Chapter 4
Everyone froze. Her father looked at her with surprised but kind eyes. Victoria, her stepmother, had the biggest frown on her face that it was laughable. Travis broke the silence by choking on his eggs.
"Are you okay?" Alice asked worriedly, handing him a cup of coffee.
"I'm fine." He said, drinking a swig on the coffee.
"Careful. You may burn your tongue."
This weird affection was strange but nice. He wasn't complaining but it was weird that she wasn't freaking out by seeing him and she wanted to get married too?
Everyone looked at them with wide eyes.
"Don't you think it's too early for you to get married? I mean you're only so-"
"I thought you were getting me who wanted me out of the house so soon, Mother. What's the need to pretend now?" Alice said with a sneer.
"Come on, Alice. Don't be like that. I only want the best for you like any mother would." She said with faux gentleness.
"Mhm. Daddy, what's that tea you're drinking?" Alice asked her father, ignoring her stepmother.
"It's this blood pressure tea Victoria got from Spain the last time she went."
"Is it branded?" Her stepmother's face hardened from the question.
"What was this stupid bitch up to now? Has she gotten smarter overnight? Does she know something?" Victoria thought sending a glare to Alice.
"No dear. I don't think so."
"You should stop taking it. We don't know what it is or what is inside. It isn't safe." Alice remembered that in her past life her father died abruptly and there were traces of poison. She suspected her stepmother was giving him small doses of medicine everyday for his organs to fail.
"I'm going now. Travis is going to drop me off." Alice said rising up and moving towards the door with Travis.
Travis got in the back seat of the Tolls-Toyce in deep thought.
"Who was this girl? What had they done with the real Alice?"
"Do you want to go to the marriage bureau after school to get our marriage license? I carried my documents." Alice said abruptly.
Travis was caught off guard yet again. He looked at her with smiling eyes. "Do you really want to?" He asked in a deep, sensual voice.
Alice's cheeks reddened as she answered shyly. "Yes I do."
"I'll go ring shopping before the end of the day, then we can register the marriage." He answered.
"Oh. That's better." She said looking out the window with deep thought.
"Is she having regrets now? Is she thinking about that boy?" Travis thought angrily as he pulled her into his lap.
Alice gasped as she was pulled on the wolf's thigh. "Are you okay?" She asked him, looking into his eyes.
"Stop thinking about him." He said angrily, his hand tightening around her waist.
"Thinking about who?" She said confusedly looking at him.
It finally clicked. He must have thought she was thinking about Grant.
"Your jealousy is so cute." She said, pecking his cheeks.
"The only man I think of is you. No one else." She said, pecking him again.
The rest of the car ride was in silence. The big bad wolf's heart was sated and Alice sat on his lap nimbly until they reached closer to the school gate.
"Drop me off here. I don't want anyone to see me getting off such a high brand car. It'll draw too much attention." She said looking at him.
He looked at her for a moment finally agreeing. "Okay."
She got off the car, pausing by the door slightly then turning to give the wolf a big kiss on his lips.
"Bye." She said smiling and running to the gate.
He looked confused. He touched his lips then smiled waving at the driver to continue driving.
Alice walked into the premises of the school, noticing other people's stares on her.
"Wow, who's she? Is she a new transfer student? She's so beautiful." The people whispered.
"She's the most beautiful girl on campus. She's even more beautiful than Octavia." Another voice whispered.
She ignored all the whispers going straight to her first class. When she pushed open the door. The noise hushed. There was no sound heard. It was like the class was frozen. She looked around for her chair, citing the last chair at the back with books heaped.
She moved to the chair, ignoring the stares.
"Who is she? Is she a new student? Oh my goodness? She's going to that ugly wench's chair." Whispers sounded all around the class.
She pushed all the books to the floor, kicking away all the rubbish and settling down on the chair, resting her head on the table.
"E-excuse me." A small voice called out by her side. She opened her eyes to see who it was, a cute girl with glasses. She remembered her from her past life. She was one of the people that were nice to her and tried to warn her but she ignored her. Her name was Nora.
In the future, she was an excellent script writer who was so popular but she married a bad man who beat her and later she ended up dead with her wrists slit in her bathtub. It was all over the news. She would try as much as she could to protect her in this life.
Nora was astounded by the pretty girl heavily staring at her with hooded eyes. Her cheeks reddened as she turned away, stuttering.
"Someone's sitting there and her name's Alice. You can get another side. You can come to the one near me. There's no one there." She said shyly.
"She has a distinct personality and she's going to get really mad seeing you touching her things." The whole class looked with surprise as th
ey saw Nora with Alice.
"I know."
"You know?"
"Yes. I know because I'm her. I'm Alice."
