Chapter 132 - Chapter 131: Confronting the Ancient One

After the Avengers party and meeting ended, Kakashi left Tony's mansion quietly.

The night air in New York was cool and smelled of smoke from the recent battle. He walked through the city streets until he reached a hidden gate in an old wall. No one noticed it unless they knew where to look. Kakashi knocked once.

The gate opened with a soft creak. Wong stood there in his orange monk robes, looking calm as always.

"Oh, it's you, Kakashi," Wong said with a small nod.

Kakashi reached into his pouch and pulled out a small wrapped package. He handed it to Wong and leaned closer to whisper.

"Recent edition of Playboy. Have fun."

Wong's eyes widened for a split second. He looked left, then right, making sure no one was watching. He quickly tucked the package inside his robe like it was the most secret artifact in Kamar-Taj. Then he coughed loudly to cover his embarrassment.

"Thank you," he muttered, face slightly red. "The Ancient One is expecting you. She has already brewed tea."

"She is, huh," Kakashi said quietly, as if a puzzle piece finally clicked into place.

He walked through the gate into the peaceful courtyard of Kamar-Taj. Monks practiced slow movements in the moonlight. Torches flickered along the stone paths. Everything felt calm, far away from the chaos of New York.

Kakashi followed the familiar path to the small garden where the Ancient One usually sat. He found her on a stone bench under an old tree. A small table held a teapot and two cups. Steam rose gently from the spout. She was already sipping from one cup. The second waited for him.

"Come sit, Mr. Kakashi," the Ancient One said with a warm smile. "It has been a while since you visited. You were quite helpful on missions with us. Since you left, our success rate has dropped. Would you like to come back?"

Kakashi sat down and picked up the cup. The tea smelled of herbs and old mountains. He took a slow sip.

"No," he said. "I am here to ask for an explanation."

The Ancient One smiled wider. "Ah, It must be about the past week events. You did well to protect Earth. Ask away."

Kakashi put the cup down carefully.

"Why did Kamar-Taj not defend Earth from Loki or the Chitauri? Your goal is to protect the world from mystical threats, is it not?"

The Ancient One answered calmly.

"As you said, We protect against mystical threats, Mr. Kakashi. Magic, demons, dangers from other dimensions. The Chitauri were a physical army from space. That is not our duty."

Kakashi did not look satisfied.

"Loki used magic to arrive. He used the Tesseract, a mystical object. And you still did nothing."

He leaned forward slightly.

"But that is not the real problem. The invasion happened because of the Tesseract, yes. S.H.I.E.L.D. and Fury woke it up by experimenting. They did not know what they were doing. Their mistake can be forgiven because they were ignorant. But Tesseract was not the only thing that the Chitauri wanted from Earth, Was it?"

He pointed directly at the glowing pendant around her neck.

"They wanted that too. And unlike Shield or Fury, you are not ignorant about what that is."

"But you knew exactly what that is. You knew the Time Stone was inside the Eye of Agamotto. You knew powerful beings like Thanos would come for it one day. You could have warned someone. You could have prepared Earth. What is your excuse?"

The Ancient One chuckled softly.

"It is not every day someone lectures me. Not many have the… courage to do so."

Kakashi did not smile.

"If I am right, that stone lets you see the future. You could have shared information. You could have helped humans prepare. Or at least warned me so I could have helped them prepare."

The Ancient One's expression stayed calm.

"Some things must happen as they are meant to. I looked into the future. I saw you would save the day so I did not think that it needed Kamar Taj or my intervention."

Kakashi's eyes narrowed.

"That is not good enough. As leader of the Avengers, I will keep your secrets. Magic stays hidden. But you will tell me about any mystical or physical threat coming to Earth. You will share what you see. Or the world learns about Kamar-Taj tomorrow. Imagine every child, every teenager, every curious adult knocking on your gate to learn magic. It would be fun to watch."

The Ancient One raised an eyebrow.

"Is that a threat, Mr. Kakashi?"

Kakashi's eyes changed to the Sharingan. The pattern spun slowly.

"Yes."

At the same moment, the Ancient One's hand moved fast as lightning. She tried to chop the side of his neck with a precise strike that would knock him out instantly.

Kakashi leaned back just enough. The hand missed by a hair. He countered with a quick kick toward her side.

The Ancient One blocked it with her forearm. The world around them shimmered and changed. Suddenly they stood in a strange place full of mirrors in every direction.

"I guess it is time for round two of our duel, Mr. Kakashi," the Ancient One said with a small smile. "Let us see if you can back up your threat."
