Chapter 14 - Chapter 014: How about you all have some soup?

The Great Princess wanted to pick something but felt embarrassed.

She was in a hurry.

Li Yuzhu glanced at her and stuffed an ordinary rib into her hand.

She was starving and couldn't wait to start gnawing, but after a couple of bites, she noticed her mother glaring fiercely at her.

She immediately tried to appear more refined.

Xue Family saw that all the good food had been taken, and anxiously tugged at the Princely Heir's sleeve, "Husband."

The Princely Heir pretended not to hear. He couldn't bring himself to ask his honorable big brother to beg his little sister.

He brushed off the Xue Family's hand without a word.

Xue Family was so angry she nearly twisted her sleeve apart.

Li Yuzhu took out two pieces of meat and gave them to Old Qin and his wife.

The old couple smiled and waved their hands repeatedly, saying, "Our teeth aren't good enough to chew chunks of meat. You all should keep the meat."

Li Yuzhu insisted on giving it to them, "You two can stew it in porridge until it's so tender that even without teeth, you can eat it." This family was so poor that they only had four walls; they probably didn't eat meat regularly.

The old couple was grateful and had to accept it.

But they couldn't bear to eat them and saved them in a bowl.

The two little ones couldn't chew the meat, and besides, they were asleep now.

Li Yuzhu didn't save any rabbit meat for them and planned to make something soft when they woke up.

Li Xing'an, chewing on a piece of meat, glanced at the Princely Heir and the Xue Family, who were eyeing the clay basin hungrily, and mumbled, "Third Sister, don't just look after us, eat some yourself? You fainted from hunger this afternoon."

"I know." Li Yuzhu held a piece of meat in one hand and a piece of bone in the other, enjoying her meal delightfully.

Completely forgetting about the Princely Heir and his wife.

Xue Family was fuming mad, "Li Yuzhu, why don't my husband and I have anything to eat?"

Li Yuzhu looked at the clay basin, which only had soup left, "There's no meat or bones left; if you want, you can have the soup?"

"Why do you get two pieces of meat and bones and I only get soup?" Xue Family protested angrily.

"Because I found the rabbit! I was the one who cooked the rabbit meat! I worked for it, so I'm entitled to more, isn't that fair? Besides, when we were on the road, you snatched food from me several times. Can't I eat some of yours? Oh, wait, the rabbit was originally mine, so it's not even yours." Li Yuzhu bit a piece of delicious rabbit meat, and spoke with confidence.

Although she had two pieces of meat and bones, they were two of the smallest pieces, together not even as big as one of someone else's big piece.

Is Xue Family blind that she can't see this?

Xue Family was so angry her vision went black, and she almost fainted.

This stupid sister-in-law, how did she suddenly become so sharp-tongued?

"Enough, stop arguing, soup it is then." The Princely Heir, holding the sleeping daughter, stretched out his other hand to take a bowl and ladle some soup.

Xue Family wanted to make a scene but noticed the Princess Consort Luling glaring at her fiercely, and she immediately drew back, not daring to make a sound.

When Mrs. Qin tried to give Xue Family the rabbit meat that Li Yuzhu had given her, she didn't dare to accept it either.

Reluctantly, she followed the Princely Heir and drank the meat soup.

...

After eating, the family settled down to rest in the side room of Old Qin's house.

Given the limited conditions, things like bathing couldn't be bothered with.

There was no bed in the room, let alone chairs or anything; it was just an empty room filled with farm tools.

Mrs. Qin piled all the farm tools in one corner, cleaned the floor, and spread a layer of straw on the empty ground for everyone to sit and rest.

Although the room was simple, it was better than sleeping out in the open.

The straw was warm, and the family, already exhausted, soon fell asleep.

But Li Yuzhu didn't sleep soundly.
