Chapter 5 - Chapter 5: Making a Comeback in Showbiz? Who Cares [Part 3]

The force was obstructed, and Lily Turner suddenly looked up, seeing the person standing outside the door, she had no choice but to suppress her anger.

Nora Scott.

One hand against the door, the other holding a wet scarf and a bottle of mineral water.

No expression, her demeanor indifferent, her brows tinged with coolness, her dark pupils quietly stared at her, making one's chest feel cold and a cold sweat appear on their back.

"What, I'm paying you to work, and you want to stand up for her?"

Lily Turner tightened her brows, her words laced with anger.

With a flick of her hand, the scarf and cup were thrown onto the seat, the clatter causing Lily Turner's eyelids to twitch and her heart to feel uneasy.

"I'm here to get the clothes."

Nora Scott's words were brief and to the point.

After a few seconds of standoff, Lily Turner exhaled, moving aside to let her into the car.

The temperature had dropped, filming outdoors was too cold, so Nora Scott had prepared a military coat in the car. During filming, she would wrap herself in the coat so it wouldn't be too hard to endure after a long time without moving.

With a cold glare at Isabel Lyle lying on the ground looking pitiful, a trace of suspicion flashed in Lily Turner's eyes, and she snorted coldly, withdrawing her gaze.

The car door closed automatically.

Gritting her teeth, Lily Turner said, "I suspect Isabel Lyle has a problem."

"..."

Nora Scott casually put on the military coat.

Seeing this, Lily Turner was furious, "Say something!"

Adjusting the collar, Nora Scott casually asked, "Did she poison you?"

"She's been pissing me off all morning!" Lily Turner's face was slightly red with anger, "Just now she fell with a push, and she didn't screw the bottle cap tightly. I suspect she did it on purpose!"

"Can't you change assistants?"

"..."

Lily Turner really didn't like Nora Scott at all.

This woman was cold, arrogant, and laid-back, with a tough attitude towards work, indifferent to everything except what she was supposed to do.

She had no sense of servitude.

Yet during this time period, the car had been tampered with, there had been encounters with bandits on the road, knockings at the door at midnight, drugs in the food, destruction of props by the crew...

Each incident was extremely dangerous.

All because of Nora Scott's presence, she was able to turn danger into safety.

She didn't like Nora Scott, but she had no choice but to rely on her.

Feeling troubled, as Nora Scott was about to get out of the car, Lily Turner suddenly raised her voice and shouted, "Wait!"

Nora Scott turned her head to look at her.

Lily Turner gently pressed her lips together, her tone softening, saying, "I haven't coordinated things here yet, I need you to stay a few more days."

Sitting back in the seat, Nora Scott rested her elbow on the armrest, calmly saying, "The evidence I collected for you is enough to free you from him."

"He's on a business trip, I can't reach him. This person, if pushed, might really want my life."

The "he" Lily Turner referred to was a man with some status in the circle.

Lily Turner had her ways.

She had a formal education, but during her school years, she had seen a lot of dirty things in the circle. Knowing how hard it was to get ahead in this industry, she had no intention of climbing step by step the traditional way, but instead aimed to take shortcuts.

She wanted to rise but wasn't careless, at the start she targeted her mark, using every means necessary, only getting involved with someone who could elevate her.

In three years, she used her backing to seize various resources, coupled with her outstanding appearance and adequate business skills, and with no scandals in private, she managed to gain both popularity and a good reputation, successfully entering the first rank.

Having now made several connections in the circle, as the time was ripe, she began looking for a way out.

Although her backing hadn't taken her into account, upon learning that she wanted to burn bridges, naturally, he wouldn't let go easily, thus a series of events occurred.

He wanted to hold something over her, trying to make her restless.

But during this time, every time he sent people, Nora Scott kept evidence, all unfavorable to him.

With evidence, she had leverage, making Lily Turner much more at ease. But with the issue unresolved, she couldn't let Nora Scott leave.

Though Nora Scott's working style didn't please her, her presence was like a reassurance.

"Within the agreed time, I can keep you safe," Nora Scott said lazily, yet with a tone of certainty.

An implicit self-confidence, undeniable.

"I mean extending the time," Lily Turner frowned slightly, calming a little, she said, "Name your price. Rest assured, it won't waste much of your time, at most a week."

With the matter unsettled, she was plagued with worry, it had to be resolved quickly.

Besides...

With a slight upward curl of her lips, Nora Scott fiddled with her phone, "Have you forgotten the cost it took to hire me?"

Lily Turner's heart gave an involuntary jolt.

Nora Scott didn't belong to a formal security firm, she took on jobs freely. Not trusting those ordinary bodyguards on the market, Lily Turner connected through numerous contacts and favors to find someone as "reliable" as Nora Scott for a high price.

Rather than saying she chose Nora Scott, it was more accurate to say Nora Scott chose her.

"You won't agree?"

"Why not think about how to solve this quickly."

"..."

The negotiation had failed, with no room for concession, leaving Lily Turner frustrated.

Her gaze fell on Nora Scott's smiling face.

Nora Scott was someone beautiful both in appearance and in spirit, naturally gifted in looks, exuding a unique and carefree temperament, standing out anywhere, an eye-catching presence.

Today, with a touch of light makeup, inexplicably stunning.

Somehow, thinking of the trending topic about Bruno today, and some rumors within the circle, Lily Turner suddenly said, "With your looks and someone willing to back you, it's not impossible to turn things around in the entertainment industry. I can help you."

The car door opened, Nora Scott was already at the doorway.

Hearing the words, she paused slightly, yet didn't turn back, stepping out of the car instead.

The wind, carrying biting cold, swept into the car intermixed with a cold, disdainful chuckle——

"Who cares?"

Watching that elegant and tall figure, Lily Turner coldly smiled.

She indeed had backbone.

Yet, no matter her skill, wasn't she still doing the hard, tiring, and dangerous work of a bodyguard, letting those she scorned use her as a shield?

Did she really think she was superior!

"Nora Scott."

Katherine, holding a freshly filled insulated cup, approached, greeting Nora Scott softly, but subconsciously avoiding eye contact with her.

Nora Scott gave her a glance.

The down jacket on top was fine, not soaked through even when drenched, but her hair and sweater collar were wet. She looked cold, but despite shivering, she endured.

Her face didn't appear particularly aggrieved or pitiful, more like a calm demeanor.

Katherine lowered her head, wanting to bypass her, but after taking a step, hesitated slightly, then added: "I reported your meal with the production team, remember to get your lunchbox later."

"Hmm."

Nora Scott responded faintly, as Katherine passed her side, her voice suddenly deepened——

"Don't invite trouble."

"..."

Katherine was startled, lightly biting her lip, she quickly walked away with her head lowered.

Nora Scott shrugged, strolling forward leisurely, and after just a few steps, hearing the noise of voices, she raised her eyes in the direction, only to see the origin was a flashy red sports car.

"Isn't that Master Johnson's car?"

"That rich heir is not known for diligence, why did he come today?"

"Probably coming for Turner, he's been pursuing her lately."
