Chapter 138 - Chapter 137

"Where, where are you going?" I asked.

Isaac smiled softly and covered my eyes with one hand. I smelled a sweet perfume, and then for a moment, the world felt like it was gone.

"To the desert," he said.

His words made me feel a little thirsty. He slowly removed his hand, and a gentle breeze touched my hair. The world changed in the blink of an eye, I thought. I had only closed my eyes for a moment, but in front of me was a magnificent desert at night.

I marveled at the rapidly drying air and the dark environment. "It must have been daytime, and I was in my office... What happened?" I asked.

"We've come to a very distant place. It's the end of the world, Mel," he said.

My awe was short-lived. I stiffened when I saw a large sandstorm rapidly approaching in the distance. Did he notice me panicking? Isaac hugged me lightly from behind. I felt his solid body against my back. I bit my lip and managed to pull away, my arms overly stiff and my shoulders straight.

As he recited a spell in a sweet voice, the sandstorm began to dissipate. But there was a problem. The back of my dress was cut low, and Isaac's shirt was unbuttoned at the chest. This meant our skin was in contact.

"Close your eyes," he said.

I closed my eyes tightly. All sorts of thoughts flooded my mind. I hadn't even asked Isaac the purpose of this trip yet. Was he going to confess? I wasn't ready! I felt his tight muscles behind my back and stiffened.

"Isaac. Why, why did you ask me to come?"

"I have something important to say."

What could be so important? The confession hypothesis was getting more and more plausible. I had said I would properly seduce him, so it was a good time for a confession! However, I still hadn't properly met the Pope and hadn't given the dragon its gift yet. Isn't it too soon for us to fall in love?

"You can open your eyes," he said.

I nodded slightly and opened my eyes. The desert was suddenly quiet.

"Shall we walk now?"

"Yes." I took a step away, deep in thought. I bit my lip nervously as we walked through the desert night. What if Isaac confesses right away? No, no. Should I start with a relationship?

Isaac stared at me. "Mel."

"Yes?" I swallowed and faced him.

Just as I was getting very nervous, a small egg appeared from his hand. I looked at the egg and my eyes widened in confusion. It was the dragon egg that had been in my pocket. I didn't know when or how it had fallen into Isaac's hands.

Why did the egg suddenly come out? I wondered. Isaac tapped the egg with his index finger.

"That's the purpose of today's trip. Awakening the dragon."

I looked around in admiration and paused. What, you're here to work? My ears were probably burning red right now. I wiped my cheek and looked at Isaac. Yes, I have to work!

"Great! Let's go, let's meet the dragon."

It is said that it is impossible to reach the oasis in the desert, the "cradle where dragons are conceived," using magic. So we had to walk through the desert for a long time. I was worried that the road would be difficult, but thanks to Isaac's magic, I was able to walk through the sandy desert as if I were walking on fluffy cotton candy.

I glanced at Isaac walking beside me and bit my lip. What's with that unbuttoned shirt? I thought seriously, but I couldn't tell him to close the button. Because, to be honest, it was a little better this way. I tried to keep my mouth shut and deliberately put a lot of force on my eyes.

Isaac didn't know my impure thoughts and held out his hand kindly. "It will be difficult, but you just need to walk a little." I grabbed Isaac's outstretched hand and walked with him. The road we walked together was not as long as I expected, but it was cozy, refreshing, and quite warm. However, I kept paying attention to his body. I cursed at the lewd devil in my heart and shook my head.

It's time to change the topic! I thought. "Come to think of it, Isaac, I have a question." It would take a while to reach the oasis. If I kept focusing on this man's body, I might have a nervous breakdown. Therefore, I had to distract myself by asking about the things I was curious about.

"Yes," he replied calmly.

I said bluntly, "What kind of person are you? So, well..."

"Yes."

A good opportunity had come, and I wanted to ask him. I wanted to hear what his life was like from his own mouth. "I'm curious about your past." I was curious about the life Isaac personally experienced, not the content of the novel I had read.

At my words, Isaac tilted his head and muttered languidly, "You must be very interested in me now, Mel."

Wait, did that sound like that?

Isaac, who smiled decadently, opened his mouth without waiting for an excuse. "I don't have parents. I grew up in an almshouse, realized my magical abilities, and moved to the Mage Tower."

"Oh..."

"The first Master who took me in died within a year. I found out later that wizards die easily." His past was surprisingly serious and lonely. I listened intently.

Isaac spoke again. "I grew up learning not to give affection to others."

"..."

"Life was boring and mischievous." Isaac seemed to think I was embarrassed. He continued to speak affectionately and playfully as if he were always being considerate. "So I think I was surprised by how sincerely you treat everything, at first."

I replied seriously, "Wasn't it hard?"

Isaac didn't say much. It was as if he was pondering my story. There was a pause in the conversation. I chose my words carefully to finish. "You... you went through hardships and became a wonderful adult, then."

Isaac paused for a moment, then stepped forward. "If you think so."

"I really think so."

"Then I must have become a good adult."

As soon as he concluded the conversation decisively, a dazzling oasis appeared before us. In the dark night sky, like a goddess's black hair, stars twinkled brightly. I felt the atmosphere of the cold desert night and took in the magnificent oasis. The surface of the water with green waves and the unrealistically large palm trees surrounding it.

So that I could fully admire the scenery, Isaac, who had been silent for a while, whispered, "You already know everything."

When Isaac paused for a moment, a cool breeze blew as if it had been waiting. As soon as it brushed my head, I heard his voice in my ear. "I like it, Mel."

Lazy and sweet... That was a confession.

I pursed my lips, and his fingertips gently brushed down my chin. His face grew closer. I looked into his black eyes and froze, not even blinking.

"I want to kiss you now." His fingertips touched my lips for a moment and then fell off. My face was probably burning hot. From this angle, I could see his body so well! Isaac laughed out loud, kissed me softly on the forehead, and then walked away. By the time my eyelashes trembled, Isaac's lips slid past his cheeks and onto his neck and collarbone. He kissed my white neck briefly and muttered to himself, "When will our emotions reach a similar temperature?"

I lifted my eyelashes as I listened to his question. His forehead felt burning where his lips had touched. He cooled my red cheeks with his cold hand and replied honestly, a smile on his lips. "I'll wait. I'm pretty good at waiting."

I'm going crazy.

I looked away as I touched my neck where his lips had been, my face bright red. His laughter spread like a bell in my ears.
