Chapter 11 - The Master's Ambition

Ao Tian, who was following behind, suddenly paused and turned his head to look back.

In the distance, at a street corner, a burly figure cloaked in a black robe stood, his gaze fixed on the Notting Academy.

Ao Tian could even feel a spirit power belonging to a titled Douluo radiating from this black-robed figure, scanning through Notting Academy.

Ao Tian withdrew his gaze and continued following behind the Master and Tang San.

He knew the person watching them was Tang Hao, the greatest genius in the Hao Tian Sect for a hundred years, a strong titled Douluo known as Hao Tian Douluo.

"Teacher, thank you." Tang San said gratefully.

The Master lowered his head and smiled, "You're mistaken. I'm not a teacher at Notting Academy."

"But you just said you represented the academy?" Tang San asked in confusion.

The Master smiled and shook his head, "Those who represent the academy aren't necessarily teachers. I'm just a free lodger here, mooching food and drink. Everyone calls me 'Master.'"

"Then why do they call you Master?"

"Because I've studied martial souls for decades. On Douluo Continent, when it comes to understanding martial souls, I'm second only to none. No one dares claim first place."

The Master's voice rose slightly as he glanced subtly backward, noticing Ao Tian following. He felt somewhat satisfied.

Normally, given his nature, he wouldn't speak so arrogantly.

But today was different. He had firmly decided to take these two children as disciples.

The boy behind was a bit difficult, so he had to show off his vast knowledge.

Kids easily idolize powerful people. If he appeared impressive enough, maybe these two would obediently accept him as their master.

Such rare talents, if taught by others, would be a waste of their unparalleled gift.

Only he was qualified to be their teacher and train them into peerless powerhouses.

The Master couldn't help but clench his fist. Others called him Master, but he knew it was mostly mockery. Except for that woman from the past, no one acknowledged his theories; often he was treated as a joke.

He had bottled up anger for over ten years. Today, finally, he saw hope for vindication.

If he could take these two kids as disciples and cultivate them into super-strong warriors with his theories, those ignorant mockers would be ashamed into silence.

"Bibi Dong, you never gave me a chance to explain back then, but one day, I will stand proudly before you..."

Tang San frowned slightly. No matter how he heard The Master's words, they sounded like bragging.

Claiming to have the continent's best understanding of martial souls was wildly arrogant.

Tang San's soul was already mature as a man in his thirties; he wasn't a naive six-year-old kid easily fooled.

Instantly, his earlier respect for The Master vanished.

Ao Tian watched from behind, amused but silent.

The three walked into the shade of a tree by the roadside. Seeing Tang San and Ao Tian both silent, The Master was puzzled.

"Don't believe me?" he asked.

Tang San withdrew his hand from The Master's grip and said, "Master, thanks for helping me out just now and bringing me in. I think I'll go register now."

The Master was stunned. This wasn't a typical six-year-old's reaction. Shouldn't he be admiring him?

He turned to look at Ao Tian, who had a faint smile, tinged with mockery.

Just as Tang San was about to leave, The Master panicked and hurriedly said,

"Tang San, you are the third dual martial soul prodigy in a hundred years on the continent. Without proper guidance, you will take many detours and waste your great talent."

Just as Tang San lifted his foot to leave, he immediately retracted it, turning around with suspicion to look at The Master, his left hand quietly raised, ready to launch a deadly strike at any moment.

The Master was completely unaware he was standing at death's door. Seeing Tang San drawn back by his words, he smiled and said,

"Are you curious how I know the secret of your dual martial souls?"

Tang San said nothing, his eyes fixed tightly on The Master, with a hidden murderous intent only Ao Tian could sense.

If The Master showed even a hint of ill will, Tang San would attack without hesitation. His father warned him never to reveal the secret of the Hao Tian Hammer.

Tang San stood cleverly, using The Master to block Ao Tian's view. Even if The Master was killed, no one would know it was Tang San.

How could a six-year-old kill an adult soul master?

Seeing Tang San remain silent, The Master smugly said,

"I said it before—no one understands martial souls better than me. Just from your proof, I can deduce the secret of your dual martial souls. Otherwise, I wouldn't deserve to be called 'Master.'"

"I have investigated before..."

"Based on the ten core competitive strengths of martial souls I researched..."

The Master rambled on with professional knowledge, analyzing his deductions, speaking fluently.

Tang San lowered his arm, his eyes calm again.

"There are always exceptions. Maybe I'm the exception to your theory?"

The Master shook his head, "Impossible. In the past hundred years, nineteen innate full-soul power users appeared on Douluo Continent. I studied all their martial souls carefully—none were weak. Your Blue Silver Grass martial soul is very ordinary and can't explain your innate full-soul power. So I conclude you must have another powerful martial soul!"

Tang San's gaze toward The Master gradually grew respectful. Suddenly, he stepped back, and with a bang, knelt on both knees, knocking his head hard three times.

The Master was stunned, not understanding why Tang San suddenly knelt and kowtowed.

"What are you doing?" he hurriedly tried to pull him up.

Tang San was resolute and respectfully said,

"Master, I'm willing to learn from you. Please accept me as your disciple."

Within those few minutes, he was convinced by The Master's rich theoretical knowledge. He already had strong talent; what he lacked was cultivation knowledge.

With such a wise teacher, he would avoid many detours.

The Master smiled with satisfaction, pulling Tang San up,

"Kowtowing is for kings and parents; bowing is enough."

But Tang San was serious,

"Once a teacher, forever a father. I should perform this great ritual for you."

The Master was deeply moved and laughed heartily,

"Good, very good, I've really taken a fine disciple."

Tang San smiled too. He had been a bit confused about academy life, but now with a master, he had direction.

Suddenly, The Master remembered another little genius and quickly turned, looking expectantly at Ao Tian.

Tang San frowned slightly. Maybe because Ao Tian refused to show his martial soul earlier, he disliked this good-looking kid.

He also guessed The Master's intention to take Ao Tian as a disciple.

Ao Tian smiled and met The Master's gaze.

The Master said,

"Ao Tian, if you also want to become a powerful soul master, then study with me alongside Tang San."

Ao Tian shook his head with a smile,

"Sorry, I refuse."
