The healer lets me sit up today.
Not stand or walk. She just lets me sit, against three pillows, with a blanket over my knees. She watches me do it like I'm carrying a full bowl across a room, and when I don't "drop anything", she nods once and leaves.
It's the best thing that's happened to me in two weeks. I'm not propped up uncomfortably. I'm fully sitting. That alone feels like such an improvement.
Koda is asleep in the chair by my bed. I wouldn't call that sleeping, though. He's sitting upright with his arms folded and his chin on his chest…the way a guard sleeps when he isn't supposed to.
His krompa is yesterday's krompa. I know because I can still see the soup stain from yesterday on it. One of his boots is untied, and despite his dark, beautiful skin, the dark circles under his eyes are painfully obvious.
Has he slept in a bed once since I woke up?? I don't think so… I don't like it either.
