Chapter 17 - Chapter 17: Who Doesn't Obey You

Chloe Quinn breathed a sigh of relief, "I was worried to death, I thought if you made any moves, my sponsorship might hold you back."

"Thank you!" Florence Fuller raised an eyebrow, "But what made you decide to sponsor it?"

"I saw Lily Lancaster and Lily Hart were busy with DN Dawn's affairs, and after you successfully acquired shares, I did some digging. This radio station company's former glory is long gone, yet you still decided to take it over. I thought you must be up to something, so I figured I'd invest a bit to back you up."

Florence Fuller laughed.

"Later, I found out that Charles Shaw was in the mix. You didn't buy it just for your brother, did you?"

"Yes and no." Florence Fuller took a sip from her glass, "I came to SJ because of my mother's illness, and for him to find a company like the TV station was not easy. DN Dawn isn't what it used to be; despite his great talent, he can only host the midnight show due to the lack of sponsors, and he's even facing the risk of being laid off..."

"You could sponsor… or push him to the prime-time host position."

"If I did that, sooner or later he'd find out." Florence Fuller thought, "But DN Dawn is mine now, and I'm not just helping him."

"What if he asks you?" Chloe Quinn asked.

"If there's a chance, I'll tell him. In business, compensations are mine to claim."

"Hahahahaha!" Chloe Quinn laughed heartily, nodding repeatedly.

Cloudview Golf Club.

Florence Fuller arrived early, swung a few rounds on the course, and finally Lily Hart had a moment to inform her that the CEO of DN Dawn along with several board members had arrived.

Receiving the water handed over by the caddy, the VIP box behind her was made of panoramic glass. The people inside stood properly, their eyes on her.

"President Fuller."

Seeing her enter, they lowered their heads in greeting.

Florence Fuller sat down on a single-seat sofa, and as the staff handed her a hot towel, she accepted it while glancing over at the group: "Please, have a seat."

Despite being much younger than the others, her cold and firm presence did not waver. Without saying a word, once she sat down, the others did not speak either.

Florence Fuller waited a moment, "Is there nothing you want to say?"

William Shenton, currently the acting CEO of the radio company, pulled out some documents from his briefcase, "President Fuller, the company recently received resignation letters from two board members."

Florence Fuller took them and scanned through, glancing up at the group across from her, "Chairman Wangford submitted a resignation yet came all this way, maybe your trip was in vain!"

Reaching out, Lily Hart handed her a pen, and Florence Fuller smoothly approved it.

The group remained frozen, tensed.

The look on Chairman Wangford's face was extremely unpleasant; after all, he was a veteran of the company. DN Dawn hasn't been what it used to be, relying on Light Industries to barely stabilize, and yet David Sussex decided to sell without considering them.

Moreover, the person taking over was just this young girl, wasn't she bound to destroy DN Dawn?

He clenched his hands into fists, his brow furrowed, looking at the woman across with great displeasure.

It was not as he expected; logically, the woman should have asked him to stay.

Florence Fuller raised an eyebrow, "Take care; I won't see you out."

Lily Hart stepped forward, "This way, Chairman Wangford, we'll arrange for someone to handle the remaining tasks you have."

Chairman Wangford snorted coldly and got up to leave.

"Everyone," Florence Fuller glanced at the others, "Does anyone else want to leave?"

A silence followed, and then they each shook their heads.

"Very well." Florence Fuller nodded, "Next, I'll discuss the future reorganization of DN Dawn."

"DN Dawn currently has only one viable prime-time host... Amelia Gordon!" Florence Fuller tapped on the photo on the tablet, "Terrible speech delivery, overly dramatic, is this what DN Dawn is?"

William Shenton's expression was somewhat heavy, "Apologies."

Although he held the CEO title, his power was limited, and he couldn't make decisions on some matters.

"Amelia Gordon's background..." one of the board members spoke, "Her father is a figure in politics, and Chairman Wangford is her uncle, so the station only pushes her."

Florence Fuller leaned back in her chair, "Once her contract ends, remove her! And those who were pushed in by connections, all removed! Now we recruit based on standards."

"President Fuller..." Chairman Lane looked troubled, "Behind Amelia Gordon is the Gordon Family... they're not someone we can afford to offend."

Florence Fuller sneered, "Fine, I'll handle her. But within this week, I want to see a new plan and personnel changes for DN Dawn, okay? William Shenton!"

William Shenton glanced over the board members with difficulty, "I… I'll try my best."

"Not 'try your best', it's 'must do'!" Florence Fuller looked at him, "When I tell you to act, you act. Anyone who doesn't comply, let them come to me!"

Her words had a pointed undertone, her side glance sweeping over to the group opposite her, "Since DN Dawn is mine now, I can't allow its continued demise in such a destructive manner. Whether to profit or be pushed out, you all know well."

Chairman Lane sighed, raising the teacup in front of him, "President Fuller is wise, and since DN Dawn is ushering in a new era, naturally, we support."

The others echoed, raising their teacups in agreement.

Florence Fuller raised an eyebrow, looking at William Shenton, "Don't let me down, President Shenton."

William Shenton nodded solemnly.

Once the meeting dispersed, Lily Hart saw them out, while Florence Fuller planned to stay a while longer before leaving. She leaned back on the sofa to rest when a knock came from the door.

She looked up to see Luke Gardiner leaning casually at the doorway, eyes full of amusement as he looked at her, "Fancy running into you here, dear wife."

Florence Fuller drew back her gaze, ignoring him.

Luke Gardiner strolled inside, noticing the empty teacups on the coffee table, acting as if Florence Fuller didn't exist, "Do you play golf?"

"No."

"Then what are you doing here?" Luke Gardiner asked.

"For fun."

Luke Gardiner reached out and snatched the phone out of her hand, eliciting a stern look from Florence Fuller. His handsome face beamed with delight, "Playing with your phone?"

Florence Fuller glared at him, "Give it back."

"Beg me."

Seeing his smug expression, Florence Fuller secretly clenched her fist. Luke Gardiner caught a glimpse and instinctively stood up, "What are you doing? Want to hit me again?"

Florence Fuller looked at him coldly.

Luke Gardiner sneered and casually slipped the phone into his pocket, boldly lounging back on the sofa, "Go on, take it."

Florence Fuller resisted, smoothing into a gentle smile, looking at Luke Gardiner, "Could you kindly return my phone?"

Luke Gardiner raised an eyebrow seeing this, "Call me 'husband' for me to hear."

Florence Fuller's lips twitched twice, biting her lip to endure, "Please return my phone."

"Call me 'husband' and I'll give it to you." Luke Gardiner crossed his legs, deliberately teasing her.

Florence Fuller stepped forward as if in resignation, "If I call you, will you give it back?"

Luke Gardiner lifted his chin, "Yes, make it sound nice."

Florence Fuller leaned closer to him, their eyes meeting. She softly stroked his face with her fingertips, gradually narrowing their distance.

A tingling sensation stirred Luke Gardiner's heart, his Adam's apple bobbing as he gazed at Florence Fuller's captivating face. He couldn't help but reach out and caress her face, his gaze trailing along her eyebrows, nose, and settled on her full, enticing lips.
