Chapter 15 - Chapter 15 Proposal

Samuel Grant slowly walked over and suddenly sat by the bed, gently touching her head: "Daisy, it's been tough for you during this time."

Daisy Stone didn't know why, but a trace of fear arose in her heart: "Samuel Grant, has something happened?"

Samuel's expression appeared somewhat heavy: "The doctor told me that your unstable emotions are causing problems with your body. Currently, there might be a risk of miscarriage; we might not be able to keep our baby."

Unexpectedly, upon hearing the news, Daisy's first reaction was not sadness but a sense of relief.

She realized that this unborn child was the last bond connecting the two of them.

If there were no child, could she completely freed herself?

She no longer fantasized about becoming Samuel's wife, especially as the scandal involving her and Sir Grant has been widely spread online, making marriage impossible.

However, the emotions she presented were entirely different: covering her mouth as if tears were about to spill out, "My baby..."

Samuel Grant, I can't lose this baby!"

Samuel tightly embraced her: "Ultimately, this was all caused by Clara Bennett's trouble. Don't worry, no matter who harmed the child, I will seek justice for them."

Upon hearing this, Daisy instinctively felt something was off; she furrowed her brows: "Samuel Grant, what exactly are you planning to do?"

"Daisy, in your heart, is the value of this child equivalent to one billion dollars?"

Samuel's gentle voice sounded: "Although it won't leave without reason, it is my son, and it will help me solve the crisis one last time."

Daisy's eyes widened.

Could it be—

She wanted to ask Samuel: Is there truly no way to save this child?

Or is it that as a father, he selfishly wants to use it as a bargaining chip, thus choosing to deceive her?

However, these questions ultimately remained unasked.

To her, perhaps not coming into this world is a better choice for this un-met little life.

But, this loss of benefit, Samuel Grant must not acquire it for free.

Since he said the child is worth a billion, then let's talk money.

While the outside world was speculating about this matter, Samuel arranged a meeting with Clara Bennett and proposed to give her a check as repayment.

Samuel looked very fatigued: "I finally managed to scrape together the money. Given our family's current situation facing quite a lot of negative publicity, I don't want the matter to become complicated, can you come alone to collect this check?"

Upon hearing this, a hint of hesitation passed in Clara's eyes, but she still resolutely answered: "Okay."

After hanging up the phone, she vaguely sensed the other party wouldn't give in so easily.

Samuel's past is marked by greed, how could he genuinely intend to repay debts?

Even so, Clara decided to go alone.

In this lifetime, she refused to be protected or controlled by anyone; facing Samuel, only by taking matters into her own hands could she win this battle.

Clara had nothing to fear anymore; in the past life, he hid too well, but in this life, she absolutely wouldn't be tricked by him again.

Carrying a sense of doubt, Clara prepared simply at home before heading out.

Inside the restaurant's private room, Samuel met Clara.

She looked exceptionally beautiful today.

Today, she wore a well-fitted dress, her hair pinned up, adorned with a pearl hair clip, wearing black rose earrings, with bright red lips that were very captivating.

Yet that dress was particularly striking; it was emerald green, making her skin appear as white as snow.

Samuel felt breathless for a moment; he had never seen her dressed like this before.

Clara indeed looked very beautiful, with a charming face, bright eyes, alluring lips, belonging to the kind of beauty one wouldn't forget at first sight.

Samuel suddenly wondered, why hadn't he noticed her beauty before?

Perhaps she used to always wear unflattering clothes that concealed her beauty.

After sitting down, Clara directly asked: "Where's the check?"

Samuel replied: "Since the incident, we haven't really talked; let's eat something first."

Clara said coldly: "I've already eaten."

She absolutely wouldn't touch anything Samuel offered, not even a sip of water.

Samuel suggested: "Then how about a cup of tea?"

The waiter brought tea, but Clara didn't touch the cup.

The room was filled with fragrant incense and fresh tea aroma, but the mixed scent made Clara frown, feeling a bit unbearable.

Samuel asked with concern: "You must be thirsty after traveling here; would you like some tea?"

Clara raised an eyebrow and said: "I don't want to mess up my lipstick because of it."

Samuel sighed helplessly: "You still don't trust me."

Clara coldly chuckled: "Shouldn't I? There's no need for us to beat around the bush; after all, I'm here today for the money. Once you give me the check, I'll leave immediately."

Samuel suddenly stood up, kneeling on one knee, smoothly opening a small box he had just taken out of his pocket: "Clara, I originally wanted to propose to you on your birthday; this ring I've been preparing all along, unfortunately, I never found the opportunity to give it to you. Do you think we truly have no chance? Do you really want to marry him just out of spite? With him, you'll face lots of ridicule. Give me another chance; I'll spend my life making up for the mistakes I've made."

Clara reached out, took out the ring, and looked at it: "It's designed like a rose."

Samuel smiled gently: "A white rose, didn't you once love this flower? It symbolizes a first love. To me, you represent my one and only partner in life."

A flicker of disgust passed in Clara's eyes as she tossed the ring into the trash: "Samuel Grant, because of you, I now despise this flower! What first love? How could you possibly deserve it? If it weren't for that white flower making me mistakenly believe you were the one destined for me, I would not have been so foolish. Don't mention white roses anymore; hearing it makes me nauseous!"

Samuel was stunned.

Childhood events?

Did the two of them meet as children?

That couldn't have happened!

But clearly, now is not the time to question further. He stood up with a somber face: "You won't agree, do you really intend to marry my uncle?"

Clara furrowed her brows: "I do plan to marry him, and I owe it to you; you made it possible for William and me to become a couple. Truth be told, this check is actually part of my dowry, along with the ten billion my family initially prepared for me; I prepared this much dowry especially for your uncle."

"You're dreaming, Clara; you have no chance of marrying him."

Samuel revealed a strange smile, "Did you really think I'm here to give you a check, my dear? Why are you still so naïve?"
