Meanwhile, across town, Samuel was finally emerging from his artistic cocoon. He realized he hadn't spoken to Flora since their museum encounter. He missed her laughter, her quirky personality, and the way she made him feel like he was twelve years old again.
He decided to give her a call.
Flora answered on the third ring. "Hey, Samuel!" she said, her voice bright and cheerful.
Samuel's heart sank a little. She sounded… happy.
"Hey, Flora," he said. "How are you? It's been a while."
"I'm good," she said. "Really good, actually."
"That's great," Samuel said, trying to sound enthusiastic. "So, I was wondering… are you free next week? Maybe we could grab some coffee or something?"
Flora hesitated. "Actually, I'm having a party at my house next week," she said. "My parents are throwing it. You should come!"
Samuel perked up. "Really? That sounds fun! I'd love to."
"Great!" Flora said. "It'll be good to see you."
Samuel hung up the phone, a smile spreading across his face. He was going to see Flora again! And this time, he was going to make sure she knew how he felt about her.
