you were downplaying that when we bumped into each other." Zhan chuckled.

Azura blushed at that. "Your silence would be greatly appreciated, Zhan." He simply told the taller boy, not noticing the possessive look he was getting from Yang before she glared at Zhan.

"I wouldn't say that. I just met him today." Weiss said, crossing her arms.

"And I already have a boyfriend." Ruby replied.

"Got that right…!!!" Sylver's voice called out from across the ballroom.

"What's your reason, Blondie?" Zhan asked.

"That's for me to know and you to find out." Yang simply replied as Azura blushed.

"Yang…!" Azura said in exasperation.

"You think that's bad? These two somehow 'accidentally' went on two dates." Ruby giggled cheekily.

Zhan looked at the now blushing duo as he raised an eyebrow. "How do you 'accidentally' go on two dates?" He asked in disbelief.

"If I knew, I wouldn't have done it twice!!" Azura snapped defensively.

"I'm not complaining…" Yang muttered with a small smile.

"Whose side are you on!?" Azura yelled at her.

"My side. Because nobody's on mine." Yang replied cheekily.

"Well, I hate to break up such riveting conversation, but we really should go to bed." Weiss said to interject.

"Please do! Some people are trying to read before bed!" Blair's voice called out from nearby.

"Besides, I hear they changed how we drop into initiation. Apparently, it's now by airship." Weiss explained.

"They're not catapulting us?" Azura asked in confusion.

"Apparently they catapulted someone directly into a Charybdis's mouth last year, and the regulating committees threw a fit over it, citing it was an unfair evaluation and death to the applicant." Weiss explained, crossing her arms.

"Okay, that makes sense. Wait, what…?" Zhan replied before catching himself.

"Honestly, it sounds like a personal issue. How could he not have dodged that?" Weiss mused.

"Sounds to me like someone got in with fake transcripts and never actually got any combat training. What kind of reckless moron would do something like that?" Azura replied with disbelief only for a sneeze to be heard in the background from Jaune.

"Have you seen a Hunter's paycheck before?" Yang asked, raising a skeptical eyebrow.

"I have. I make more than that in a day." Azura replied with a shrug.

"Azu. Not everyone is a noble and has tenants that rent land." Ruby reminded him.

"... Fair enough. But at least they don't have to deal with the paperwork." Azura replied.

"Wait, what?" Zhan asked.

"If you survive initiation, I'll explain it later." Azura simply answered, waving it off.

With a sigh from Zhan, everyone went over to their sleeping bags and got ready for bed. As

Next Morning: Inside the Airship

"Okay… I'm now afraid of heights!" Jaune shrieked, clinging to a handrail inside the enlarged bullhead airship.

"It'll be okay Jaune. Just don't land on your neck." Pyrrha said to try and calm him down.

"Great advice, Pyrrha!" Jaune yelled in a panic.

Soon everyone heard a crackle of static and turned towards the cockpit. On a large screen soon projected a standing figure in a dapper suit, a green scarf, small bottle glasses, and an antique cane. Scruffy white hair and emerald-green eyes greeted them as he spoke.

"Greetings Initiates. I am, as your reminder, Headmaster Ozpin. Due to… last year's events… we will now be dropping you out of the back of this bullhead by our resident athletics instructor Professor Ironside." The Headmaster explained.

"Question!" One Initiate yelled, raising his hand.

"Yes sir?" Ozpin asked.

"Why are we being thrown out of the airship?" The Initiate asked.

"To make it fair and test your reflexes." Ozpin simply replied.

"Alright, maggots! Listen up!" A booming voice called out from the cockpit.

"Ah. Right on cue. How's the ride so far, Paul?" Ozpin asked as they heard metal groaning under a heavy weight coming from the cockpit.

Descending the small stairway sideways, came a mountain of a man. Wearing a maroon suit and pants with the academy's insignia, the clothing looked as if he moved too hard, it would be torn to pieces. His hands were the size of mallet heads, his arms as thick as some of the initiates torsos, a large set of ox horns sat atop his aged head, and he had a long white beard with a stoic, weather-beaten face. Across his back were two broad headed axes with Dust mechanisms just beneath the heavy blades attached to well-worn wooden handles. Crisp blue eyes scanned the room as he had to hunch down a bit to actually fit in the airship's bay.

"Drinks were good, sir. Bit cramped on the leg room, though." He replied in a low, booming voice. Even without attempting to be loud, he still could easily be heard over the roaring engines.

"Fair enough. Though not everyone has your sheer side, Paul. Would you mind explaining things to our applicants before we begin?" Ozpin asked with a light smile.

The Professor smiled from ear to ear upon hearing that. "Of course, sir. And might I say, I love the new system." He answered.

With a snap of Paul's fingers, a holographic display of a massive forest appeared in front of the students. He then took a few steps forward before beginning the explanation.

"Here we have an accurate, if to scale, representation of the Emerald forest. We are the small red dot here." He said, point to the dot on the hologram.

