M continued, his voice maintaining that low, monotonous rhythm. "Good. After you and your other five members went to look for Axel, and also your dead members, what happened next?"
Jules, whose pupils were still dilated and eyes empty, answered. "All my five team members died."
M asked once again, pushing for the critical missing link. "Then what happened next?"
Jules answered, his voice completely flat. "I did not see the killer, so I left the forest, since the mission was called off already."
M instantly determined the exact point where Axel's hypnosis had been applied and where Jules's memory had been altered. He concluded that it was definitely after Jules's team members died, because since Axel was able to kill the five members, it made no sense that Axel would just let Jules live.
M gave a new, powerful command to overwrite the previous one. He spoke in that monotonous but low voice, layering the suggestions with emotion.
