Chapter 79 — The Legendary Marshmallows
Dante prepared a campfire and sat down beside Bella. Then, he picked up a marshmallow and tossed it toward her.
"Look at this! I actually brought these along! After all, we can't go camping without the legendary marshmallows!"
Seeing this, Bella smiled and replied,
"But we didn't come here to go camping. We came here to train, didn't we? And who brings marshmallows to eat around a campfire on an island full of deadly dinosaurs?"
Dante smiled nonchalantly.
"I don't see anything wrong with it. After all, our safety is guaranteed by the fact that we're not ordinary people. We can enjoy a nice experience like this, camping on an island full of dinosaurs."
He paused briefly before continuing.
"But speaking of experiences, it's true that your birthday is coming up soon. I was going to ask you what you wanted as a birthday present. After all, would you like a trip to Hawaii, Paris, Rome, or something along those lines?"
Bella remained silent for a while, reflecting on his question.
"I don't know... So much has happened, after all. I discovered that vampires exist, that gods exist, that my brother is incredibly strong, and that I've become a half-dragon. Right now, I'm trying to understand everything that's happening. So, I really can't think of anything I want to do at the moment."
Dante smiled gently, reached out, and caressed her cheek.
"You don't need to worry about that. If you don't want to do anything grand right now, that's fine. You have all the time in the world to adjust to everything. I'm here to help you if you need me."
Bella smiled and gently pressed his hand against her face.
"Yes, I know. Thank you for everything. After all, you literally gave me your heart. I don't know how to thank you. I don't even think there's a way to repay something like that."
Dante answered calmly.
"You don't need to thank me. I gave you my heart because I wanted to, and because I didn't want to see you die. You don't need to think you have to do something grand just because you believe the little things you already do aren't enough. Things like giving me affection and attention. That's already enough. I don't need anything more than that, understand?"
Seeing the serious expression on his face, Bella replied,
"Yes, I understand."
At that moment, their conversation was interrupted by a woman's scream echoing across the island.
ERIK! WHERE ARE YOU?!"
Bella stood up, looking concerned.
"Did you hear that? It sounds like someone is calling for somebody. But didn't you say there was no one on this island and that it was full of dinosaurs? How can there be someone screaming here?"
Dante let out a tired sigh.
"Because humans always do stupid things to experience excitement and adrenaline. I bet someone was traveling by boat, thought it would be a great idea to get off on this island and explore it. Now, they've probably lost one of the people who came with them and entered the island to look for them."
Hearing that, Bella sighed as well.
"So that's what happened... They have no idea how dangerous this island is. But, Dante, what are we going to do? Are we going to leave them alone and not help them? If we do nothing, they could die here. After all, they're just ordinary people."
Dante placed his hand on his chin and began to think
If my memory serves me right, the people on this island in the original story were a group of parents who had lost their child and pretended to be rich so they could hire Dr. Alan Grant.
Honestly, I came here to train with Bella. And, based on the original story, they all survived. But considering the current situation, who knows what might happen? They could all end up dying.
And, honestly, a dinosaur poses absolutely no threat to me. I could simply leave them to die. But when there's absolutely no risk to my own life, letting ordinary people die without even trying to help them is pretty damn cruel.
Dante ended his thoughts with a sigh.
"Well, whatever. Let's go help them."
He then looked at Bella and explained,
"Here's what we'll do: if they're just civilians, ordinary and good people, we'll help them. If they're mercenaries or criminals, we'll leave them to fend for themselves. What do you think? Does that sound good to you?"
Bella nodded.
"Yes, that sounds fine."
"Then let's go!"
Dante thought for a few moments before opening a portal. He then took an AK-47 out of it and handed it to Bella.
"Here, take this. We won't be able to use our powers to help them, so we'll use weapons and let them think we're mercenaries or something like that, as if we had some kind of mission here. After all, using weapons is easier than letting them see you or me breathing fire or growing wings."
Bella took the weapon and examined it for a few moments.
"That's a good plan, but I don't know how to shoot."
Dante smiled and answered calmly.
"Don't worry. After all, you're a half-dragon now. You have enough strength to handle the weapon's recoil without even moving a finger, along with the reflexes and eyesight needed to use an AK-47 as if it were a precision rifle. So, relax. When your body is much stronger than an ordinary person's, using a weapon becomes pretty easy, even without experience."
He then added,
"Come on, let's go! This is also good training, after all. We're going to have to fight in places where humans are present. That's why it's good for you to learn how to fight around them and resolve situations without visibly using your powers.
Bella nodded, ready to accompany him.
"Then let's go!"
Dante extinguished the campfire and began walking beside Bella, heading toward the place where they had heard the call. The woman's voice still echoed in the distance, blending with the sounds of the forest and the mysterious noises coming from the depths of the island.
Without wasting any time, the two advanced between the trees, prepared to discover who was calling for Erik.