"Why is it so small?" Another Initiate asked.

"Question time over." He simply boomed.

"Shutting up." The initiate said sheepishly.

"Now then. Once I'm finished throwing you newbies out the back, watch your knees when you land, the first person you make eye contact with will be your partner for the rest of your stay here. Then, you and your partner will make your way north to the ruins. There you will pick a single relic per pair, and that will be used to match your pairs into teams. Any questions now?" He boomed, before looking around the room.

Azura raised an eyebrow. "Professor Ironside, will any of the instructors be intervening in initiation if anything goes wrong?" He asked the towering, ox-horned Faunus.

To everyone's shock, Professor Ironside began to chuckle. "Oh, dear boy. We haven't needed to do that in a decade. But yes, if somehow, it's warranted. We have a perimeter of upperclassmen volunteers to keep those kinds of Grimm out. We only let in the more… manageable kinds. Though, if you get injured or die 'cause of those ones? Tough luck." He explained as the display then showed an orange line around the Emerald Forest to show the perimeter.

Azura gave a small, slightly nervous smile. "Fair enough, sir. I had to check." He replied with visible relaxation.

"Once you've retrieved a relic, you will then follow the path from the ruins to the rendezvous point. With that said and done… Jenkins!! Open the door!" Paul roared.

"MAAAARK JENKIIIINS!" Jenkins called out as he pressed the button to open the bay door.

"Don't worry, kids. He's a professional who comes cheap." Paul said as the display dissipated.

Soon red lights turned on as the bay opened behind them. Everyone was soon hit by a blast of crisp air, before soon seeing the verdant ground below them. Paul then walked to the edge of the bay and grabbed the two closest initiates. One of which happened to be Jaune.

"Professor Ironside, can we talk about this?" Jaune asked nervously.

The Professor slowly turned his head to look at him. "No." He blankly stated before chucking the two out the back with shocking force. So fast Jaune didn't even get a chance to scream.

Azura smiled at Yang. "I'll see you in the forest, my dear blonde Delilah." He told her.

Yang smirks in kind. "Making this another accidental date?" She asked cheekily.

Azura blushed red. "N-No. That wasn't my intention. But I packed these for you and Ruby." He replied nervously before pulling two wrapped bento lunches, one wrapped with a red cloth and one wrapped with a yellow one, out of his backpack and handing them to the half-sisters.

However, as soon as the gifts were received, both Yang and Azura were grabbed by the giant Professor and chucked out the back with tremendous force. Weiss gulped as she waited for her turn.

'Worst comes to worst, I can catch you.' Silfrdrengr's voice said into her mind.

'You're not revealing yourself this early!' Weiss mentally snapped.

'Wait… does this mean I get to reveal myself?' The dragon asked.

'Not any time soon!' Weiss snapped as the line kept moving.

However, before the conversation could continue, she felt a giant hand grip her. Weiss tensed as, before she knew it, she was sent flying out the back of the airship, rocketing towards the ground.

"THIS CAN'T BE SAAAAAFE!!!" Weiss screamed out as she plummeted.

Meanwhile: At the Perimeter

At the edge of the Emerald Forest, due to its various topography and irregular dimensions, the line for the Perimeter was stretched thin. The only solace the volunteers had was the fact that the land remained wide open, covered in lush rolling plains and rippling hills. At one of the eastern bulges, the perimeter was especially stretched thin. Not that a pair of male huntsmen cared as they guarded the bulge as they carried on a conversation.

"Bic, that is disgusting. How the hell did you get a girl to do that?" One of them asked.

"Oh, you know, Zippo. I have my ways." The other replied with a satisfied smirk.

"You think a Grimm's gonna show up? I haven't seen one all day?" Bic asked curiously, looking out into the endless plains.

"Oh relax, Bic. We're third year students. I'm sure that, if any do show up, they won't be anything we can't handle." Zippo replied, waving it off.

Had the two boys been paying attention, or kept their voices down, they may have noticed the underbrush and branches behind them began to shift. Despite the darkness of the dense canopy behind them, there was enough light to see something moving. Shifting and snaking through the forest behind them. Zippo, as he looked at his watch, felt a large droplet land on his shoulder.

"Fuck me, is it going to rain?" Zippo asked as he reached to wipe off the wet spot.

"I checked my scroll half an hour ago. Gonna be sunny all day." Bic replied.

Zippo soon wiped off the wet spot, only for it to stick to his fingers in a long thread. The two instantly realized that it wasn't water and looked up. To their shock and horror, all they saw was a cavernous maw and colossal teeth staring back at them.

"AAAAAAAAHHHHH!!!!" They screamed.

Before they could even move, the jaws clamped shut around both of them in an instant. Their aura broke like glass, blood vessels burst, and bone splintered into paste. As a massive head lifted what was left of their bodies and swallowed them, before disappearing into the forest. For the Emerald Forest was now not a testing ground. It was now a kill zone.
