Chapter 1: His Mouth Found Mine Before His Name Did

The music pulsed, a deep, heady rhythm that made it impossible to think straight. People danced, laughed, and drank like the night owed them something.

Mila didn't belong here. Not really. But that was the point.

One impulsive night. One drink too many. One decision to forget.

She stood at the edge of the rooftop bar, fingers wrapped around a glass of something strong and sweet, pretending the city lights could drown out her thoughts.

And then—him.

Tall. Dark. That lazy, devastating smile. The kind of man women made mistakes with and never fully regretted.

"Rough night?" he asked, appearing beside her like he'd been summoned by her loneliness.

She turned, startled. "You always this forward?"

He raised a brow. "Only when someone looks like they need saving."

She gave a soft, bitter laugh. "You're too late for that."

He leaned in, not touching, just close enough to tilt the world slightly. "Try me."

The tension was there instantly. Electric. Dangerous. No names. No questions. Just glances that lasted too long and silences that felt like answers.

So when he leaned in… she didn't pull away.

His mouth found hers like a secret, like a confession neither of them wanted to say out loud.

It was heat and hunger and heartache all wrapped in one kiss. And when it ended, she didn't ask who he was.

She didn't want to ruin it.

The Next Morning

Mila smoothed her dress and practiced her smile. It was her sister's engagement brunch, and she had promised—no drama.

She walked into the restaurant, ready to play the part.

And then she saw him.

Standing at the head of the table.

Smiling at everyone.

Holding her sister's hand.

Her breath left her in a violent rush.

The man from the rooftop.

The man she kissed.

Was her sister's fiancé.
