Chapter 11 - Chapter 11- Smash hit

With the entire blade still buried within the mutated corpse, Grey slashed forward and then up. Managing to leave a long bloody gash on the flesh of the corpse. But instead of usual red liquid he expected, what came out was rotten flesh and maggots mixed with blackblood.

'Disgusting'

The corpse threw him a hateful glare with its one remaining eye still ravaged by the maggots and swung its claw at him. He easily sidestepped and careened to the side. The claw passing by his side followed by a fierce breeze.

The corpse wanted to attack him again, but then Captain swung his sword at the decaying calamity. His sword also left a long wound on the side of the corpse head and tore open its skull.

Dead brain matter and other juices flowed out. Captain gave him a soft smile as if approving of his decision and together, they both attacked like a fierce storm. Each delivering an attack in tandem.

Whenever captain attacked and the corpse would turn its full attention on him, Grey would slash and make the disaster ignore the young man for a while and face him.

Whenever the corpse did the same thing to him, the captain would attack in the same way. Leading the corpse to leave its former target.

With this plan set, they avoided severe injuries and only managed to get scraped or scratched by the corpse a few times.

After nearly a minute, the rabbit corpse- Grey's former kill arrived and it put more strain om their already fragile attack balance.

As the rabbit got close, it immediately leaped and sought to attack Grey. Madness and fury evident in its growls and hatred visible in the black misty eyes.

It seemed to harbor extreme hatred for Grey since he was the one to kill it and cause it's demise.

The black horn on its head, started condensing black thick fog as it readied itself for an attack. And Grey who would not obviously let it.

He took a glance at the Captain who was surprisingly evading most of the corpse's attack. Well what did he expect, he was in the eight level of Wi condensation after all. His attack prowess would definitely be higher than Grey's and he would be able to last a few moments without him.

Seeing the glance that Grey gave him, the captain grinned and said. "Take care of it. But don't take your time." He had a strange confidence in Grey being able to take care of a fourth level mutated creature.

Not wasting anymore time, he dashed over to the rabbit that was slowly gathering energy for a big attack.

'Oh, no you don't.'

His kitchen knife gleamed in the light as he intercepted the rabbit. Aiming to plunge the knife into the head of the rabbit.

The rabbit however jumped with such finesse and grace that almost made Grey want to curse aloud again.

The strange acrobatics of the rabbit was why he hated and killed this rabbit a few minutes ago. It was just too damn fast!

No... not fast, just had a very quick reaction time which was sure to extend this fight by a long time.

And with him using only a short knife which could only deal damage with him getting close. Yeah, he was in for the time of his life.

Since the rabbit was dead not too long ago, it still retained most its former battle prowess and most of its abilities which would make putting it down much harder and take a while longer.

He took a short glance again at the captain who was still managing to survive the onslaught of the rotten calamity, but several wounds had appeared on his person instead. And although they wouldn't affect his performance in battle.

It wouldn't take much longer they did and his capabilities started to degrade. Making the inevitable sure to happen. But despite the growing amount of wounds, he was still as casual and carefree as ever. As if waiting for Grey to finish his battle and come help me.

'He thinks i wouldn't run away, huh.' But he truth he wouldn't, or say he couldn't. Not after starting this fight.

If he left, sooner or later the captain was bound to be torn to pieces in a matter of minutes and he wasn't sure he would be able to escape the corroded zone in that short timeframe.

The rabbit jumped and tried to stab him with it's horn, but Grey swatted it away with his right hand.

Despite it being a mutated creature and one in the fourth level at that, it was still just a rabbit. It had not grown in size or anything like that which still made it susceptible to swats like the ones Grey had just displayed.

The creature hit the floor and kicked up dust. It bared it's hungry teeth at Grey with white foam coming out from its mouth. Anger could be seen deep within the black fog that was now its eyes.

'Does... this thing have a disease. Wait... w-what am i saying. It has mutated thanks to the corrosive subtance.'

It leaped at him again, brandishing its single horn still accumulating energy for an attack but this time Grey didn't swat it again.

Since he was prepared for it this time, his blunt knife stabbed into its flesh. It met some amount of resistance due to his blunt weapon and the corpse's tough fur, but that resistance went away in the next second as his blade went into the body of the rabbit.

Coagulating blood ran down the blade of his knife and down his arm before dropping to the ground as drops.

But despite this supposedly fatal wound, the rabbit was still alive and kicking like it had never been injured in the first.

Because of their close proximity, the rabbit bit deep into Grey's other hand and drew blood.

Grey panicked a little and tried to shake off the little vermin but its bite was almost vice like.

'Damn'

'Of course it would not be fatal. What was i thinking, its already dead anyways and is even controlled by another being.'

Since the rabbit was currently hanging on to his hand with no plans of letting go anytime soon, he did something he wouldn't have thought he would do.

As the blade of the blunt knife sliding out of the body of the rabbit. With the rabbit still latched on to his left hand, he swung at his hand towards the ground. Intending to beat the rabbit on the ground.

'This is... going to hurt.'

He smacked the rabbit on the floor brutally, half expecting the rabbit to let go but when it did not, a wave of pain struck him from his right.

He had to bite his lips in order to suppress a loud groan. The rabbit still latched on his hand, but when he saw the results, he saw the body of the rabbit bend in quite a position.

'Here we go.'

The rabbit did not seem to notice the weird angle of its body and it didn't care. With its sharp and jagged teeth still locked into Grey's thin and pale flesh, Grey smashed the rabbit on the ground again, and again still having to endure the sharp pain that came along with it.
