"Little Bai, you can tell the size of the lightning tribulation from so far away?"
Su Jin asked in surprised as he looked at Little Bai floating next to him.
"Heh. What do you take me for? I'm close to reaching an Immortal Artifact, so my Divine Soul can easily extend to that distance. It's just that I don't dare linger near it for too long for fear of disrupting Little Xai's breakthrough."
Hearing this, Su Jin sighed in relief, before his eyes suddenly lit up. He began flattering Little Bai, while at the same time subtly extracting more details about the other aspects he had.
An Mo also let out a sigh of relief when he saw the size of the lightning tribulation. It seemed he really had overthought things.
Looking up at the lightning that was continuously building up within those dark clouds, An Mo finally let go of his worries by quite a bit and instead began curiously observing what this tribulation was all about.
Xai Lin herself also released a sigh of relief. Even though she had repeatedly comforted An Mo, only the heavens knew how frighten she was when she was forced to make a breakthrough.
Like An Mo, she had thought that the reason why the Heavenly Dao of this world wanted her to make a breakthrough was to take this chance to punish her for stealing Sikong's opportunity, or worse, getting rid of this variable that had suddenly popped up from nowhere.
Thankfully, both her and An Mo's guess was incorrect.
However, the question still remains.
Why was she force to make a breakthrough?
Xai Lin thought this as she stared at the lightning tribulation that had finished charging up and was about to strike her.
But just at that moment when the lightning was about to strike, Xai Lin recalled the suspicion that arose in her heart when she saw An Mo's transformation, and like a lightning bolt streaking through a clear blue sky, an incredulous thought popped into mind.
As if to confirm this thought that had appeared in her mind, the first lightning strike that was preparing to fall—fell.
However, when it was halfway from reaching her, it suddenly turned in an odd trajectory in midair and strike at An Mo who was floating three hundred meters away.
Xai Lin couldn't help but widen her beautiful eyes when she saw this scene, feeling utterly dumbfounded that her guess was correct.
"Eh?"
Meanwhile, An Mo, who also witnessed this scene, showed a baffled expression.
As the lightning strike towards him, An Mo had the leisure to contemplate whether to dodge or not. After contemplating, he shifted to the side and allowed that streak of blue lightning to fly past him. However, it didn't reach a few feet away from him before it suddenly curved around and strike at him once again, this time, its speed more than doubled.
An Mo had not expected this to happened, so he had no time to react and was hit squarely in the chest by the lightning bolt.
He was about to instinctively let out a cry of pain, but the cry of pain didn't get past his throat before it was choked back down by the warm current that began spreading through his body starting from his chest.
"This is—?"
An Mo looked down at his intact skin on his chest through his damaged clothes and for a moment his brain stalled.
Xai Lin also saw this scene, and the worry that was originally on her face disappeared to be replaced by a dazed expression.
Crackle!
The sound of lightning echoed in the dark clouds, snapping An Mo back to reality. Looking up, he saw several bolts of lightning even thicker than the one just now, striking down towards Xai Lin, before abruptly changing directions to strike at him.
Upon seeing this, An Mo became a little nervous.
"Xai Lin!"
An Mo turned to called Xai Lin, who was standing motionlessly a distance away.
Hearing An Mo's call, Xai Lin woke up from her daze state, and turned to look in his direction, only to see a group of blue lightning bolts chase him around. For some reason, Xai Lin felt that these bolts of lightning seem desperate to strike An Mo.
Xai Lin's eyelids twitched incessantly.
"Just what the hell is going on with this situation? Is this really my Foundation Establishment lightning tribulation? How am I supposed to refine my dantian and cleanse my meridians like this? Am I supposed to establish my foundation like this? Even a wife can't cook without rice, so how the hell am I supposed to secure a sturdy enough foundation without the heavenly lightning's tempering?"
Perhaps the Heavenly Dao heard her incessant complaints, because the thinnest of the lightning bolts, which hadn't yet had the time to strike An Mo, begrudgingly turned around and flew towards her.
However, upon witness this obvious pity gift turn to her, Xai Lin only watched expressionlessly as it approached and struck her forehead. A numbing sensation spread through her body, but she ignored it and focus on guiding a portion of the energy to her Sea of Consciousness to temper her soul.
By the time she used the reminding portion of energy to wash her meridians and refine her dantian, it was already finished.
Xai Lin looked at the small portion of meridians she managed to cleanse, as well as the dantian she had only managed to refine one-fifth of, and she couldn't help but let out a mocking sneer.
"Heh."
Xai Lin then expressionlessly retrieved her senses from within her body and opened her eyes to see the situation happening outside. However, the scene she saw left her completely feeling numb.
In the short time she was refining that bolt of lightning that was no different from a toothpick to her, over two dozen lightning bolts, each with the thickness of an adult human, were striking towards An Mo.
What really left Xai Lin wanting to cough up blood was that these lightning bolts were still striking towards her halfway before turning to An Mo, as if no one could tell what its true intentions were.
An Mo, who already had his clothes completely disintegrated and his hair—well, back to normal— saw Xai Lin open her eyes. His golden eyes lit up with excitement, but that excitement quickly turned to one of sorrow as he cried out in an aggrieved tone.
"Xai-xai, save me!"
After letting out this heart wrenching cry, An Mo swiftly dodged the numerous lightning bolts and rushed towards Xai Lin. After reaching her, he quickly hid behind her.
Having been dodged, the lightning bolts seemed dissatisfied as they all turn and chased after An Mo.
An Mo originally thought that with Xai Lin, the original owner of the lightning tribulation, standing in front of him, these lightning bolts wouldn't dodge her, and still shamelessly come after him. However, he was proven wrong.
The over two dozen thick lightning bolts didn't even deign to brush against Xai Lin's clothes as they curve around her to strike at him.
Seeing this, An Mo finally couldn't take it anymore.
"Damn it! Damn bastards! I'm already full, I can't even absorb any more energy even if I wanted to! Are you trying to fucking burst me apart!!"
As An Mo's signature loud voice echoed out, he reverted from his merged transformation to his Three-legged Divine Crow form. Afterward, he teleported away leaving behind a cluster of black feathers.
One teleportation brought him to the edge of the tribulation clouds, and another brought him over five hundred meters away.
At this distance, An Mo breathe a sigh of relief. However, he seemed to sense something and quickly turned around, only to see that mass of dark clouds getting closer and closer.
"No, this—What do you want from me!?"
An Mo let out a miserable wail before he flapped his wings and flew off.
Soon, the oddest scene that had likely ever happened in this cultivation world played out.
While An Mo ran away, that mass of dark clouds chase after him while releasing bolts of lightning.
Actually, this scene would be somewhat comical if a third party who was uninvolved saw such a thing happening.
However, for Xai Lin, who was an involved party, she really couldn't laugh.
No, she couldn't feel anything really. She had already become numb to the situation.
Watching as her lightning tribulation chased after An Mo in the distance, Xai Lin began doubting her second life for the first time.
