The view from Leon's penthouse was blinding.
Skyscrapers. Silence. Sky.
Everything about the place felt like another world—shiny, untouchable, cold.
Just like him.
⸻
She wandered to the window, arms crossed.
"Is this where you hide from everything?" she asked.
Leon, seated on a low leather couch behind her, didn't answer right away.
"I don't hide," he said at last. "I watch."
"And what do you see?"
He stood, walked toward her. "Everything I want. And everything I can't have."
⸻
Her heart stuttered.
He was too close. Too honest.
But before she could say anything, Nico burst through the door.
Urgent. Tight-jawed.
"Leon. There's been a breach."
Leon's eyes sharpened instantly. "Where?"
"The warehouse. North end. Firebomb. Message left."
He glanced at Ayla.
Then back to Nico.
"Get the car."
⸻
Ayla frowned. "What's going on?"
Leon faced her, calm and unreadable.
"Someone just tried to remind me I'm not untouchable."
"And me?"
"You?" His voice lowered. "You're now my biggest weakness. They'll figure that out soon."
