He knows this tactic — retreating to advance. It's possible that he was paid to make that statement, a testament to the shady deals that go on behind the scenes.
"You can have it all. I don't really need them anyway."
The man retreats after discovering he isn't dealing with an average teenager. The stare of this kid really makes his blood run cold; it feels like a beast has locked on to its prey, making him cautious and unwilling to act stupidly.
"No, no, no. Young guest, no need to pay extra. How can I hide my face after doing such a thing to my customer?"
A tidy-looking man of average stature quickly stepped in after overhearing the situation. He seems to be the manager, clothed in a black suit and a bow tie, giving him a professional look.
'And another tactic; it's called fishing in troubled waters.'
Avalon mentally rolled his eyes, but his expression remained deadpan.
"Alright, deal."
He said and casually sat on a chair in the reception.
'Each exchange is intricately crafted so that it seems almost flawless. They may think they are dealing with a kid, and that is their biggest mistake.'
'By mediating, I might see him in a new light, leading to a good opinion of him forming subconsciously.'
He analyzed calmly.
"Sir, here is a backpack containing your order."
The salesperson handed him a medium black backpack with an interesting design.
'At least she is decent enough.'
He gave the young woman another look. She was a pretty woman in glasses with freckles and a cute face.
They are quite familiar with him though; after all, he gets some of his materials from this store.
After slinging the backpack on his back, he weaved his way out of the store, dodging the incoming customers.
Back in his lab, he took out the two arrays that looked like semi-opaque crystals with circuits running through them like veins. They have a rectangular shape and are only two centimeters thick.
The connections he disconnected earlier are now neatly in place, fitting together like puzzle pieces. These wires are quite special, and they are necessary for what he is about to do.
He fearlessly connected a device with two flexible pads to his head.
"Initiate dive,"
he muttered, as the device gave a weak pulse, flowing in and out of the transparent extension.
He appeared in a virtual space, surrounded by different elements coded into its structure. It is visually represented as a sequence of symbols arranged in an intricate pattern. It is a quantum field, a space similar to a software development environment, but using natural elements simplified into logic.
A quantum space has many uses, from creating software to developing different inventions that work on quantum mechanics. This technology has opened a new frontier to the human race; due to its existence, many things that were never thought possible are now a reality in this age.
How humanity got their hands on this powerful technology, nobody knows. But the various inventions humans are able to come up with are a testament to their intelligence and innovative capabilities.
He opened his eyes to a world filled with intricate connections and colorful elements swirling all around him. This world is filled with different lines connecting to different points — beautiful and colorful.
He turned and looked around until he saw the SAM, tagged with a coordinate and a single branching connection extending to a hub with multiple other connections. He made sure nothing was in the SAM, or else the process he was about to execute might end up with complications. Although objects stored in the SAM usually don't affect the quantum space unless it's a special material with such an attribute, he's not taking any chances.
After focusing on the connection that extended from the SAM to the field array, an attribute panel popped up, displaying rows of information including a pen-shaped icon.
Multicolored lights swirled around him as he was transported to the edit space.
"Alpha Sequence: Route infinity loop_variable=0."
"Primary Access Point: static encryption.
Unauthorized Access Node = negative."
Beep!
Ping!
An isolated domain was created. Why would he take any chances? There may be prying eyes snooping around — not a single piece of info is allowed to leak from this space.
His fingers blurred as they danced, connecting symbols and logics together to form a spherical object that turned out to be a force field.
An energy meter appeared in his HUD:
Energy: 80‰
After five seconds, it was back to a hundred percent.
"This won't do."
He frowned.
"Guess I need a generator and a storage bank."
He materialized a bracelet on his wrist.
Ping!
Woom! Woom! Woom!
He stretched his hand and sent signal pulses in a 360-degree radius all around him.
Ting ting ting ting
Ting tin...
Ping!
A feedback was relayed, and he located some vortex elements. After sorting them, he picked some distinctive ones. These are the symbols, and they work with logic to perform tasks.
Piece by piece, he arranged them into a large vortex pattern and made sure the logic was properly defined so they would be connected in an array, thereby boosting the collective output.
A pulsating vortex was left rotating in midair after he was done. A resize tool appeared in his grasp; a green beam hit the vortex, shrinking it to the size of a peanut.
He spread his arms, and clusters of matter blocks appeared above his palms.
He stretched both of his arms forward, and a pulsating orb of light matter materialized in his palms. The surrounding matter blocks spiraled towards the light orb, stretching in tendrils that formed an intricate vortex.
(Author: Ahem, why are you looking at me like that?)
Pzzzzzzzzz!
Tttttraaaazap!
A bright flash exploded, and arcs of electricity rampaged in reckless abandon — blue, red, beautiful.
A sphere was left in the chaos, made up of spinning rings that orbited around each other with a mystifying effect. The vortex was transferred to the shell.
'Generator secured, time for the dangerous part.'
