Chapter 13 - Chapter 12

"There is no emotion, there is peace…"

A soft, feminine voice whispered in the darkness.

"There is no ignorance, there is knowledge."

She sounded somewhat childish, maybe only a teenager.

"There is no passion, there is serenity."

A purple-skinned Twi'lek girl was suddenly illuminated by the glowing blueish-white meditation circle. The various lines lit up one after another, looking almost like a simple star-map of some sort. She was wearing a simple brown cloak over her white Padawan robes, with a brown belt around her waist.

"There is no chaos, there is harmony."

That adorable face suddenly cringed, the lights dimmed a bit and the lightsaber parts that were orbiting her body almost fell to the floor. She breathed heavier for a while, as those long purple Lekku writhed around.

"This is no death…"

Tears started dripping down her cheeks as she bit her lower lip and drew some blue blood.

"There is only the Force." Another feminine voice whispered from nearby and broke her concentration completely.

"Master…" The girl opened her big green eyes which were a little bloodshot, she even had bags from lack of sleep.

"Daesha." Kneeling in front of the girl was a blue-skinned Nautolan woman with big pitch-black eyes and a relatively small face. Those long tentacles wiggled around in front of her chest and behind her back, but otherwise, she was just as calm and 'reserved' as any Jedi Knight. She wore a simple-looking brown overtunic, a beige undertunic, brown pants and knee-high black boots.

"I'm sorry, Master…" The pieces of Daesha's lightsaber fit back together quickly, forming a silver and white hilt. The blade was switched on briefly, revealing the vibrant green blade that matched her eyes. Then she quickly turned it back off after making sure that it still worked properly.

"You've been awfully distracted lately." The woman sighed and smiled gently at the 'little girl' who was almost as big as herself now, "Are you worried about Eldra?"

"No, I mean, yes… Yes and no." Daesha smiled wryly, using the sleeves of her robe to wipe her cheeks, "I keep having nightmares when I sleep… Even when I just meditate now, I can't help seeing… Horrible things."

"The Force shows us much…" Those giant pitch-black eyes stared down at the nervous teenager, "When I rescued you back then, Master Yoda and Master Windu warned me that you were too old. You're worried about your mother, correct?"

"Master… My mother is a slave. I didn't understand when I was younger, but now…"

"You blame me for not 'saving' her as well?"

"No, of course not." The Twi'lek shook her head and waved her hands, "I don't blame you. I know you took a big risk to buy me back then. But… But I'm just thinking, that maybe I could save up some money and buy my mother's freedom?"

"And then what?" Her Master raised her right hairless brow, "After you free your mother, how will she survive? Are you going to support her until she finds a more… 'Reputable' job? Otherwise, the only difference between now and her freedom is that she will no longer have the protection of the Hutt Cartel."

"Protection?! Kikha, you don't understand! You don't know the things I've seen…" Daesha's tentacles curled up and her arms crossed as she shivered, trying not to tear up again.

"Trust me, Padawan, I've seen the darkest side of the Galaxy as well." Kikha breathed out a sighed and her tendrils twitched, "But as Jedi, we must not succumb to the darkness. Neither should we ignore and allow it to thrive… We must face our darkness and vanquish it."

"Master?"

"Very well." The woman stood up quickly and smoothly from a kneeling posture. She was an average height for a Nautolan, about 1.8 meters or nearly 6 feet. When Daesha stood in front of her awkwardly, she looked more like a 'child' again because of her short height of only 5'6" or 168 cm. Of course, that was only in terms of size. When it came to 'endowment', the tall and skinny Jedi Knight was much smaller than the busty Twi'lek girl, who clearly inherited her mother's charming features.

"Rather than pedantically waiting around and doing nothing, we might as well take a trip to the Outer Rim. Master Plo Koon recently found a very talented Togruta Youngling… Perhaps the Force is trying to guide us to Tatooine for that reason?"

"Thank you, Master~!" The girl jumped up and shouted excitedly, then quickly blushed dark-blue on her light-purple cheeks, "Umm, I mean, I'll try to calm my emotions. Eh-hem, I just, I think that maybe I'm just imagining the worst. As long as I see things with my own eyes, I can make a much more clear and logical judgment."

"Although the code says 'There is no emotion', the more commonly held belief is that we must be mindful of our emotions. Not to make decisions based on emotion. Even Master Yoda and Master Windu are not emotionless machines. Even Droids have emotions."

"That makes sense." Daesha smiled and nodded, feeling a little lightheaded and woozy from lack of sleep.

"Come now. You can get plenty of rest on the ship. It will take us at least a week to arrive."

"Okay! But Master, make sure to borrow a ship with a bathroom this time!"

"Hahah~! Don't worry, Daesha, I'll never make that mistake again…"
